Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of efficiency of the financial performance of Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. This study uses a purposive sampling method and uses secondary data in the form of input and output variables from 2020 to 2024 at 10 selected Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS). Data processing was carried out using MaxDEA 12.2 software. The results of the study show that the average annual efficiency level is relatively stable, ranging from 0.773 to 0.817. 2023 recorded the highest average efficiency level, indicating an increase in input management in most banks. Conversely, 2022 was the period with the lowest efficiency, which was likely due to increasing inefficiency or less than optimal utilization of resources in that year. Individually, only Bank Panin Dubai Syariah, Bank Syariah Bukopin, and BTPN Syariah emerged as the banks with the most efficient performance, marked by efficiency scores approaching or reaching 1 in almost all years of the study.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the long-run and short-run relationship between the Islamic capital market and Islamic banking on Indonesia's economic growth over the period 2013-2023. Using a quantitative approach and the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method, this study analyzes the dynamics between these variables. The data used includes the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI), Islamic bonds, Islamic banking third-party funds (DPK), non-performing financing (NPF), and real gross domestic product (GDP) as an indicator of economic growth. The analysis shows that in the long run, both the Islamic capital market and Islamic banking contribute significantly to economic growth. However, in the short term, only a few variables show a significant effect. These findings confirm the strategic role of the Islamic financial sector in supporting sustainable economic growth, as well as the importance of strengthening and developing Islamic instruments to support national economic stability and progress.

Abstract

The halal status of goods consumed is important for people who embrace Islam. This is a necessity that has been explained in the Qur'an. In this study, consumption was related to the use of halal drugs or halal pharmaceuticals. In Indonesia, the use of halal pharmaceuticals is still minimal due to difficulties in procuring raw materials for halal pharmacy itself plus not all types of pharmaceutical products that have used halal raw materials have been labeled halal. This makes it more difficult for Muslims who want to take halal medicines,  even though Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world. This study aims to determine the effect of the level of knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of Padjadjaran University health students towards awareness of halal pharmaceutical labeling. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach and the method of data collection using the Random Sampling technique by distributing questionnaires to respondents. The results of data analysis show that the awareness of halal pharmaceuticals labeling is significantly and positively influenced by the variables of knowledge and perception while for the attitude variable has a positive but not significant effect.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of marketing mix strategies on business performance in the Sumedang tofu industry. The background of the study departs from the phenomenon of declining performance of Sumedang tofu businesses in the last two years as indicated by a decline in sales, customers, and profits, despite this industry having a significant contribution to the local economy. The marketing mix strategy in this study covers seven dimensions, namely product, price, promotion, place, people, process, and physical evidence. The research method uses a non-experimental quantitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and questionnaires with 284 Sumedang tofu business actors. Data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method using SmartPLS software. Model evaluation was carried out through validity and reliability testing, as well as testing the structural model to determine the relationship between variables. The results show that marketing strategies have a positive and significant effect on business performance. This is indicated by a path coefficient value of 0.481, a t-statistic of 10.998, and a p-value of 0.000. These findings indicate that the more effective marketing strategy management, the higher the business performance, as reflected in sales growth, customer growth, and increased profits.

Abstract

This article analyzes the performance of Islamic banking in Malaysia and Indonesia using a comprehensive evaluation framework. Malaysia is known for its leading role in Islamic finance, while Indonesia has faced criticism for slower growth. The study argues that assessing Islamic banking performance solely based on financial metrics is insufficient and proposes a broader framework based on the Maqasid Shariah (objectives of Islamic law) for a more objective standard. Using data from 2010 to 2019, the study constructs a Maqasid Shariah Index of Islamic Bank (MSI-iB) and adopts a T-test as well as a panel data model to evaluate their performance. The index includes five sub-indices representing different aspects of the Maqasid Shariah framework. Results show varied scores among Islamic banks in both countries with no statistical difference between the two countries, but with Indonesia leading in religiosity and intellectuality dimensions and Malaysia leading in the posterity dimension. These results challenge the perception that Malaysia's Islamic banking performance is inherently superior to Indonesia's based solely on financial metrics. Considering the Maqasid Shariah framework is crucial to evaluating Islamic banking performance, highlighting the significance of non-financial indicators. The study concludes that a comprehensive perspective is necessary, incorporating both financial and non-financial factors, to assess overall performance.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted the tourism sector, causing a drastic decline in visitors and significant economic losses. However, halal tourism in Indonesia showed signs of resilience and recovery. A research gap exists in understanding the specific factors that influence tourists' decisions to revisit halal destinations, especially after a global health crisis. This study addresses this gap by investigating the combined effects of halal reputation, adherence to COVID-19 protocols, and emotional value on tourist behavior. This study aimed to determine the influence of halal reputation, COVID-19 protocols, and emotional value on the decision to visit the Floating Market in Bandung. Data was collected from residents of West Java who had previously visited the destination. The research employed a sophisticated structural modeling approach for data analysis. The findings reveal that all three factors have a strong and positive influence on tourists' intention to visit. A solid halal reputation builds trust and confidence among Muslim tourists. Strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols provides a crucial sense of safety and security. Furthermore, positive emotional experiences and friendly service significantly encourage tourists to return. These results suggest that focusing on these key factors is essential for the sustainable development of halal tourism.

Abstract

MSMEs are currently still the largest sector that supports the majority of Indonesian people, but MSMEs business development tends to be difficult considering that banking sector tends to be careful when providing financing to MSMEs because this sector has a high NPF ratio. Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia made regulations PBI Number 23/13/PBI/2021 that requiring banks to increase financing for MSMEs, this creates a dilemma for Islamic banking because this can make worsen the health of bank due to the higher NPF. This study examines the factors that could influence the NPF of MSMEs Islamic banking such as equivalent rate of working capital financing, equivalent rate of investment financing, ROA, the amount of financing, and Inflation. This research is a quantitative study using multiple linear regression to determine the direction and how much influence the independent variables have on the dependent variable. From this study it was found that the two types of equivalent rates have the opposite impact on NPF where Islamic banking can actually reduce the equivalent rates to help MSMEs development while reducing the NPF ratio because Islamic banking ROA is still in the very healthy category and ROA is directly proportional to NPF if it is increased. Then, if Islamic banking increases the amount of financing for MSMEs will reduce the NPF and the effect of inflation will not affect the increase in the NPF of MSMEs financing.

Abstract

The Islamic capital market in Indonesia has witnessed significant progress, particularly in the development of products such as Shariah equity mutual funds. In the period 2017-2022, the Net Asset Value (NAV) of Shariah equity mutual funds reached IDR 153,40 trillion. However, in terms of performance, Shariah equity mutual funds still recorded minor results. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has endeavored to enhance the potential of the Islamic capital market through the launch of the Shariah Capital Market Roadmap 2020-2024. To evaluate the positive impact of this policy, this research examines the factors influencing the performance of Shariah equity mutual funds during the period 2017-2022. A quantitative descriptive approach is employed using non-probability judgement sampling. Panel data is analyzed using multiple linear regression, with dummy variables used to identify performance differences before and after the implementation of the Shariah Capital Market Roadmap 2020-2024. Research findings indicate that cashflow, IHSG (Indonesia Stock Exchange Composite Index), and the age of Shariah equity mutual funds significantly influence performance. However, the impact of NAV is observed but not statistically significant. The dummy variable shows a negative and significant value, indicating performance differences between the two observed periods
