Abstract

Empathy is vital for overcoming global challenges, such as humanitarian emergencies, political conflicts, violence, and other behavioral issues. Behaviors that reflect a lack of empathy include bullying, corruption, intolerance, radicalism, and violence—actions rooted in failing to consider others' perspectives. Between 2011 and 2019, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) received at least 37,381 bullying reports. Empathy indicates achievement of 21st-century competencies, namely critical reasoning, creativity, communication, and collaboration. Low empathy undermines efforts to build communication and collaboration skills. This study develops reflective narrative history learning to enhance empathy and 21st-century skills. Using the Research & Development (R&D) method and the 4-D instructional development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), 21 history teachers and 1,000 high school students in Banjarmasin City participated. Data were collected through interviews, a learning preferences questionnaire, and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) to gauge students' empathy levels. Qualitative data were analyzed interactively, and quantitative data were analyzed with statistical tests. Results show that reflective narrative history learning effectively develops students' empathic concern.

Abstract

Joyful learning is a strategy that can increase undergraduate student engagement and motivation in learning. This strategy is important for learning animal structures in biology students who have the potential to cause anxiety caused by treatment that is considered to be hurtful to animals. The use of role-playing and augmented reality (AR) technology in learning can provide a more interactive and interesting learning experience, thus providing opportunities for students to enjoy the learning process, as well as train their argumentation skills. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of role playing and augmented reality in the discovery learning model on joyful learning and students' argumentation skills. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample is undergraduate students in Biology Education department who are active in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year and are taking the Animal Structure course. This design compared the conditions of joyful learning and argumentation skills before and after being given treatment in the form of learning Animal Structure topic using the discovery learning model, combined with role-playing assisted by augmented reality. The instruments of this study were a joyful learning questionnaire and an argumentation ability test instrument to collect quantitative data on joyful learning and argumentation skills. Data analysis used a nonparametric analysis of the Wilcoxon test because the data were not homogeneous and not normal. The results showed a significance value (Asymp. Sig. 2 tailed) of 0.00 (<0.05). The effect size on joyful learning was 0.87 and argumentation ability was 0.59. These results confirm that the integration of experience-based pedagogical strategies with immersive technology can create enjoyable learning while fostering students' critical thinking and argumentative skills.Abstrak. Joyful learning menjadi strategi yang dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan dan motivasi mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran, strategi ini penting untuk pembelajaran struktur hewan pada mahasiswa biologi berpotensi menimbulkan kecemasan. Penggunaan role playing dan teknologi augmented reality (AR) dalam pembelajaran dapat memberikan pengalaman belajar yang lebih interaktif dan menarik, sehingga dapat memberikan kesempatan kepada mahasiswa untuk menikmati proses belajar, serta melatih kemampuan argumentasinya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis pengaruh role playing dan augmented reality pada model discovery learning terhadap joyful learning dan kemampuan argumentasi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari mahasiswa program sarjana di Departemen Pendidikan Biologi yang aktif pada semester ganjil tahun akademik 2025/2026 dan sedang mengikuti mata kuliah Struktur Hewan. Desain ini membandingkan kondisi joyful learning dan kemampuan argumentasi sebelum dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan berupa pembelajaran Struktur Hewan dengan menggunakan model discovery learning yang dikombinasikan dengan role playing berbantuan augmented reality. Instrumen penelitian ini yaitu angket joyful learning dan instrumen tes kemampuan argumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data joyful learning dan kemampuan argumentasi secara kuantiatif. Analisis data menggunakan analisis nonparametrik uji Wilcoxon karena data tidak homogen dan tidak normal. Hasil penelitian menujukkan nilai signifikansi (Asymp. Sig. 2 tailed) sebesar 0,00 (<0,05). Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi strategi pedagogis berbasis pengalaman dengan teknologi imersif dapat menciptakan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan sekaligus menumbuhkan pemikiran kritis dan keterampilan argumentasi siswa.

