Abstract

Human Resources (HR) plays a crucial role in achieving corporate goals, especially in the context of increasingly competitive globalization. Effective HR management is expected to improve organizational performance and maximize company profitability. Employee performance appraisal serves as the main measuring tool in evaluating individual contributions to company goals, as well as determining rewards or consequences for employees. Work motivation is an important factor affecting employee performance, with high motivation potentially increasing productivity and job satisfaction. This research focuses on PT FAP AGRI, Tbk, where a decline in work motivation among Supervisors has been identified, potentially influencing their decision to quit their job. This study aims to provide recommendations for improving work motivation through strategies such as developing reward programs, improving communication, and supervision, as well as optimizing training and technology programs. The research method involved a census of all Supervisors who graduated from the Training Center at PT FAP AGRI, Tbk, with data analysis using descriptive and quantitative methods. The formulation of strategies to increase Supervisor work motivation at PT FAP AGRI, Tbk involves three main stages: 1) Input Stage: Identification and analysis of internal and external factors needed to formulate strategies; 2) Matching Stage: Internal-External (IE) and SWOT analysis based on the results of the Input Stage; and 3) Decision Making Stage: Evaluation of alternative strategies using the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The results show that the suggested strategies including the development of reward programs, improved communication, and the use of technology, as well as collaboration with educational institutions and utilization of government support, can significantly improve Supervisors' work motivation and performance. This research provides an important basis for formulating effective HR policies to achieve the company's strategic goals.

Abstract

Malinau Robusta coffee demonstrates untapped potential within the specialty coffee market. This study aims to evaluate the quality of Malinau coffee comprehensively and benchmark it against prominent specialty coffees such as Gayo, Toraja, and Kintamani. A descriptive quantitative method was employed to analyze critical parameters including caffeine content, moisture level, defect value, impurity level, grain size, and flavor profile. Coffee samples were gained from nine coffee-producing villages in Malinau Regency, involving 28 farmers covering 190 ha of coffee plantations. The results identified distinct strengths of Malinau coffee, notably its low moisture level (10.2%) and high caffeine content (1.94%) among the samples, offering a strong and intense flavor profile including chocolatey, a bitter aftertaste, and fruity undertones. Challenges for Malinau coffee includes high defect value (65.7/300 g) and impurity level (0.6%), which undermine its marketability in premium segments. To bring Malinau coffee up to par with other established specialty coffees, improvements in post harvest handling are needed, particularly sorting, quality control and consistent processes methods. By adopting innovative cultivation and processing, Malinau coffee holds strong potential as a competitor of specialty coffee, both for domestic and global markets while highlighting its unique regional identity. Keywords: Malinau coffee, North Kalimantan, Quality improvement, Robusta, Specialty coffee.

Abstract

Agriculture in Indonesia in 2020-2024 is focused on realizing advanced, independent, and modern agriculture, with one of the main targets being the growth of 2.5 million millennial entrepreneurs by 2024. In North Kalimantan, millennial farmers have a strategic role in achieving food sovereignty, but many of them have not utilized digital technology for marketing. Digital marketing is very important because it can significantly increase farmers' income by expanding market reach, increasing product visibility, and facilitating consumer access to agricultural products. This study aims to analyze the effect of technology orientation through digital marketing on increasing the income of millennial farmers in Sebatik District, Nunukan Regency. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory, this study examines the relationship between technology orientation, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, behavioral intention to use, actual system use, and farmers' income. A quantitative approach with a survei method was used to collect data which was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the SmartPLS application. The results showed that technology orientation has a positive effect on the use of digital marketing (actual system use), which further increases farmers' income. The use of digital marketing can expand the market and increase the visibility of farmers' products, thereby driving an increase in their income. This study also found that technology orientation has a positive effect on farmers' income through digital marketing as a mediating variabel. These findings suggest that the adoption of digital technology plays a key role in improving the welfare of millennial farmers. As a recommendation, the researcher suggests that the government and relevant stakeholders provide ongoing training and technical support to millennial farmers in adopting digital marketing, as well as develop adequate digital infrastructure to support online marketing of agricultural products.

Abstract

The concept of Smart Coastal Economy (SCE) has emerged as a strategic approach to achieving sustainable coastal development through digital transformation and community empowerment. However, existing research largely examines digitalization and economic empowerment as separate domains, resulting in limited conceptual integration and the absence of a systematic synthesis explaining how both interact to shape coastal economic transformation. This gap hinders the development of an integrated analytical foundation for implementing SCE strategies, particularly in emerging coastal regions. This study aims to synthesize recent empirical evidence on digitalization and economic empowerment in coastal development to construct an integrative conceptual framework for SCE. A SLR was conducted using the PRISMA framework. Articles were retrieved from indexed academic databases, including Google Scholar, MDPI, IOP Science, ScienceDirect, PubMed, IEEE Xplore, and Elsevier. Publications were limited to the period from March 1, 2020, to February 28, 2025. The findings reveal three principal results. First, digitalization enhances coastal competitiveness and sustainability through improved resource efficiency, expanded market access, strengthened supply chain transparency, and environmentally responsible resource management; however, its effectiveness is conditional upon infrastructure readiness, governance support, and community digital literacy. Second, economic empowerment strengthens community capacity across economic, social, and institutional dimensions, particularly when integrating digital skills development, institutional strengthening, digital entrepreneurship, and ecological awareness. Third, the integration of digitalization and empowerment forms a structurally interdependent framework that generates systemic outcomes efficiency and productivity, socio-economic inclusion, and sustainability and resilience. These results provide an evidence-based conceptual foundation for advancing SCE strategies.

Abstract

Abstract. Zahara S, Wahyuni E, Pudjiwati EH, Nurhasanah, Sunaryo W, Rusdiansyah, Aryana IGPM, Wangiana W, Sukartono. 2026. Seedling-stage salinity screening of Indonesian local rice varieties from Kalimantan and Lombok-Sumbawa. Asian J Agric 10 (2): g100202. https://doi.org/10.13057/asianjagric/g100202. Salinity stress constrains rice growth, and local germplasm may provide useful sources of tolerance. This study evaluated seedling-stage responses of 14 Indonesian local rice varieties from Kalimantan and Lombok-Sumbawa under hydroponic conditions and screened for the presence of two candidate salt-stress-related genes, OsAPX1 and DST. Pokkali (tolerant) and IR 29 (sensitive) were used as check varieties. Seedlings were exposed for seven days to Yoshida nutrient solution containing 0, 5000, or 10,000 ppm NaCl (0, 7.8, and 15.62 dS m-1). Shoot and root elongation, leaf chlorophyll content, shoot and root dry weight, and shoot and root tolerance indices were measured. Salinity significantly inhibited seedling growth and reduced chlorophyll content, with responses differing among varieties. Based mainly on root and shoot tolerance indices and comparison with check varieties, Adan Hitam (Nunukan), Padi Ikan (Bulungan), and Padi Alas Barat (Sumbawa) showed relatively higher tolerance under the screening conditions. The DST gene was detected in all local and check varieties, whereas OsAPX1 gene was detected in 13 local varieties and both checks but not in Mayas Pendek. These PCR results indicate only the presence or absence of expected amplicons and require expression or functional validation. The identified tolerant candidates may be useful preliminary materials for rice salinity-tolerance breeding.
