Abstract

The community service program "Waste Utilization for Welfare: Development of Compost Fertilizer and Eco Enzyme from the 4R Principle in Lhokseumawe City" aims to improve community welfare through the use of organic waste. The 4R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Replace) is the foundation of this program, which is to reduce the amount of waste and process waste into useful products such as compost and eco enzymes. The people of Lhokseumawe City are trained to make compost and eco enzyme fertilizers from household waste. Food scraps and foliage are converted into compost, which improves soil quality and increases local agricultural yields. On the other hand, eco enzymes, a liquid produced from the fermentation of organic waste, serve as a natural cleaner and liquid fertilizer that is economical and environmentally friendly. In addition, this activity provides knowledge to the community about the importance of good waste management to reduce the adverse impacts caused by waste. By applying the 4R principle, the community is expected to be able to manage daily waste more efficiently, resulting in products that are useful and have economic value. This training is also expected to encourage residents to make more money from waste treatment. By producing eco enzymes and compost, new business opportunities arise around. Overall, these efforts are not only concentrated on environmental issues, but also on improving the financial well-being of citizens. With effective waste management, it is hoped that the people of Lhokseumawe City will become more independent, environmentally conscious, and prosperous.

Abstract

Sports injuries are common and have significant physical and psychological impacts on athletes. Adequate knowledge of injury management is considered a key factor in prevention. This study aimed to analyze the influence of injury management knowledge level on injury incidence among student athletes. This observational study with a cross-sectional design involved 108 student athletes from the Physical Education Study Program, UNDIKMA, selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using an injury management knowledge questionnaire (25 items, Guttman scale) and injury history. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, Chi-Square test, t-test, and multivariable logistic regression. The results showed that 90.7% of respondents had experienced an injury (mostly mild). The average injury management knowledge score was 19.2 ± 2.8 (out of 25). Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between education history (p=0.048) and knowledge score (p=0.002) with injury incidence. The final logistic regression model revealed that a history of receiving injury management education (OR=3.330; 95% CI: 1.026-10.803) and a higher knowledge score (OR=0.750; 95% CI: 0.610-0.922) were significant protective factors against injury incidence. It is concluded that a higher level of injury management knowledge and education history are independently associated with a decrease in injury incidence among student athletes. Therefore, improving the quality and access to comprehensive injury management education programs is highly recommended.

Abstract

ABSTRACKThe quality of machining results in turning operations is strongly influenced by the surface finish produced. Surface roughness is a critical parameter for assessing machining performance as it directly affects wear resistance, efficiency, and the service life of components. Medium carbon steel AISI 1045 is widely applied in manufacturing industries, particularly for shafts, gears, and structural elements, due to its favorable mechanical properties. However, its surface finish is highly sensitive to machining parameters, making the selection of cutting conditions essential. This study aims to evaluate the effect of cutting speed and depth of cut on the surface roughness of AISI 1045 steel using conventional turning. Cylindrical specimens measuring Ø30 mm × 80 mm were machined with a carbide cutting tool under three cutting speeds (127, 225, and 510 rpm) and four depths of cut (0.2, 0.4, 0.4 and 0.6 mm). Surface roughness was measured using a Mitutoyo SJ-310 profilometer at four reference points, and the average Ra value was taken as the representative result. The findings reveal that the lowest cutting speed (127 m/min) combined with the smallest depth of cut (0.2 mm) produced the smoothest surface with Ra = 2.388 µm. In general, increasing cutting speed and depth of cut led to lowew roughness values, with the maximum recorded at 9.760 µm under certain extreme conditions. Several anomalies were also observed at high cutting speeds due to vibration and process instability. In conclusion, proper selection of machining parameters is crucial to achieving optimal surface quality while maintaining process efficiency. These results may serve as a practical reference for manufacturing industries in optimizing the turning of AISI 1045 steel.
