Abstract

Abstract Foreign ownership in total banking assets in Indonesia increased dramatically, while the government's share of ownership in the total assets of banks in Indonesia has decreased. Net interest margin of commercial banks in the years 2008-2011 has decreased, it indicates that banking competition increasingly fierce. One of the bank's efforts to compete is by diversifying revenue. This study aims to determine whether government ownership and foreign ownership in banks affects the income diversification. Income diversification undertaken by the bank is expected to reduce the bank's risk. In this study also examines the effect of diversification of income against the risk of the bank. The author uses a sample 87 listed banks in the Bank Indonesia during the period 2008-2012, with a sample size of 354 observations. Regression analysis showed that government ownership of banks has significant negative effect on income diversification, while foreign ownership of banks has significant positive effect on income diversification. In addition, income diversification has significant negative impact on risk. Keywords: government ownership, foreign ownership, income diversification, and bank risk.

Efisiensi memoderasi pengaruh positif diversifikasi internasional terhadap kinerja perusahaan.  The firm's performance is reflected in the increasing value of the company because the company is able to manage its resources. This requires management expertise, knowledge and management efficiency in managing resources and developing appropriate strategies. International diversification is a strategy implemented by companies in this era of globalization to develop international market share that can improve firm’s performance. Given the fact that resources are scarce, the need to be efficient is an important phenomenon in an effort to improve firm performance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of efficiency on the relationship between international diversification on the performance of manufacturing firms. Using the purposive sampling method and the research period between 2013-2017, we obtained data from 69 manufacturing firms with a total of 223 observations. There are two steps of the analytical technique used, namely the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and multiple linear regression method. We find that international diversification has a significant positive effect on the performance of manufacturing firms in Indonesia. Efficiency moderates the positive effect of international diversification on a firm's performance.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of foreign institutional shareholders (FIS) on corporate payout policy. The study employs 97 Indonesian manufacturing firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2011-2015. Multivariate Tobit and Logit are employed to estimate the model. The result confirms the bird in the hand theory that FISs need assurance of their investments in the emerging market. FIS has a monitoring role over the firms since they have the ability to detect the firm’s quality and the agency problem within. The result confirms that the presence of the FIS in the firm has a positive and significant effect on both measures of corporate payout policy, dividend to net income and dividend to total asset. The presence of the FIS increases the propensity of the firm to pay a dividend.

Abstract

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) has the benefit of enhancing organizational effectiveness, risk reporting, and improving business performance. The maturity measurement of ERM implementation is crucial in deducing risk management conditions and disparities within the company as means to achieve a more targeted ERM pursuance, one which is beneficial in assessing the company's condition. This study used sixteen criteria of ERM Maturity Models, to measure the maturity level of ERM implementation carried out by medium-sized industrial companies in priority sectors in East Java. Data were obtained from 137 company directors or managers of Medium Industry companies dispersed across 38 districts/cities in East Java among 6 priority sectors. Results showed that 43.5% and 46.6% of companies that experienced sales growth and an increase in net profit, respectively, are companies with optimal implementation of ERM. Meanwhile, 67% of companies that underwent a decline in sales performance and net profit turned out to be companies with weaker ERM implementation levels.

Abstract

This study examines whether the size of the board of commissioners and the proportion of independent commissioners affect the company's financial performance. This study uses a quantitative method with econometric calculations. Data were obtained from 236 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015-2019. The data were analyzed using panel data regression using three variables: the dependent variable ( dependent ), the independent variable ( independent ), and moderating variable. This research uses MRA ( Moderated Regression Analysis ) analysis technique which will be processed using STATA. This study proves that the size of the board of commissioners and the proportion of independent commissioners positively affect the company's financial performance. The test also involves a moderating variable in the form of government ownership. It results that the government ownership variable has no significant effect on the relationship between commissioners and financial performance. The findings of this study contribute as recommendations to stakeholders involved in the management of the company, especially public companies
