Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explain how the obstacles experienced by mathematics education students through online learning during the pandemic. This research is descriptive research. Respondents in this study were students of mathematics education at the University of Mataram, amounting to 126 people. The data in this study were obtained through a questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics. The results showed that most of the obstacles experienced by students were in terms of internet networks and inadequate devices. In addition, students also have difficulty understanding lecture material online and feel that their motivation and interest in learning has decreased during the pandemic.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the validity of the learning media that have been developed for mathematical learning. The learning media developed were based on augmented reality to improve numeracy skills. This media also contains elements of ethnomathematics. This research is a development research using the Plomp design research model. As for one of the media criteria, it is considered eligible if it meets the valid criteria. The results of the research showed that the media expert rating showed very good classification with an average score of 50. The material expert rating indicated good classification with an average rating of 30.5. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that the learning media is declared valid.

Abstract

Blended learning is a learning that combines face-to-face and online learning. Several studies have shown that blended learning has a positive effect on collaborative skills. The aim of this study is to determine the collaborative skills of pre-service mathematics teachers after using blended learning. The focus of this study is 4 indicators of collaborative work skills, namely quality of work, problem solving skills, working with others, and focus on the task. This type of study is a case study. The participants were 23 pre-service mathematics teachers in second year. Data collection was carried out using a collaborative questionnaire. Data were analysed using quantitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the criterion for quality work of students was 47.83% average. The criterion for problem solving skills was 47.83% very high. The criterion of working with others was 86.96% very high. The criterion for focus on the task was 82.61% very high. Therefore, blended learning possesses positive effects towards pre-service mathematics teachers.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe errors output when pre-service mathematics teachers were writing output of the syntax that given in macro excel manually. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with 101 participants from 2nd year pre-service mathematics teachers from one of state university at Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia. Instrument used consists of one syntax that has 8 outputs when it is run and that will be analysed using Newman’s procedures. The eight outputs come from 3 types of output, namely text, numbers, and count. The result showed that the average percentage of syntax output writing errors was 87.13%. It also indicated to reading errors of 48.51%, comprehension errors of 18.81%, transformation errors of 83.17%, process skill errors of 20.79%, and encoding errors of 87.13%. Based on the result, errors occur when participants incorrectly write output and wrong in writing the result of the count. In addition, factors that caused these errors are 1) participants were not trained in providing information that was in the problem, 2) participants did not read the instructions in the problem correctly, and 3) participants did not pay attention to the suitability of syntax and output as was learned before. This research can be a reference for lecturers to develop learning about programming languages that can make students understand the use of syntax with the emphasis on manual syntax learning which will make their logic easier when applyng the syntax on a computer.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of interests and talents, facilities and learning motivation on students achievement (IPK). The population in this study were students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and students of the Faculty of Health Science in Universitas Nahdlatul Wathan Mataram, Indonesia. Samples used in this study were 33 students who were taken randomly. Data collection instruments using a questionnaire with a Likert scale that has been tested for validity and reliability before. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that: 1) learning facilities and motivation have a significant positive effect on student achievement (IPK), 2) interests and talents have no effect on student achievement (IPK), and 3) interests and talents, facilities and learning motivation simultaneously have an effect on significant on student learning achievement (IPK).

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' thinking levels based on Van Hiele's theory on quadrilaterals and triangles material in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII H SMP Negeri 1 Wanasaba. The instruments used are cognitive style tests, geometry tests, and interviews. The results showed that the cognitive style of students in class VIII H of SMP Negeri 1 Wanasaba was generally dominated by students with reflective and impulsive cognitive styles, 71.9% greater than students with fast accurate and slow inaccurate cognitive styles, namely 28.1%. Students with reflective cognitive style are generally at the analysis level (level 1). Reflektive students are able to identify the shapes of quadrilaterals and triangles, are able to determine the names of a quadrilateral and triangular shapes, are able to determine the properties and similarities of the properties. Students with impulsive cognitive style are generally at the visualization level (level 0). Impulsive student at this level are able to identify rectangular and triangular and are able to determine the names of flat shapes correctly but not yet complete.
