Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to assess the impact of Gladdy Moddy (Glad Mom and Daddy), an intervention comprising education, a gratitude journal, and a support group, on maternal-fetal attachment and parental readiness. Methods: This research was conducted from June to July 2024 in the villages of Trengguli and Sidomukti, under the jurisdiction of the Jenawi Health Center in Karanganyar. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test was employed. A total of 23 couples were recruited using purposive sampling. Results: Initial scores for mother-fetus bonding, measured using the Prenatal Attachment Inventory (PAI), were 59.2, while scores for parental readiness, measured by the Maturity to Parenthood Scale (MPS), were 140.7. Post-test results indicated a significant increase, with PAI scores rising to 64.5 and MPS scores to 149.4. Bivariate analysis using a paired t-test revealed significance levels of 0.028 (p < 0.05) for PAI and 0.020 (p < 0.05) for MPS. Conclusion: The Gladdy Moddy intervention had a significant positive impact on prenatal attachment and parental readiness among mothers. This approach can be effectively used to prepare couples for parenthood and enhance the bond between mother and fetus.

Abstract

Background: Infertility affects approximately one in six individuals globally and remains a growing reproductive health concern, often linked to modifiable risk factors present before conception. Preconception care (PCC) has gained recognition as a preventive strategy, however the implementation of PCC at scale remains challenged and yet its research landscape in relation to infertility remains under-mapped.This study aimed to analyze global research trends on preconception care in the context of infertility prevention using bibliometric methods.Subjects and Method: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database, with data retrieved on May 12, 2024. The search strategy included terms related to PCC and infertility, yielding 486 eligible publications after screening. Included documents were English-language publications in final form, relevant to preconception care and infertility, and classified as articles, reviews, conference papers, or book materials. Analysis was performed using Scopus tools, Biblioshiny (R), and VOSviewer to examine publication trends, key contributors, and thematic evolution. Results: A total of 486 publications from 1991 to 2025 were identified, with an annual growth rate of 6.43%. Most documents were original articles (67.7%) and reviews (28.4%), authored by 2,529 contributors across 307 publication sources. Several national strategies have formalized PCC into broader public health policy to reduce disparities in pregnancy outcomes and unmet fertility needs, but there remains a critical gap in the global PCC research agenda, such as the heterogeneity in intervention protocols. Conclusion: Research on preconception care in the context of infertility prevention has expanded steadily. However, Future research should prioritize longitudinal and interventional studies, foster global collaboration, and align with broader reproductive justice goals to strengthen the evidence base. Ultimately, enhancing the visibility and implementation of PCC in both clinical and public health domains will be pivotal in addressing modifiable infertility risks and promoting equitable reproductive outcomes worldwide.

Abstract

Background: Circumstances in the early stages of development have a tremendous impact on a person's risk of developing diseases in adulthood. Numerous diseases can start in childhood and are generated by various traumas in early life, including improper treatment during pregnancy, maternal malnutrition, and maternal disease, one of which is diseases related to reproductive health. Premarital health screening is a series of tests that must be carried out by prospective brides and grooms before marriage, which aims to reduce the burden of inherited diseases by reducing the number of high-risk marriages. This study aimed to analyze the use of health screening among pre-marital couples through the Social Cognitive Theory. Subjects and Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Nias, Indonesia, in October-November 2024. A sample of 200 brides and grooms was selected using fixed disease sampling. The data were collected using questionnaire and analyzed using a path analysis. Results: Outcome expectation was positively and indirectly associated with pre-marital health screening (b= 0.58; 95% CI= 0.01 to 1.15; p= 0.046). Knowledge, reinforcement, and observational learning were indirectly associated with pre-marital health screening among pre-marital couples. Conclusion: Social cognitive theory can be used to predict health screening uptake among pre-marital couples.

