Abstract

Normality testing is an essential part of statistical analysis to determine whether observed data are normally distributed or not. This study aims to document and analyze various types of errors frequently made by non-mathematics students when conducting normality tests. Furthermore, this descriptive qualitative research involved 32 second-year non-mathematics students as participants, who were given tasks requiring them to perform normality tests on datasets. The research findings indicate that the most common type of error made by non-mathematics students in conducting normality tests is encoding error, accounting for 40.7% of errors. This occurs when students mistakenly compare decimal values between Lcalc and Ltable. Consequently, the conclusions drawn from these normality tests may be inaccurate. Additionally, other types of errors identified include reading error, comprehension error, transformation error, and process skills error.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the adaptive reasoning skill of students in solving mathematical problems based on the artisan, idealists, guardian and rational personality types. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The subjects of this research were 29 students in class VIIID of SMP Negeri 2 Labuapi for the 2024/2025 academic year. The interview subjects were 8 consistin, of 2 students with artisan personality type, 2 students with idealists personality type, 2 students with guardian personality type, and 2 students with rational personality type. The instruments used were personality type questionnaires, adaptive reasoning skill tests and interviews. The results of the analysis and discussion in this study indicate that students with artisan personality type have high adaptive reasoning skill, meeting five indicators of adaptive reasoning skill, namely making conjectures, providing reasons for answers, finding patterns, checking the truth of an argument, and drawing conclusions. Students with idealists’ personality type have high adaptive reasoning ability, meeting three indicators of adaptive reasoning skill, namely making conjectures, providing reasons for answers, and drawing conclusions. Students with guardian personality type have low adaptive reasoning skill and cannot meet the five indicators of adaptive reasoning skill. Students with rational personality type have moderate adaptive reasoning skill, meeting one indicator of adaptive reasoning skill, namely providing reasons for answers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan miskonsepsi dalam materi himpunan pada siswa kelas VII.A SMPN 5 Masbagik melalui tes three tier test. Miskonsepsi diidentifikasi menggunakan tes diagnostik three tier test.

Abstract

Technology plays a crucial role in enhancing students' interest and understanding, particularly at the elementary school level. Therefore, students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at the University of Mataram, participating in the 8th cohort of the Kampus Mengajar program and placed at SDN 04 Kuranji, developed the "Play with Quizizz" program. This article explores the implementation of Quizizz as a tool for teaching fifth-grade students at SDN 4 Kuranji using English. The program aimed to improve vocabulary acquisition, boost students' motivation to learn, and assist teachers in creating an interactive and engaging learning environment. The community service initiative involved several stages, including planning, implementation, and evaluation or refinement. The results demonstrated an increase in students' classroom engagement, as well as improvements in vocabulary and grammar comprehension. This article recommends the use of Quizizz as an innovative alternative learning medium, which can also be applied to other subjects to enhance the overall quality of education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Team Game Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model on the mathematical communication skills of 8th-grade students at SMPN 6 Masbagik. The research employed a quantitative approach using a true experimental method with a posttest only control group design. The population consisted of all 8th-grade students at SMPN 6 Masbagik in the 2024/2025 academic year, totaling 76 students. The sample was selected using a cluster random sampling technique, with two classes selected from three, namely classes VIIIA and VIIIB, each consisting of 26 students. The two classes received different treatments: class VIIIA as the experimental class using the TGT learning model, and class VIIIB as the control class using conventional learning. Data were collected through a mathematical communication skills test and observation. Data analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample t-Test, and an effect size test. The results showed that the average posttest score in the experimental class was 69.5, while the control class scored 55. The t-test result showed a t-count of 4.434 > t-table 2.008, indicating a significant difference. The effect size result of 1.09 falls into the large category. In conclusion, the TGT model significantly affects students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' errors in solving Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE) problems based on the SOLO taxonomy (Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome). This qualitative descriptive research involved 29 students from the Mathematics Education Study Program at the University of Mataram. Data were collected through essay tests and interviews, then analyzed using the SOLO taxonomy classification and error types based on the framework by Subanji and Mulyoto. The results show that most students were at the pre-structural, uni-structural, and multi-structural cognitive levels, with a dominance of conceptual and technical errors. Common mistakes included the use of incorrect formulas, errors in algebraic manipulation, and weak fundamental calculus skills. A lack of understanding of prerequisite concepts such as algebra and calculus was identified as the main factor contributing to these errors. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening basic concepts and implementing learning strategies based on the SOLO taxonomy to improve students' understanding of ODE topics

Abstract

Duality in linear programming is an essential concept in optimization-based decision making. However, many undergraduate students still struggle to understand and solve duality problems, especially when converting primal to dual models and interpreting their results. This study aimed to explore the learning strategies used by fifth-semester students in solving duality problems. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving 36 students from a mathematics education program. Data were collected through classroom observations, open-ended tasks, reflective writing, and interviews, and analyzed thematically. The findings revealed that most students (52.8%) used procedural repetition strategies, while others adopted conceptual elaboration (30.6%) and organizational strategies (16.6%). Students who used elaboration and organizational strategies demonstrated deeper conceptual understanding and greater problem-solving flexibility. These results suggest that procedural approaches still dominate, and instructional efforts should focus on fostering more reflective and meaningful learning strategies among students.
