Abstract

This study aims to analyze the accessibility of higher education for women as a means of career development, among students at the Kartini Open University Service Center (SALUT) in Rembang. This research is in line with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically goal 4 on quality education and goal 5 on gender equality, which emphasize the importance of learning opportunities for all without exception. The approach used is a qualitative case study method. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively through the process of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that a flexible learning system provides opportunities for women to continue their studies without neglecting family or work responsibilities. Internal factors such as motivation, awareness of the importance of education, self-confidence, and aspirations are the main drivers. Meanwhile, external factors such as family support, social environment, education policies, and workneeds also strengthen access to higher education. The results of this study are expected to be an academic and practical contribution in understanding and strengthening the role of higher education as a means of emancipation, career development, and empowerment of women through more inclusive and equitable access.

Abstract

The escalating environmental degradation caused by waste underscores the necessity of developing intelligent and sustainable management systems. This study introduces a deep learning–based framework with proposed a modified ConvNeXt architecture enhanced by a two-layer non-linear MLP classification, specifically designed for multi-object waste classification in canal environments. Specifically, ConvNeXt-CNN is introduced as the primary backbone for extracting visual features from waste images. Then, a modified Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) is employed to transform these features into multi-label predictions. To optimize the model’s generalization capability in recognizing the complexity of waste images, a hybrid data augmentation technique combining SMOTE and MixUp was applied during training. The proposed approach was then compared with ten fine-tuned Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures, ResNet18, ResNet50, VGG16, VGG19, DenseNet121, MobileNet_v2, and EfficientNet (B0, B1, B2, and B3), and evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. The experimental dataset comprises 855 waste images containing a total of 2,662 annotated objects across 18 categories, including Bamboo, Beverage Carton, Cardboard, Fabric, Glass Bottle, Inorganic Waste, Kite, Leaf, Metal, Organic Waste, Paper, Plastic, Plastic Bottle, Plastic Cup, Residual Waste, Rubber, Small E-waste, Styrofoam, and Wood. The results show that the fine-tuned ConvNeXt achieved the best performance with an F1-score of 0.99, surpassing DenseNet121 (0.95), ResNet18 (0.91), and VGG16 (0.94). The ConvNeXt model demonstrated its robust capability by achieving consistently high identification scores across majority 18 waste categories. When it came to training efficiency, the fine-tuned MobileNetV2 model proved to be the top performer, outclassing ten other pretrained models, with a training time of 13.35s per epoch.  Results exhibit that finetuned ConvNext outperforms in terms of accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score. In conclusion, Integrating ConvNeXt and MLP for multi-object waste classification effectively supports intelligent waste management, enabling practical real-world deployment in smart bins, Material Recovery Facilities, and IoT-integrated urban waste systems.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the disciplinary behavior and religious tolerance of fifth-grade students at SDN 50 Pelangi and the factors influencing them. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including participant observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results indicate that student discipline remains low, characterized by tardiness, neglect of assignments, and classroom disruption, which impacts the quality of social interactions and academic achievement. Furthermore, religious tolerance is also suboptimal, evident in verbal teasing and social exclusion among peers. An analysis of causal factors indicates a link between student behavior and family parenting styles, consistent enforcement of school rules, and peer influence. Supporting an inclusive school environment, implementing a character-based curriculum, collaborative activities across groups, and counseling have proven effective in fostering discipline and tolerance. This study emphasizes the importance of synergy between families, teachers, and peers in shaping positive behavior. With a systematic and contextual approach to character education, schools can create a disciplined, inclusive, and harmonious learning environment, enabling students to develop not only academically but also to become individuals with noble character and be prepared to face social challenges.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea affects nearly 90% of Indonesian women, with 14% reporting impaired daily functioning due to menstrual pain. Among adolescents, emotional instability and insufficient understanding of the menstrual process contribute to the high prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea. Several non-pharmacological interventions have been explored, including Thibbun Nabawi modalities that combine Qur’anic recitation (murottal) with progressive muscle relaxation. This approach is cost-effective, non-invasive, and easily self-administered. Educational initiatives at SMART Community-Based Youth Organization are urgently needed due to the predominant reliance on pharmacological treatments and limited knowledge of safe and effective non-pharmacological pain management. This community engagement program aims to enhance adolescents’ understanding of menstrual disorders, particularly dysmenorrhea, and to introduce practical, accessible, and side-effect-free pain management techniques through muscle relaxation and Qur’anic murottal.

Abstract

his study addresses the challenge of controlling Air Conditioner (AC) temperature in enclosed spaces in tropical climates, where improper operation often leads to thermal discomfort and excessive energy consumption. The research aims to develop and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based system for monitoring and controlling AC temperature by integrating multi-modal sensors and applying a fuzzy logic approach. The proposed system employs a DHT22 sensor to measure temperature and humidity, a thermopile sensor to capture human body temperature, and a PIR sensor to detect occupancy and movement within the room. Sensor data are processed using an ESP32 microcontroller with FreeRTOS-based multitasking and transmitted to the Blynk platform for real-time monitoring. Decision-making is carried out using fuzzy logic based on the temperature difference (ΔT) between body temperature and ambient conditions to automatically regulate AC operation. Experimental results indicate that the system performs reliably and provides adaptive control, achieving a fuzzy logic accuracy of 64.34% under real-world conditions. Furthermore, the automated control mechanism reduces energy consumption by 35.7% compared to conventional manual operation. Overall, the findings confirm that the integration of multi-modal sensing, IoT technology, and fuzzy logic can effectively enhance energy efficiency while maintaining thermal comfort in indoor environments.