Abstract

Background: Oral health is a reflection of general health. Children with disabilities are more prone to problems such as dental caries and periodontal disease compared to children in general due to various factors. Indonesia has 3.3% of children with disabilities aged 5 to 17 years old. Families, especially mothers, play a crucial role in maintaining the dental health of children with disabilities because they are responsible for meeting basic needs and oral hygiene. The Health Belief Model theory can be used to understand parental behavior related to the health of children's oral cavity. This study aims to examine the influence of factors in HBM theory on the oral health of children with special needs. Subjects and Method: This study uses a cross-sectional method conducted at Sukoharjo and B-C YPPALB Langenharjo schools for special needs children, Central Java, Indonesia. A total of 200 parents or guardians of children with disabilities were obtained by random sampling. The bound variable was in the form of oral health behavior while the independent variable was in the form of vulnerability perception, severity perception, benefit perception, obstacle perception, stimulus to act, and self-efficacy. The results of the study were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results: Oral Health Behavior increases with increased perception of vulnerability (b= 0.11; 95% CI= 0.11 to 0.21; p= 0.030), perception of severity (b= 0.16; 95% CI= 0.17 to 0.30; p= 0.028), perception of benefit (b= 0.12; 95% CI= 0.16 to 0.22; p= 0.024), stimulus to act (b= 0.18; 95% CI= 0.11 to 0.35; p= 0.037), and self-efficacy (b= 0.18; 95% CI= 0.11 to 0.26; p=0.000) and decreases with increasing perception of barriers (b= -0.15; 95% CI= -0.20 to - 0.11; p=<0.000). Conclusion: Perception of vulnerability, perception of severity, perception of benefit, stimulus to act and self-efficacy increase oral health behavior and perception of obstacles decreases oral health behavior.

Abstract

Fear generally fills the minds of pregnant women as they enter the third trimester of gestation. The older the gestational age, the more attention and thoughts of pregnant women are drawn to the approaching climax of childbirth, intensifying their anxiety and fear. This study aimed to assess the knowledge of birth preparedness and fear of childbirth. A qualitative facility-based descriptive study design and client exit interview questionnaire were utilized, conducted in Primary Health Care Mondokan, Sragen, from April until June 2023 with 33 pregnant women. Study participants were selected through purposive sampling. Three categories highlighted the preparedness for childbirth, including finding primary sources of information, the importance of birth companions, and reminding about the natural process of childbirth. The fear of childbirth was associated with fear of the childbirth process, fear of the tools used during childbirth, and the condition of the unborn baby. The findings suggest that pregnant women should prepare for childbirth and increase their knowledge of delivery by participating in antenatal classes to reduce fear about the childbirth process. Therefore, family healthcare providers, health facilities, other partners, program-level managers, and policymakers must take responsibility for improving health education and increasing preparedness and complication readiness through easily accessible health education strategies.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: ASI Eksklusif, Efikasi Diri, Penyuluhan, Pop-Up Book  ABSTRACT The low rate of exclusive breastfeeding is directly associated with mothers' lack of self-confidence, or breastfeeding self-efficacy. Nearly two out of three babies are not exclusively breastfed for the recommended six months, and this situation has shown little improvement over the last two decades. Breastfeeding stands as one of the most effective means to ensure the health and survival of children. Providing health education about breastfeeding during the third trimester can serve as a preparatory step towards nurturing a generation of capable parents. The aims of this study is to enhance the confidence of pregnant women in their readiness to breastfeed, with the hope that they can effectively overcome obstacles encountered during the breastfeeding process. This service was carried out through counseling and demonstrations, using the "SIASUI" pop-up book as a media for education. Counseling and demonstrations were conducted within the Mondokan Community Health Center's, Sragen, Central java. Following the intervention, which included the explanation of material related to breastfeeding, the respondents in the intervention group had an average score of 79 (SD=6.1), while the control group scored an average of 76.6 (SD=8.6). The "SIASUI" pop-up book can be considered as alternative media for enhancing breastfeeding self-efficacy in pregnant women. Keywords: Exclusive Breastfeeding, Self-Efficacy, Counseling, Pop-Up Book
