Abstract

This study aimed to produce project-oriented TPACK-based teaching materials (Technology Pedagogical Content Knowledge) that can improve the students’ creative thinking skills of elementary school teacher prospective students. This research used development research method (RnD) which was adapted from Borg & Gall. There were 10 Borg & Gall development procedures which are modified into 8 stages which were adapted to the conditions in the field. The results showed that the project-oriented TPACK-based teaching materials were suitable for use in learning with valid, practical, and effective criteria. The validation results from the average value of the expert validator of teaching materials and learning technology media show that teaching materials are considered valid both in terms of construct and content. Observations on the activity of lecturers and students which increased at each meeting indicated that practical teaching materials were applied in learning, as well as the results of students' creative thinking skills tests showed that teaching materials were effective in increasing the students’ creative thinking skills of prospective teacher. The implication of this research is the use of the right method can affect the achievement of creative thinking skills of students to be able to propose various alternative problem solving. The suggestions for further research are developing project-oriented TPACK-based teaching materials for elementary school students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of teaching materials based on the Canva application developed on improving the reading comprehension skills of grade 5 students. The approach used in this study was Design and Development (Ellis & Levy, 2010) with six steps, namely Identify the Problem, Describe the Objectives, Design & Develop the Artifact, Test the Artifact and Evaluate the Testing Result, Communicating the Testing Result and Dissemination. Data were collected through teacher interviews, questionnaires, pre-test and post-test. This study used a sample of 171 5th grade students in 3 elementary schools. The results of this study indicate that the use of teaching materials based on the Canva application has a significant effect on increasing the ability to read comprehension of information texts for grade 5 students. This is evidenced by the differences in students' reading comprehension abilities of information texts before and after learning by using application-based teaching materials. canva. This research has implications for the ease of teachers in achieving learning objectives with the support of teaching materials, media, worksheets and interesting and practical activities that are able to stimulate students in improving their reading comprehension skills, especially informational texts.

Abstract

This study aims to produce teaching materials oriented to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) that can improve the Construction Explanation and Designing Solutions (CEDs) skills of elementary school teacher candidates. This study uses the development research method (RnD) adapted from Borg & Gall. The 10 Borg&Gall development procedures were then modified into 8 stages which were adapted to the conditions in the field. The results of the study show that NGSS-oriented teaching materials are appropriate for use in learning with valid, practical, and effective criteria. The validation results obtained from the average value of the teaching material expert validator and learning media show that the teaching material is considered valid both in terms of construct and content. The results of observing the activity of lecturers and students increasing at each meeting indicate that practical teaching materials are applied in learning, as well as the results of student CEDs skills tests indicating that teaching materials are effective for improving the CEDs skills of prospective teacher students. The implication of this research is that the use of appropriate methods can affect the achievement of CEDs ability of prospective teachers to be able to present various alternative solutions to problems. The suggestions for further research are to develop NGSS-oriented teaching materials for elementary school students.

Abstract

Primary school teachers are required to be proficient in compiling learning tools. Based on the results of the observations, it was found that some teachers were not proficient in developing integrated thematic learning tools based on special models to improve students' reading comprehension skills. The purpose of this Community Service  (CS) is to improve the ability of teachers to compile integrated thematic learning tools based on the Interactive-Compensatory model and implement them in learning in their respective classes. The method used in the implementation of this CS is descriptive. The steps taken in implementing this CS are as follows: (1) Socialization, (2) initial observation (in the form of open interviews), (3) Implementation, (4) Checking learning tools and simulations (samples) of narsum modeling, (5) ) Implementation of learning with the recommended device (2 meetings), (6) Invoice in the form of documents from students, (7) Final evaluation. The results of this CS found that integrated thematic learning tools based on the Interactive-Compensatory model that was trained for SDN Cingcin 1 teachers were useful for improving the ability of teachers to design a special learning device to develop reading comprehension skills. This is evidenced by the results of the implementation in the field obtained an average percentage of more than 60% increase. Some things that must be considered in the application of this learning tool are the availability of supporting books and parental support

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out and examine the application of the Discovery Learning model to increase understanding of science concepts in the material on changes in the shape of objects, the difficulties of students and teachers in applying the Discovery Learning model to increase understanding of science concepts in the material on changes in the shape of objects. This research uses a mix method with the Sequential Explanatory Design. The instruments used in this research were tests, questionnaires and interview guides. The subjects in this research were 35 class V students at SDN Karyamulya. Apart from that, the difficulties faced by teachers are difficulty in providing motivation to students, limited teaching aids, difficulty managing time and difficulty conditioning students. Despite this, learning went well and optimally. Based on this, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning learning model is effective in improving the ability to understand science concepts in grade V elementary school.

