Abstract

This study is motivated by the limitations of contemporary human development theories, which predominantly emphasize biological and psychological dimensions while overlooking the spiritual and eschatological aspects essential to the Islamic theological perspective. This gap necessitates a more comprehensive reconstruction rooted in Islamic normative sources and aligned with the needs of modern education. This study aims to reconstruct the concept of the human life cycle from the perspective of Islamic educational theology, identify the stages of life that are relevant to the framework of Islamic education, and explain their implications for Islamic educational practice. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the research integrates content analysis and thematic analysis of primary sources—Qur’an, Hadith, and classical texts—alongside contemporary academic literature. The findings reveal that the Islamic perspective on the human life cycle comprises six interconnected phases: pre-birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age, and post-death, all of which relate closely to fitrah, spiritual purification (tazkiyah), cultivation of adab, and eschatological orientation. The study proposes a holistic–transcendental conceptual model grounded in tawhid that strengthens the epistemology of Islamic education and offers a theoretical alternative for the advancement of Islamic educational practice in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the fundamental concept of Islamic culture according to Ali Ahmad Madzkur, analyze its core principles and values, explain the classification and characteristics of Islamic culture from his perspective, and explore the relevance of these ideas to the development of contemporary Muslim society within the social, cultural, and civilizational dynamics of the modern Islamic world. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to systematically describe and analyze Madzkur’s thought on Islamic culture. Primary data were obtained from Madzkur’s original works, while secondary data were gathered from supporting literature. Data collection was conducted through library research and subsequently analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and presentation to identify the relevance of Madzkur’s ideas for contemporary Muslim society. The findings indicate that Ali Ahmad Madzkur asserts that Islamic culture is rooted in divine revelation and encompasses the values of monotheism (tawhid), ethics, justice, and spiritual-material balance. Islamic culture is dynamic, adaptable to changing times, and categorized into the dimensions of creed, ethics, and knowledge. His ideas are relevant in responding to secular globalization by offering a divine cultural paradigm that remains open to scientific advancement and the development of modern Islamic civilization.

Abstract

Various studies have shown that feature selection can improve classification accuracy, particularly in agriculture. However, most of these studies still use conventional metaheuristic algorithms, which have certain limitations, including a tendency to get stuck in local optima. Therefore, this study explores the potential of advanced metaheuristic algorithms for selecting colour and texture features to classify the purity of civet coffee. This study used k-Nearest Neighbour (K-NN) model optimized with several advanced metaheuristic algorithms, i.e. Bare Bones Particle Swarm Optimisation (BBPSO), Modified Generalised Flower Pollination Algorithm (MGFPA), Enhanced Salp Swarm Algorithm (ESSA), Improved Salp Swarm Algorithm (ISSA), and Two-Stage Modified Grey Wolf Optimizer (TMGWO). The results show that feature selection can improve model accuracy. The best model was obtained from a combination of K-NN and TMGWO with an accuracy of 0.981, precision of 0.982, recall of 0.981, F1-Score of 0.981, and Area Under Curve (AUC) close to 1 with three selected features, i.e. blue correlation, s_hsl_correlation, and s_hsv_correlation. Furthermore, the results of this study indicate that the development of advanced metaheuristic algorithms can overcome the weaknesses of conventional algorithms, as demonstrated by improvements in classification model accuracy and the number of selected features.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the leadership style of the principal and its impact on teacher performance at MTsN 1 Probolinggo. The focus of the study is on the influence of leadership on teacher performance in pedagogical, professional, and administrative aspects, particularly in the context of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum and digital transformation in education. The study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, vice principal, and supervisor, and supported by analysis of school documentation. The research location was selected purposively because MTsN 1 Probolinggo demonstrated communicative and collaborative leadership practices. The results showed that the principal implemented a democratic and participatory leadership style characterised by open communication, teacher involvement in decision-making, and providing space for learning innovation. This leadership style has a positive impact on improving teacher performance, particularly in learning planning and implementation, continuous professional development, and administrative order. In addition, the principal demonstrates adaptive abilities in responding to education policies and utilising technology. These findings confirm that collaborative and adaptive leadership plays an important role in improving teacher performance in madrasahs.
