Abstract

This study examines the multimodality elements in the film My Annoying Brother by Dinna Jasanti using a digital distribution approach to understand how visual, auditory, and verbal elements interact to form narrative meaning. The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of digital distribution on the audience experience and how multimodal elements are delivered through digital platforms. Using a descriptive qualitative analysis method, data were collected through direct observation of the film and analysis of the elements that make up the film. The results show that the film utilizes visual elements such as image composition and color, auditory elements such as music and sound effects, and in-depth dialogue to develop characters and narratives. In addition, digital distribution through streaming platforms gives the audience greater control over the viewing experience, allowing them to engage more deeply with the film. This study provides new insights into the influence of digital distribution on how multimodal elements are received by the audience, as well as its contribution to the study of multimodality in film.

Abstract

This research discusses the low skills in writing poetry texts in Indonesian language learning. Students still struggle with writing poetry texts because the skill of writing poetry is difficult for them due to a lack of ability to express their thoughts. The teaching methods used by Indonesian language educators have become one of the factors contributing to the low skills in writing poetry texts because they are still considered boring, as educators use quite old teaching methods that do not keep up with the times. Therefore, in this study, to determine the writer's ability to plan, implement, and evaluate Poetry Writing Learning Using the Expressive Writing Method, how is the students' ability to understand and write poetry before using the Expressive Writing Method, how is the students' ability to understand and write poetry after using the Expressive Writing Method, how is the difference in effectiveness between the experimental class and the control class in writing poetry using the Expressive Writing method as the experimental class compared to students using the regular writing method as the control class. In this study, a quantitative method with a Quasi Experimental Design was used, and the results of this research are as follows. The author was able to plan, implement, and evaluate poetry writing lessons using the Expressive Writing method, achieving very good scores. The students' ability to write poetry texts before using the Expressive Writing method had an average score of 59.35 in the experimental class, while the control class had a lower average score of 39.75. The students' ability to write poetry texts after using the Expressive Writing method had an average score of 80.90 in the experimental class and 63.35 in the control class. The improvement in students' learning outcomes in poetry writing lessons was observed in both the experimental and control classes, with an average score of 80.90 in the experimental class and 63.35 in the control class. The data shows that there was an improvement in poetry writing skills in both classes after the instruction was conducted. However, a more significant improvement occurred in the experimental class that used the expressive writing method.

Abstract

This research explores the syntactic errors that arise in writing descriptive texts by Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA) learners at the B1 and B2 levels at Bandung Independent School. In addition to describing the types of errors—including incorrect use of prepositions, word order, conjunctions, and pronouns—the study also analyzes the main causes and offers relevant teaching materials suggestions. Using qualitative descriptive methods and a document analysis approach, data was collected from 6 descriptive texts (3 participants at the B1 level, 3 participants at the B2 level), and then categorized based on error types. The results show that at the B1 level, word order errors are the most dominant (32%), while at the B2 level, the highest frequency of errors occurs in the use of conjunctions (28%). The main factors include negative transfer from the mother tongue, a weak understanding of complex clause structures, and a lack of contextual writing practice. Based on these findings, a syntactic exercise module, a focused feedback sheet, and group activities were developed to familiarize learners with the correct selection and placement of sentence elements. The implementation of teaching materials is expected to improve the accuracy of descriptive text writing for BIPA learners at both levels
