Abstract

In the era of rapid technological development, maintaining interest in reading traditional literary works such as novels has become increasingly challenging. Despite the abundance of research on reading habits, studies examining how contemporary novels can sustain and enhance reading interest in the digital era remain limited. This research aims to explore the role of novels in fostering reading interest in the digital era, focusing on how literary elements can engage modern readers. This study employs a literature review method with a pragmatic approach, which examines literary works as tools for conveying specific messages or intentions to readers. The object of this research is Rapijali: Seeking, Becoming, Returning by Dee Lestari, a novel with the potential to stimulate reading interest across various age groups. Data were collected through intensive reading and note-taking techniques, followed by qualitative analysis to identify key themes and messages. The findings reveal that Rapijali conveys moral values such as hard work, mutual respect, and humility, subtly influencing readers' perspectives. Additionally, the novel’s accessible language, engaging storyline, and serialized format contribute to its appeal, making it an effective medium for promoting reading habits in the digital age. These results imply that well-crafted literary works can still play a significant role in cultivating a culture of reading, even amid technological distractions.

Abstract

This study explores Ruang Guru Clash of Champion (COC) as an edutainment phenomenon in the digital education landscape. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research analyzes how COC integrates education and entertainment through the concept of edutainment. Data were collected from 15 videos published on Ruang Guru's official YouTube channel and analyzed using Saussure's theory of signification, which includes elements of the signifier and the signified. The findings indicate that COC comply to edutainment principles by presenting engaging, interactive, and competitive learning experiences. The competition is constructed as a prestigious academic event through visual elements such as a coliseum-shaped stage, medals and trophies as symbols of achievement, and alma mater jackets representing institutional identity and pride. Additionally, the role of tutors, both in digital form (Aurora) and as global mentor figures (Heo Seong Beom), streghten the image of innovative modern education. The study concludes that COC not only delivers education in an entertaining format but also shapes a new perception of academic competition as a dynamic, prestigious, and technology-driven experience. Thus, COC exemplifies how the education industry can adapt edutainment strategies to attract the digital generation.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia, an archipelagic nation comprising over 17,000 islands, encounters ongoing difficulties in providing equitable access to quality education throughout its many areas.Aims: This study investigates the implementation of Open and Distance Education (ODE) as a crucial approach for enhancing educational accessibility in isolated regions. Through the application of digital technologies and adaptable learning frameworks, ODE surmounts geographical, economic, and infrastructural obstacles that frequently constrain conventional educationMethods: ODE allows learners to obtain quality education irrespective of their geographical location, promoting inclusion and opportunities for lifelong learning. This study employed qualitative methods to investigate and analyze educational access in rural regionsResults: The efficacy of ODE is contingent upon several crucial aspects, including internet connectivity, digital literacy, and governmental assistance in policy and infrastructure development. Addressing these obstacles will guarantee that ODE evolves into a lasting solution for enhancing educational equity and empowering communities in remote areas. Conclusion: Open and Distance Education has demonstrated its efficacy in broadening educational access, particularly in isolated regions. The adoption of distance education enables students to learn at their own pace and under their own circumstances, without dependence on traditional educational infrastructure, which is frequently limited in remote areas. This strategy also enables educators to engage a greater number of pupils using more efficient resources.

Abstract

Digital safety has emerged as a critical issue that demands serious attention, particularly among younger generations. Amidst the rapid advancement of technology, adolescents' ability to safeguard their personal digital security and avoid risks such as hoaxes, phishing, cyberbullying, the spread of harmful content, and various forms of online fraud has become increasingly essential. Digital safety education plays a vital role in equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to confront these challenges intelligently and critically. A community engagement program conducted at SMP PGRI 1 Ciputat focused on delivering digital safety training to junior high school students, an age group situated in a crucial phase of identity and digital character formation. Evaluation results from this program revealed that 100% of participants comprehended the material presented and felt motivated to implement it in their daily digital practices. Participants demonstrated positive behavioral changes, including increased caution in sharing personal information, enhanced accuracy in verifying online content, and improved awareness in identifying and avoiding suspicious links or content. These changes also reflected greater vigilance in their overall use of digital platforms. These findings suggest that well-targeted digital safety training can serve as a strategic initiative to cultivate a generation of digitally responsible, resilient, and secure adolescents