Abstract

This research is based on the finding that every student has abilities and life values that they are not aware of regarding value education. This study aims to analyze learning planning in an effort to increase students' motivation and learning outcomes in social studies learning with the Value Clarification Technology method. The research design uses a quasi-experimental research model. The data collected is in the form of quantitative data through formative tests, analysis of observation sheets, and document analysis. The number of research subjects consisted of 60 students divided into two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. This research was conducted in a public school located in the Ciwidey District, Bandung Regency. The results showed that the application of the VCT model could increase students' motivation and learning outcomes in social studies learning. This is because the Value Clarification Technology model of the Value Analysis Type can be focused on things that are considered important by the teacher so that these important things can be observed in their entirety. The conclusion in this study is that learning using the Value Clarification Technique model of Value Analysis in Social Studies learning can increase students' motivation and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Rendahnya pemahaman konsep IPA pada siswa disebabkan oleh kurangnya motivasi dan minat belajar siswa, kurangnya partisipasi siswa, dan kurang maksimalnya penggunaan media pembelajaran sehingga membuat siswa merasa kesulitan untuk memahami materi IPA secara baik. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut peneliti mengembangakan produk berupa media pembelajaran berbasis powerpoint interaktif. Penelitiaan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon siswa pada penggunaan media powerpoint interaktif dalam proses pembelajaran dan juga untuk melihat adakah peningkatan pemahaman konsep IPA siswa pada penggunaan media powerpoint interaktif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni Research And Development (R&D) megadopsi pada model pengembangan Borg and Gall, penelitian ini dilakukan di SDP AL-Basyariah pada siswa kelas V. Penggunaan media powerpoint interaktif medapatkan respon yang sangat positif, hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil presentase rata-rata respon siswa. Pada uji coba produk diperoleh presentase sebesar 85% sedangkan pada uji pemakaian diperoleh presentase sebesar 81% kedua uji coba ini masuk pada kriteria sangat positif. Lalu untuk melihat adakah peningkatan pemahaman konsep pada siswa maka peneliti melakukan analisis uji N-Gain.  Pada uji coba produk diperoleh nilai sebesar 1,57 dengan kategor tinggi, sedangkan nilai N-Gain pada uji pemakaian diperoleh nilai sebesar 1,47 dengan kategori tinggi. Dengan demikian  media powerpoint interaktif dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep IPA siswa.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the difference in students' scientific literacy skills between students who apply the PjBL model integrated STEM-assisted science literacy modules and students who apply lecture learning accompanied by experiments. The subjects of this study were 60 Elementary Teacher Education students who were divided into two classes at IKIP Siliwangi Bandung. This study used a comparative research method with a quantitative approach. The data collection method used was the scientific literacy skills test method. The test instrument in this study measured three scientific literacy competencies, namely the ability to explain scientific phenomena, evaluate and design scientific investigations, and interpret scientific data and evidence. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and an Independent Sample T-Test. This study's results showed that the average scientific literacy ability of students who received the STEM-integrated PjBL model in this study was 83. The T-test of average students' scientific literacy ability showed that the PjBL model integrated STEM-assisted modules affected students' scientific literacy skills better than lecture learning accompanied by experiments. The recommendation of this study is further research to modify the STEM-integrated PjBL model assisted by this module to be more effective in improving students' ability to interpret scientific data and evidence.

Abstract

The determining factors for the success of the learning process are students and the teacher/lecturer as the person most responsible for implementing the learning process. This study aimed to describe the process of learning reflection as the professional development of Elementary School Teacher Education (ESTE) lecturers based on Didactical Design Research (DDR) in learning the Elementary Science Basic Concepts course. The method used in this research is qualitative. The research design used is phenomenology. This research was conducted at the ESTE Study Program, one of the tertiary institutions in Cimahi City. The participants in this study were an ESTE lecturer. Data collection techniques used in this study were participant observation, interviews, and focus group discussions. The data analysis technique used was Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The results showed that there were several learning obstacles in the form of epistemological obstacles, which occurred due to students' lack of knowledge related to the concepts they were learning and caused students to experience misconceptions. Then a hypothetical learning trajectory is compiled as a series of learning paths that students go through to achieve more meaningful learning goals. The limitation in this study is that the analysis of each step in the DDR process has not been fully described, so that for further research each step can be clearly described to see a more real impact from the lecturer professional development process that has been implemented.
