Abstract

Sport is universal, loved by many people in almost all countries worldwide. As a sport that can be played by many people from all walks of life, football has the potential to be a sport capable of bringing about a spirit of unity and solidarity in a society. However, football can sometimes spark conflict and violence. Excessive football enthusiasm can lead football fans and supporters to become anarchistic and assault individuals who support other teams. This can result in material damages, injuries, and even the loss of life. This essay will examine football fanaticism and football fan violence. Using the ABC conflict triangle theory introduced by Johan Galtung, researchers will analyze how attitudes, behaviors, and contradictions that fans and supporters of football clubs own can trigger football fanaticism and violence. The researchers concluded that these three factors played a role in the outbreak of violence, coupled with other factors such as educational level and socio-economic conditions. The researcher believes that the government, through football organizations, can play a role in suppressing football fanaticism and preventing violence from occurring before, during and after football matches are held. As the core and main part of football, fans and supporters of football clubs must be self-aware and try to be more rational, calm, and not easily provoked to make football a sport that truly unites and is full of solidarity.

Abstract

The development of radicalism has reached all corners of the world, including the Southeast Asian region. The main target for recruiting radicalism movements is young people, especially students. This paper examines the efforts of campus institutions and students in anticipating the influence of radicalism, especially in the campus environment. The study was conducted on students in Indonesia and Malaysia. The method used in this paper is qualitative, through in-depth interviews, focus group discussion (FGD), and document review. This paper finds that students in Indonesia and Malaysia have become aware of the rise of radicalism in their countries, so various responses have been followed to protect themselves from the dangers of this ideology. Efforts undertaken by the campus include a policy of disseminating an understanding of religious or Islamic moderation wasatiyah. Meanwhile, the efforts made by students to fortify themselves include independent efforts through an independent search for knowledge and learning in class, friendship relations, student discussions, and access to social media. All efforts made by campuses and students are part of instrumental actions using campus institutions as bureaucracy. This paper argues that radicalism as a collective action can be anticipated through collective social action, such as by utilizing available instruments.

Abstract

Abstract

The study of hatred that emerges as human nature can provide an analytical picture of how hatred arises, develops, and turns into humanitarian incidents. With an in-depth, systematic, and genealogical study, it can come up with a panacea for this hatred. The elixir can turn hatred into compassion, violence into nonviolence, and find creative ways to turn conflict into peace; thus, creating a new, better reality. This qualitative research uses a literature study from Risale-i Nur by Bediüzzaman Said Nursi (1877-1960). In this study, Nursi's religious and psychological explanations are compared with religious theories and studies of peace and conflict that are already popular in the Western world. The data in Risale-i Nur were analysed using the Mimesis theoretical framework of the philosophical approach. With this analysis there is the prefiguration stage (Mimesis I) about the background of Said Nursi's life, the configuration stage (Mimesis II) about the story of Said Nursi's traumatic experience, and the transfiguration stage about the emergence of the capacity to handle conflict independently with others using nonviolent ideas creatively, thus creating a new reality (Mimesis III). This new reality is "nonviolent Islam," which transforms conflict nonviolently, overcoming hatred with compassion and forgiveness. This statement is based on the argument that hatred is the root of violence, and Said Nursi can escape the trap of hatred through compassion and forgiveness. This study can contribute ideas to the study of moral philosophy and can also be used as a reference for training modules and sharing experiences to reduce conflict in society or between communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integrative concept of Islamic humanism formulated by Ahmad Syafii Maarif in the context of Indonesian socio-political dynamics and religious pluralism. The research addresses the critical need to bridge Islamic values, Indonesian identity, and humanitarian ethics in response to the rise of religious exclusivism and secular-liberal tendencies. Employing a qualitative approach with a library research design, this study applies thematic coding to analyze primary texts by Syafii Maarif and relevant scholarly interpretations. The findings reveal that Syafii Maarif offers a paradigm of substantive Islam that harmonizes rationality, democracy, and social ethics while rejecting formalistic and doctrinaire approaches to religion. His thought draws inspiration from reformist figures such as Fazlur Rahman and Muhammad Iqbal, but is distinct in its contextual application within Indonesian democracy and civil society. The implications of this study suggest the need for a reorientation of Islamic discourse in Indonesia toward inclusivity, pluralism, and active citizenship. This research contributes to the development of Islamic thought by presenting a comprehensive and contextualized interpretation of Islam that affirms both national identity and universal humanitarian values. The originality of this research lies in its integration of philosophical, theological, and political dimensions within a single conceptual framework, offering new insights into the role of Islam in fostering democratic ethics and social cohesion in plural societies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the traditional pesantren kobong Bintang Sembilan Wali (BIWALI) in Banten reconstructs Islamic political theology through digital media during the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. The research addresses the urgency of understanding how religious institutions adapt to algorithmic political communication and navigate the blurred boundaries between dakwah and electoral propaganda. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the study combines online observation of BIWALI’s official social media accounts with literature analysis to examine the epistemological, sociological, and practical dimensions of digital dakwah content. The findings reveal three major insights: first, BIWALI transforms the authority of the kitab kuning into algorithmically shaped visual narratives; second, it uses moral dakwah as a strategic medium for political endorsement; and third, it triggers public polarization that challenges the singular authority of pesantren in digital discourse. These results suggest that pesantren have evolved into active political actors capable of shaping public opinion in the digital sphere. The research contributes to the fields of Islamic communication, digital religion, and political theology by showing how pesantren function as producers—not merely preservers—of Islamic discourse. Its originality lies in exploring pesantren kobong as algorithmic agents that reinterpret religious authority and communication ethics in the age of viral politics, offering a fresh theoretical and empirical perspective to the study of Islamic institutions in contemporary democracy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the shifting causes of hate speech on social media during Indonesia's 2024 political year, from individual motivations to structural factors involving economic and political interests, particularly in the context of religion and culture-based hate speech. It also examines how Islamic mass organizations—such as the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and Muhammadiyah—respond to the phenomenon of buzzers spreading hate through religious narratives and political identity. This research uses a qualitative approach, employing online observation, in-depth interviews, and literature review. The main findings reveal that hate speech does not solely stem from ideological fanaticism but also from economic pressures and a well-organized digital political architecture. Buzzers operate as paid agents within a content-production system that profits from hate, rather than acting on personal or ideological impulses. Meanwhile, the responses of Islamic organizations remain largely normative and moralistic. However, groups like NU have begun to adopt more structural interpretations of the issue. Despite this shift, the absence of systematic digital strategies and economic empowerment efforts has prevented these responses from addressing the root causes. This research offers an original contribution by connecting the economic dimensions of hate speech production with the socio-religious responses to it—an intersection that has received limited attention in studies of media and digital politics in Indonesia.

Abstract

Konklusinya bersifat afirmatif sejauh interpretasi dimungkinkan.
