This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using flashcard media in improving the early reading skills of grade IA students at Daarul Muttaqien Integrated Islamic Elementary School Surabaya. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 grade IA students selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was an oral reading test administered in both the pretest and posttest, covering five aspects of reading ability: syllable spelling, pronunciation, syllable combination, reading fluency, and vocal clarity. The results showed a significant improvement in students' reading abilities after using flashcard media. The average pretest score of 72.26 increased to 93.06 in the posttest, with an average N-Gain score of 0.729 or 72.9%, categorized as high. These findings indicate that flashcard media is effective for teaching early reading skills in lower elementary grades.
