Abstract

This study aims to determine the relevance of Islamic philosophical thought in the study of Islamic education. This study uses a literature review methodology to explore the relevance of Islamic philosophical thought in the study of Islamic education. This method involves collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data from a variety of scientific sources, including books, journal articles, and other academic publications related to Islamic philosophy and educational sciences. The selected literature is critically analyzed to uncover the relationships, patterns, and potential contributions of Islamic philosophy to educational theory and practice. In addition, this study uses a thematic analysis approach to categorize the findings and draw conclusions regarding the alignment between Islamic philosophical principles and the goals of Islamic education. The findings of this study are the urgency and function of Islamic education philosophy for educators and Islamic education thinkers. Education without being imbued with philosophy, the education will not be able to run well and perfectly, as well as will have difficulties in determining the expected direction and goals. The purpose of Islamic educational philosophy is essentially identical to the purpose of Islamic teachings. Both come from the same source, namely the Qur'an and al-Hadith. The philosophy of Islamic education has a role in two directions, namely the development of philosophical concepts of Islamic education will automatically produce new theories in Islamic education and the improvement and renewal of the implementation of Islamic education

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of multicultural education from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy and its relevance to the development of education in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. The process of collecting literature is carried out through several scientific databases such as Google Scholar and DOAJ, as well as through academic books, proceedings, and relevant national and international journal articles. The analysis stage is conducted using content analysis techniques, which involves analyzing the meanings, concepts, and relationships between ideas that emerge in various literatures. The analysis results indicate that multicultural education is an educational approach that emphasizes recognition, appreciation, and acceptance of cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity. From the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy, values such as justice, equality, tolerance, and respect for human beings are in line with the concept of multiculturalism. Integrating these values into Islamic education has the potential to strengthen social harmony, build inclusive student character, and prevent conflicts arising from differences in identity. This study concludes that the implementation of multicultural education within the framework of Islamic education is highly relevant for creating a peaceful, just, and human-oriented society. The study emphasizes the need to revitalize the curriculum and pedagogy of Islamic education to be more responsive to the diverse realities of Indonesian society

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of behaviorist theory in improving students' basic discipline and cognition in science learning in elementary school. The method used is library research, by collecting and analyzing various written sources such as books, scientific journals, articles, and other publications relevant to the topic. The theory of behaviorism was chosen because it emphasizes the formation of behavior through stimulus and response, which is considered effective in building disciplinary habits and strengthening students' basic understanding of science concepts. The research process is carried out by examining relevant sources, recording the main principles, and comparing the views and findings of various authors. The results of the study show that behaviorism-based learning strategies, such as positive reinforcement, punishment, and repetitive exercises, can help students develop disciplined behaviors and improve their conceptual understanding of science. These findings are expected to be a reference for teachers and education practitioners in designing more effective and theory-based learning approaches.

Abstract

This article investigates how Islamic Education teachers implement their professional competence in managing learning at a public Islamic senior secondary school in North Maluku, Indonesia. Teacher competence is understood as a multidimensional construct that includes pedagogical, professional, personal, social, and spiritual dimensions and is expressed through lesson planning, classroom instruction, and learning assessment. Using a qualitative naturalistic design, data were collected through participant observation, in depth interviews with teachers, school leaders, and students, and documentation of lesson plans and institutional records. The findings show that lesson planning is carried out consistently and aligned with the curriculum, but the depth and creativity of plans vary between teachers, with some documents remaining largely administrative. In classroom instruction, teachers demonstrate sincere efforts to create a conducive learning climate, connect Islamic teachings with students daily lives, and encourage participation, although limited use of educational technology, differences in student engagement, and classroom management challenges constrain the consistency of instructional quality. Assessment practices employ diverse techniques to evaluate cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, yet the systematic use of formative and authentic assessment is still uneven due to workload and time pressures. Supporting factors include institutional backing through workshops and subject teacher forums, supportive leadership, adequate facilities, and teacher experience, while inhibiting factors comprise internal limitations in instructional design, external constraints related to technology and student diversity, and structural administrative demands. Overall, the study offers an integrated and context specific picture of how competence in learning management contributes to students understanding, motivation, and religious character.

Abstract

This study investigates how character education is embedded into the school culture of an Indonesian Islamic junior high school (madrasah), focusing on four core values: religiosity, honesty, tolerance, and discipline. Using a qualitative naturalistic approach, the research was conducted at MTsN 3 Halmahera Utara through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving school leaders, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that character education at the madrasah is not a standalone program but is institutionalized through consistent routines, religious practices, and role modeling. Religiosity is fostered through structured worship, integration of Islamic values into lessons, and spiritual habits. Honesty is promoted via trust-based learning environments, teacher exemplarity, and reinforcement of moral norms. Tolerance is cultivated through inclusive social interactions and respect for religious and cultural differences, while discipline is internalized through habitual rule-following, punctuality, and self-regulation. These findings align with existing theories and regional character education frameworks, confirming that character is best formed through embedded cultural processes and consistent adult exemplarity. The study contributes to the understanding of how Islamic schools can function as moral communities and highlights the importance of alignment between school culture, family support, and wider social contexts in achieving sustainable moral development.

Abstract

The development of scientific literacy has become a central goal of physics education in the twenty-first century, particularly in response to persistent gaps in students’ ability to apply scientific knowledge to real-life contexts. In Indonesia, students’ scientific literacy remains below international benchmarks, highlighting the urgency of developing contextual and culturally relevant learning resources. The purpose of this study is to develop a physics companion book based on Takalar local wisdom to enhance senior high school students’ scientific literacy and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). The study employed the Plomp development model, consisting of three main phases: preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment. The preliminary phase involved a needs analysis and a curriculum study to identify opportunities to integrate local culture into physics learning. Experts in content, media, and language designed and validated the book during the prototyping phase. The assessment phase tested the practicality and effectiveness of the book through a limited trial with 95 senior high school students in Takalar. Data were collected using validation sheets, scientific literacy tests, and student response questionnaires. Results indicated a high level of validity (Gregory index V = 1.00) and very positive student responses (77%). Empirical findings show an improvement in students’ scientific literacy, with the majority reaching moderate (66%) to adequate levels after implementation. The novelty of this study lies in the systematic integration of local wisdom into a physics companion book using a comprehensive development model, accompanied by empirical evaluation of scientific literacy outcomes and explicit alignment with SDG 4. This research is expected to make a real contribution to the provision of valid, practical, and effective teaching materials to strengthen science literacy, 21st-century skills, and the achievement of SDG 4.

Abstract

The curriculum as an educational design has a very strategic position in all aspects of educational activities. Considering the importance of curriculum development in education, the preparation must refer to a solid and strong foundation. The foundation of curriculum development is not only needed for the compilers of the curriculum (macro) or the written curriculum which is often referred to as the ideal curriculum, but must also be understood and used as a basis for consideration by the implementers of the (micro) curriculum, namely the education supervisors and the teachers and parties - other parties related to the tasks of managing education, as material to be used as instruments in conducting coaching towards the implementation of the curriculum at each type and level of education. With this important position, curriculum development cannot be done arbitrarily, but it must be based on various considerations, or a foundation so that it can be used as a foothold in organizing the educational process, so as to facilitate the achievement of educational and learning goals more efficiently and effectively.
