Abstract

Batik has added economic value as a cultural heritage, making it marketable at domestic and international levels. The most significant benefits of promoting batik products to the global market are bringing local values to global society, as well as the benefits of economic development for the domestic garment industry. Laweyan is one of the Solo districts specializing in batik cloth production. The sector in Laweyan produces painted and printed batik cloth, distributed not only in the local market but also in the global market. By using qualitative methods, this research analyses the innovation of batik products and marketing innovations of Batik Laweyan in penetrating the global market. The findings from this research conclude that producers in Laweyan Regency develop product innovations by adapting batik motifs with local nuances to international market tastes, and to encourage internationalization, producers use marketing innovations through a burden-sharing strategy. So, in terms of internationalization, local cultural values become an essential aspect of product innovation. In contrast, in terms of marketing, the burden-sharing strategy becomes an innovation to penetrate international markets. Through the burden-sharing approach, local producers build networks with foreign producers to obtain demand from foreign markets so that local producers can reach the world market by bridging the local industry and international markets.

Abstract

The ATIGA (Association of Southeast Asian Nations Trade in Goods Agreement) is an evolution of economic cooperation among ASEAN member countries which began in 1977 with the PTA (Preferential Trade Agreement) embryonic concept and was developed in the 1990s with the CEPT (Common Effective Preferential Tariff). It has driven a significant increase in intra-trade and external trade in the Southeast Asian region. The agreement was to establish a free trade zone that provides the concept of “preferences” by reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers for member countries in order to encourage regional economic growth through trade creation and trade diversion is considered capable of strengthening the integration of regional regionalism. Indonesia is one of the key players in ASEAN and is interested in being able to increase its role in trade and economic development in the Southeast Asian region. It continues to strive to ensure commitment to implement the ATIGA can be realized by opening the widest possible access for all elements. Indonesians can take advantage of the facilities provided in international agreements. This research uses a qualitative explanatory method. The research finding shows in line with the increase in the flow of goods and services in the region, the challenges of implementing a regional free trade zone are also increasingly complex and causing several impacts that need to be studied immediately, such as environmental issues, food security, terrorism, intellectual property rights, and human rights. The paradox of service versus security in service-oriented trade facilities should not simply abandon the element of oversight to safeguard national interests, one of which is in the aspect of fulfilling human security.

Abstract

This study examines the sister city partnership between Baubau, Indonesia, and Seoul, South Korea, with a focus on evaluating its alignment across cultural, educational, economic, and governance dimensions. The partnership was founded in 2009 with the goal of adopting Hangeul, Korea's phonetic writing system, to preserve the endangered Ciacia language. Although there are no historical or genealogical connections between the two cities, the partnership is the result of a calculated effort that has produced significant cultural and educational results. Through interviews with key stakeholders, document analysis, and field observations, the study employs six evaluative indicators ranging from cultural influence to community engagement to assess the partnership's impact. The resulting compatibility score of 17 indicates a moderate alignment, highlighting strengths in cultural revitalization and grassroots participation. However, the study identifies imbalances in cultural exchange and limited economic cooperation, suggesting a risk of cultural asymmetry and underutilized development potential. This paper provides the contention that though the partnership is a prime example of soft power diplomacy, it also requires evaluated approaches for ensuring equal representation and its continued viability. The results highlight how crucial reciprocal participation and contextual awareness are to subnational international cooperation, especially when working with groups that have different linguistic and cultural identities. Abstract

Digital transformation in primary education requires teachers to possess integrated technological and pedagogical competencies in order to design effective learning environments. However, disparities in digital readiness remain a significant challenge in many primary schools. This study aims to describe the role of graduates of the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) in strengthening digital learning practices in primary schools, to identify the challenges they encounter, and to examine the strategies employed to optimize the use of instructional technology. This research adopted a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using an interactive analysis process consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that PPG graduates contribute to improving the quality of digital lesson planning, the use of interactive learning media, and the implementation of technology-based assessment that supports students’ conceptual understanding and engagement. Digital learning practices also enhance instructional clarity and enrich students’ learning experiences through the use of diverse digital learning resources. Nevertheless, limited access to digital devices, unstable internet connectivity, and insufficient continuous professional development remain major barriers to effective digital learning implementation. This study concludes that PPG graduates play an important role as agents of digital transformation in primary education; however, the effectiveness of this role is highly dependent on systemic school support, infrastructure readiness, and the sustainability of teachers’ professional development.