Abstract

Pengembangan media pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan berbasis hasil penelitian sangat penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, khususnya dalam pembelajaran biologi di perguruan tinggi. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah melalui pengembangan buku ilmiah populer yang tidak hanya menyajikan informasi ilmiah secara akurat, tetapi juga mudah dipahami oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji validitas buku ilmiah populer yang berjudul Keragaman Jenis Vegetasi Pohon di Tepian Sungai Kawasan Bendung Amandit Desa Malutu sebagai media pembelajaran pada mata kuliah Ekologi Lahan Basah. Buku ini dikembangkan berdasarkan hasil penelitian keragaman jenis pohon yang tumbuh di sepanjang tepian Sungai Amandit, Kalimantan Selatan, yang memiliki fungsi ekologis penting dalam menjaga stabilitas daerah aliran sungai. Hasil validitas menunjukkan bahwa Buku Ilmiah Populer ini berada dalam kategori sangat valid dengan skor rata-rata keseluruhan 89,28%. Dengan demikian, buku ini layak digunakan sebagai pendukung pembelajaran yang informatif, menarik, dan sesuai dengan konteks lokal.

Abstract

Biology learning on the topic of macrofungi is often hindered by the abstract nature of the concepts and the reliance on static textbook illustrations. This condition is considered insufficient to represent the complexity of the three-dimensional morphology of fungal structures, resulting in low student engagement and limited conceptual understanding. To address this issue, this study aimed to develop FUNGARIA, an Augmented Reality (AR)-based macro fungi encyclopedia, and to evaluate its validity and practicality as a learning aid for promoting environmental literacy. The research employed the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were collected through validation by three experts (subject matter, media, and instructional design) using a 15-item four-point Likert scale instrument, as well as a practicality assessment conducted by experienced biology teachers through a 21-item questionnaire. FUNGARIA achieved an overall validity score of 83.33% (Highly Valid), confirming the product's feasibility in terms of mycological concept accuracy, alignment with Learning Outcomes, and the quality of the AR interface. In the practicality assessment, the media obtained a score of 95.44% (Highly Practical) across four evaluation dimensions: operational ease (94.79%), usability (95.42%), visual appearance and readability (95.83%), and educational benefits (95.83%). The novelty of this study lies in integrating the stability of printed guidance materials with immersive AR-based digital visualization to overcome limitations in device availability within schools.

Abstract

The Barito River is one of the major aquatic ecosystems in South Kalimantan, known for its high biodiversity potential. Human activities around the river, such as settlement expansion and fishing, may affect habitat conditions and fish community structures. This study aimed to investigate the diversity of fish species in the Barito River area, specifically in Lepasan Village, Barito Kuala Regency. Sampling was conducted using a 50-meter rengge gill net under two water conditions—morning and afternoon—at a river depth of 13 meters during high tide. Sampling sites were selected purposively based on representative aquatic conditions. The results identified 14 fish species belonging to five families: Cyprinidae (7 species), Bagridae (3 species), Siluridae (2 species), Polynemidae (1 species), and Pristolepididae (1 species). The Shannon-Wiener diversity index values were H’ = 2.48 in the vegetated zone and H’ = 2.39 in the residential zone, indicating a moderate level of species diversity. This study provides an overview of fish diversity in the Barito River at Lepasan Village, serving as a reference for future aquatic resource management and conservation efforts.

Abstract

Kompetensi lulusan program studi Pendidikan biologi salah satunya adalah lulusan memiliki kemampuan bekerja di laboratorium. Pada mata kuliah manajemen laboratorium mahasiswa dilatih untuk mengelola laboratorium secara optimal supaya fungsi laboratorium berjalan dengan baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan buku pedoman praktikum mata kuliah manajemen laboratorium biologi SMA supaya mahasiswa memiliki panduan untuk mengelola laboratorium biologi SMA. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D yaitu define, design, develop, dan dessiminate. Buku Pedoman Praktikum Manajemen Laboratorium khususnya untuk laboratorium biologi SMA memiliki tiga topik praktikum yaitu inventarisasi peralatan laboratorium biologi SMA, penggunaan dan perawatan mikroskop cahaya serta pengenalan bahan kimia di laboratorium biologi. Hasil uji validitas dari ahli materi memiliki skor 3.7; ahli Bahasa memiliki skor 3.3 dan ahli desain memiliki skor 3.7 dari ketiga validator ahli mendapatkan skor 3.00-4.00 yang artinya Buku Pedoman Praktikum Manajemen Laboratorium sangat valid dan layak untuk digunakan.
