Abstract

Tectonic activity along active faults in Indonesia has a high potential to cause earthquakes with magnitudes greater than 6.5. This research focuses on the Garsela Fault in Garut Regency, West Java, which has a history of shallow earthquakes occuring near nationally important infrastructure. Morphotectonic analysis, Maximum Credible Earthquake (MCE) calculations, geological structure measurements, and subsurface condition assessments were conducted to determine the tectonic activity around the Garsela Fault and its fault mechanism. The analysis results show that tectonic activity in Garut Regency ranges from low to high. The Garsela Fault is divided into two segments with different fault systems: the Rakutai Segment, a normal fault (16.22 km), and the Kencana Segment, a strike-slip fault (17.33 km). MCE calculations for the Garsela Fault indicate potential maximum magnitudes of 5.42, 5.54, 6.28, and 6.54. Shallow earthquakes may produce stronger tremors in the western part of the Rakutai Segment compared to the east. In addition, earthquakes originating from the Kencana Segment may also generate tremors in the southern part of Garut Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the influence of brand image and promotion on purchase decisions on the Shopee e-commerce platform, focusing on Nurul Jadid University students. The background of the research is based on the rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia and the increasing competitiveness between digital platforms, where brand image and promotion are strategic factors in influencing consumers. The approach used is quantitative associative with the survey method through the distribution of online questionnaires. The research population was 4,762 students with a sample of 369 respondents, using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The research instruments were tested for validity and reliability with satisfactory results (r-count > r-table and Cronbach's Alpha > 0.7). Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression, F test, t test, and classical assumption test. The results showed that brand image and promotion simultaneously had a significant effect on purchasing decisions (F-count = 158,132; Sig = 0.000). Partially, brand image had a positive effect with a regression coefficient value of 0.337 (t-count = 6.674), while promotion had a significant effect with a regression coefficient of 0.283 (t-count = 8.736). The value of the determination coefficient (R²) of 0.464 indicates that 46.4% of the variation in purchasing decisions can be explained by both variables, while the rest is influenced by other factors. These findings confirm the power of a positive brand image, combined with innovative promotional strategies such as discounts, free shipping, interactive campaigns, and the use of influencers, to encourage consumers, especially students, to make purchasing decisions. The practical implications of this study indicate that Shopee and other digital business actors need to strengthen positive brand perceptions and increase the effectiveness of promotions to win competition in the digital era.

Abstract

Mathematics learning on fraction addition in elementary schools still demonstrates low levels of students’ conceptual understanding. This condition is largely caused by the abstract nature of fraction concepts and the limited use of concrete learning media in classroom instruction. This study aims to develop and implement a concrete teaching aid known as the Rainbow Board to support the teaching of fraction addition for fifth-grade elementary school students. The research employed an instructional development method consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation was conducted with fifth-grade students of SDN Cintamanik 02 through group-based learning activities that utilized colored fraction pieces as visual representations of fraction addition concepts. The results of the study indicate that the use of the Rainbow Board had a positive impact on students’ conceptual understanding and learning outcomes. The average student score increased from 63.85 before the use of the teaching aid to 81.15 after its implementation. These findings demonstrate that the Rainbow Board is effective in transforming abstract fraction addition concepts into concrete and meaningful learning experiences, thereby enhancing students’ understanding in elementary mathematics learning. Abstract

Thermal comfort in worship spaces is an important aspect that affects the quality of religious activities. However, intermittently occupied worship spaces, such as mosques during Jummah prayers, often experience spikes in heat load due to the accumulation of sensible and latent heat from occupants and solar radiation. This study aims to analyze the actual cooling load and determine the cooling load required to achieve a comfortable room temperature based on the Cooling Load Temperature Difference (CLTD) method. Temperature measurements were taken using data loggers at one outdoor point and nine indoor points during five Fridays between October 10 and November 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. Cooling load calculations were based on occupancy variations of 100, 300, and 600 people and comfort temperature targets of 23°C, 25°C, and 27°C. The results showed that the temperature in the worship hall was well above the thermal comfort limit. The actual cooling load increased significantly between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. WIB and during peak occupancy, reaching a peak load of 570,116.3 Btu/h. To achieve a comfortable room temperature, the cooling capacity needs to be increased by 8–35%. The final capacity recommendation based on the measurements and ASHRAE standards ranges from 44–69 TR. It can be concluded that the cooling system of Al-Furqon Mosque is currently under capacity and requires increased capacity and adaptive operational strategies to achieve thermal comfort in intermittently occupied worship spaces in a tropical climate.
