Abstract

This article aims to examine the description of counselee in the counseling process according to Surah Asy Syams, which is based on the author's reflection during counseling practice using the Qur'an media. Researchers found that counselees in the counseling process generally divided into three broad categories namely, (1) counselee based on growth and development level expressed based on sura Al Mukmin verse 67; (2) a special treatment counsel to women, referring to the Bukhari and Muslim narrated by Abu Hurairah Ra who calls women a crooked rib; and (3) the last counselor with special needs refers to Abasa 'verses 1-11. The counselee description in the counseling process based on the surah Asy Syams is divided into three parts: (1) the counselee has not understood the obstacles of his whole (sura Asy Shams verses 1-6); (2) the counselee when he finds out how to solve the obstacles he experienced (sura Asy Shams verses 7-10); and finally, the condition of the counselee who does not want to change the obstacles he experienced by analogizing the Thamud experienced (Surah Asy Syams verses 11 through 15)

Abstract

Teenagers often become victims and perpetrators of body shaming carried out by those closest to them, such as family, community, and friends, by joking. Ignorant adolescents will not respond to these comments, but adolescents who cannot accept comments from their environment tend to blame themselves. This study aims to determine the effect of body shaming on self-blaming in students of SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin. This study used an observational method with a cross-sectional design and random sampling and obtained 239 samples. The analysis technique uses simple linear regression. The instruments used in this study were the body shaming scale by Vargas and the self-blaming scale by Coleman. The independent variable in this study is body shaming, and the dependent variable is self-blame. The results showed that there was an effect of body shaming on self-blaming in students of SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin. This study concluded that body shaming by students of SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin was classified as very high and resulted in students who were victims of body shaming experiencing moderate self-blaming. There is a significant influence between body shaming and self-blaming on students.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of birth order on self-confidence and emotional stability among university students residing in wetland communities. Using a quantitative survey design, 200 students, comprising 100 firstborns and 100 lastborns, from Lambung Mangkurat University were assessed using the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS). Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney tests, and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) were used to analyze the data. Results indicated that firstborn students exhibited significantly higher self-confidence (M = 3.57, SD = 1.26) and emotional stability (M = 3.43, SD = 1.26) than lastborns (p < .05). Family expectations and academic experiences emerged as key influences. SEM revealed that self-confidence strongly predicts emotional stability (β = 0.52, p < .001), with family background and educational experience having moderate effects. The findings underscore the psychological challenges faced by students in geographically isolated, resource-limited wetland environments. Tailored counseling interventions are recommended, particularly for lastborn students. Future research should investigate the intersection of cross-cultural and environmental factors. Keywords: self-confidence, emotional stability, birth order, wetland communities, Edwards Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS)

Abstract

This research is important because the increasing cases of cyberbullying among adolescents, particularly vocational high school students in wetland communities, pose serious risks to their psychological Well-being and social relationships. The study aims to map the characteristics, influencing factors, and interaction patterns within adolescents’ social systems in cases of cyberbullying, using Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory. A total of 798 vocational students in South Kalimantan participated in the study. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire grounded in five ecological systems, validated through expert review and Exploratory Factor Analysis (KMO > 0.5; factor loading > 0.5), with Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70. Data were analysed using SPSS 25 with descriptive, correlation, and factor analyses. The findings reveal that the microsystem, particularly peer relationships and social media interactions, is the most dominant determinant of cyberbullying behaviour in wetland communities. Abstract

Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) is an important religious competition for the Muslim community in Indonesia. However, many participants face challenges in fostering optimal achievement motivation. Observations in Tapin Regency revealed that inadequate psychological support is a major factor affecting participants' motivation. This community service activity aims to enhance the achievement motivation of MTQ participants through psychological training. The training was conducted on April 6, 2024, with 60 participants, using a workshop method that included stress management techniques, confidence building, and motivational strategies. The results were measured using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and analysed with descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. The analysis showed a significant increase in participants' motivation and confidence, with an average increase of 15 points. A total of 75% of participants experienced a significant increase in motivation, 16.67% experienced a moderate increase, and 8.33% showed no significant change. The psychological training proved effective in enhancing the achievement motivation of MTQ participants in Tapin Regency. These results are expected to help participants achieve better performance in MTQ competitions.
