Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of students who are taught using the information search method, the learning outcomes of students who are taught using the card sort method, and a comparison of the learning outcomes of students who are taught using the information search method and the card sort method in class VII SMP Negeri 13 Medan .This research is a quantitative research, with a quasi-experimental type. The population is all class VII students of SMP Negeri 13 Medan for the 2021/2022 Academic Year which consists of five classes with a total of 160 students. The sample of this research was class VII-1 students who found 30 people as the experimental class 1 which uses the Information Search and VII-2 learning methods which find 30 people as an experimental class 2 which uses the Card Sort learning method. From the average learning outcomes obtained by students who were taught by the card sort information search method better than students who were taught by the card sort method. In the hypothesis test using the t-test with a significant level = 0.05. The price of tcount = 2.25, and ttable = 1.67 thus obtained the price of tcount > ttable or 2.25 <1.67, so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The conclusions of this study explained that the learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP Negeri 13 Medan on the subject matter of the quadrilaterals taught were significantly different from the method of information retrieval and sorting of cards.

Abstract

This study aims to: To determine the effect of the TAI type cooperative learning model on students' mathematical problem solving abilities in class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Padang Sidimpuan TP.2021/2022. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi research type experiment. The population is all class VIII students of MTs UMN Al-Washliyah Medan TP.2021/2022, which totals 120 students from 4 classes. While 2 classes were used as samples, namely class VIII-A totaling 30 students and class VIII-B totaling 30. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, testing and documentation. The test instrument used to determine students' mathematical problem solving abilities is an essay test in the form of a post-test. Data analysis was performed by normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing using the T-Test. The results of these findings indicate: 1) The ability to solve mathematical problems of students who are taught using the TAI type cooperative learning model is better than students who are taught by conventional learning models. 2) There is an influence of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model on students' mathematical problem solving abilities in class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Padang Sidimpuan TP.2021/2022 seen from tcount > ttable, namely 3.231 > 1.671. The conclusions of this study explain that there is an influence of the model cooperative learning type Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) on students' mathematical problem solving abilities in class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Padang Sidimpuan TP. 2021/2022.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a HOTS (Higher-Order Thinking Skills) assessment instrument based on numeracy literacy. This research employed a research and development method with 4D models. Feasibility analysis, discriminating index, item difficulty level, and product practicality were used in data collection techniques. The results showed that the average value of the item validity was 85.1% which indicated that this product is suitable for use as an assessment instrument. The discriminating index test obtained a value of  0.11 in the weak category, and the item difficulty level test obtained a value of 60% in the moderate category. Furthermore, The product practicality test on 30 students yielded an average score of 67.25%, which means that this product is practical. Thus, the instrument developed is feasible and practical as a stimulus to train higher-order thinking skills and increase cognitive knowledge in mathematics learning. Future research is expected to develop instruments in other mathematical materials.

Abstract

Mathematics is a science that is acquired through reason because one of the goals of mathematics education is for students to develop the ability to reason. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the Course Review Horay learning model on students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This research is a type of quantitative research. The sampling strategy of cluster random sampling was used to select the sample in this research. The instrument used to collect data is a test of mathematical reasoning abilities in the form of description questions. Normality test, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing with t-test are part of the data analysis approach of this research. Based on the results of the t-test analysis, the results obtained sig. (2-tailed), where the result is 0.000 which is smaller than 0.05. So, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Course Review Horay learning model on students' mathematical reasoning abilities.

Abstract

Mathematics is a basic science that has an important role. So, to achieve the objectives of learning mathematics, mathematical problem-solving abilities are needed. The mathematical problem-solving ability of the students of SMP PAB 3 Saintis at Deli Serdang is still very low. It is suspected that the Group Investigation and Rotation Trio Exchange learning models can improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of students' problem-solving abilities taught using Group Investigation and Rotation Trio Exchange. Data collection techniques in this research use tests. The tests carried out were students' mathematical problem-solving abilities (pretest and post-test). The data that has been collected is then analyzed using the validity test, reliability test, normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the problem-solving abilities of students taught using Group Investigation were more effective because students using the Group Investigation model had higher learning outcomes with an average score of 83.83 compared to those using Rotation Trio Exchange which obtained an average score of 75.32. Therefore, students' mathematical problem-solving abilities are more appropriate to be taught using Group Investigation rather than Rotation Trio Exchange.

Abstract

This study tries to find out if using the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model can improve the learning motivation and math problem-solving skills of eighth-grade students at MTs Akbar Insan Cendikia during the 2024/2025 school year. The study used a Quasi-Experiment method with a pre-test and post-test design that included both an experimental group and a control group. A total of 60 students were chosen through a purposive sampling method, with class VIII-A serving as the experimental group and VIII-B as the control group, each having 30 students. The tools used to collect data were a questionnaire to measure learning motivation and a test to assess problem-solving abilities. The data was analyzed using a t-test after checking for pretest scores, normality, and homogeneity. The results showed that the CPS model had a strong impact on increasing students' learning motivation, as the t-value obtained was 2.472, which is higher than the t-value from the table (2.002). It also had a significant effect on improving students' math problem-solving skills, with a t-value of 2.250, again higher than the t-value from the table (2.002). These findings show that the Creative Problem Solving model can be a good and effective method to enhance math learning in secondary schools.
