Abstract

Self-medication of antihistamines for the treatment of allergies is a common practice in the community. However, a lack of understanding of dosage, indications, and side effects can pose health risks. This study aims to find out how the level of knowledge and public attitudes about the practice of self-medication of anthistamines in handling allergies in Biawu village, South Kota District. This research method uses a cross-sectional design with a quantitative descriptive approach. The sample totaled 97 respondents who were selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out descriptively. The population of this study is all people in Biawu village, south Kota district. The results showed that the majority of respondents as many as 58.8% of respondents had a high level of knowledge, 15.5% moderate, and 25.8% low about antihistamine self-medication. Most respondents (96.9%) had a moderate attitude, and only 3.1% had a high attitude. In terms of practice, 62.9% of respondents had high self-medication practices, 27.8% moderate, and 9.3% low. As many as 83.5% of respondents often buy drugs without a medical prescription, and the main source of information is personal/family experience (66%). The conclusion of the study is that although the majority of the public has knowledge of the dangers high practice of antihistamine self-medication. However, the attitude and practice of self-medication is still in the high category. The need for sustainable health education and the active role of health workers in guiding the community to carry out rational and safe self-medication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internalization of religious moderation values through field-based learning at an exhibition organized by the Majelis Tinggi Agama Konghucu Indonesia (MATakin) in Medan. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-reflective approach within a constructivist paradigm. The subjects consisted of six student interns who participated in the visit and interfaith dialogue with the Chairperson of MATakin Medan. Data were collected through participant observation, students’ reflective notes, documentation, and analysis of open dialogue sessions. The findings reveal that field-based learning effectively fosters both cognitive and affective transformation among students. Direct experience and dialogical interaction contributed to the reduction of stereotypes, enhancement of empathy, and strengthening of national commitment. The values of humanity and social harmony in Confucian teachings served as reflective bridges that deepened students’ understanding of religious moderation. These results indicate that the internalization of moderation values cannot rely solely on normative classroom instruction but requires contextual and dialogical engagement. Therefore, interfaith field learning may serve as a pedagogical model in higher education to reinforce social resilience and cultivate moderate character within plural societies. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis proses internalisasi nilai moderasi beragama melalui pembelajaran lapangan pada pameran yang diselenggarakan oleh Majelis Tinggi Agama Konghucu Indonesia (MATakin) Kota Medan. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif-reflektif dengan paradigma konstruktivis. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas enam mahasiswa peserta magang yang mengikuti kunjungan dan dialog lintas iman bersama Ketua MATakin Medan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, catatan reflektif mahasiswa, dokumentasi kegiatan, serta analisis dialog terbuka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran lapangan efektif dalam membangun transformasi kognitif dan afektif mahasiswa. Pengalaman konkret dan dialog langsung berkontribusi pada reduksi stereotip, peningkatan empati, serta penguatan komitmen kebangsaan. Nilai kemanusiaan dan harmoni dalam ajaran Konghucu menjadi medium reflektif yang memperkaya pemahaman mahasiswa tentang moderasi beragama. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa internalisasi nilai tidak cukup melalui pendekatan normatif di kelas, melainkan memerlukan pengalaman dialogis yang kontekstual. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran lapangan berbasis dialog lintas iman dapat direkomendasikan sebagai model pedagogis dalam pendidikan tinggi untuk memperkuat ketahanan sosial dan membangun karakter moderat di tengah masyarakat plural.

Abstract

This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical research type through a literature study method. The research data were obtained from various written sources such as scientific journals, books, research articles, and other documents relevant to the research topic. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation by reading, recording, and classifying data according to the focus of the research. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and qualitatively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that Civic Education has an important role in instilling tolerance values in students through materials related to diversity, democracy, human rights, and Pancasila values. Civic Education learning helps students understand the importance of respecting differences in ethnicity, religion, culture, and opinions in everyday life. In addition, teachers also play an important role in fostering tolerance through group discussions, teamwork, and presentation activities that train students to respect and cooperate with one another. However, there are still obstacles in implementing tolerant attitudes, such as environmental influences and the lack of awareness among some students. Therefore, cooperation between teachers, schools, and parents is needed to continuously foster students’ attitudes of tolerance.
