Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phatic function of language in Itakrn's novel Samuel. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive research with the content analysis method. The researcher focused this research using Roman Jakobson's language function theory which states that the phatic function of language consists of four parts, namely: conversation starters, conversation continuation, conversation closings, and expressions in casual chats. The data source for this study was obtained from Itakrn's novel Samuel, the second edition in April 2022 published by PT Akad Media Cakrawala in 2022. Data collection in this study used reading and note-taking techniques. The results of this study indicate that there are four parts of the phatic function in Itakrn's novel Samuel.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the expressive function of language in Asriaci's novel MeloDylan. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive research with a content analysis method. The researcher focuses on this research using the theory of language function according to Roman Jakobson which states that expressive or emotive functions in delivery that aims to directly express the feelings, emotions or attitudes of the speaker to the topic he or she is discussing. The source of data for this research was obtained from the novel MeloDylan by Asriaci which was first published on the wattpad application and printed in May 2017 published by Coconut Books. Data collection in this study uses reading techniques and recording techniques. The results of this study show that there are three parts of the expressive function of language in the novel MeloDylan by Asriaci.

Abstract

This research aims to explain how these heroic values are reflected in the actions and characters of the main characters in the novel Kekal by Jalu Kancana and find out their application in language and literature learning at SMA Negeri 1 Parigi. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive research with a content analysis method. The research focuses on the assessment of the value of hard work, the value of discipline, the value of independence, the value of independence, the value of cooperation, and the value of compassion, as well as to find out its application in Indonesian learning at SMA Negeri 1 Parigi. The results of the data findings found are in the form of quotes that contain elements of heroic values and educational values, referring to the theories of educational values of the types of data findings of each other, and after that the findings are in the form of quotes of educational values that have been expressed by experts. Next, it is grouped into the types of data findings, and after that the data findings are narrated. The next data findings will be observed by two teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Parigi. Based on the studies that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the novel Kekal by Jalu Kancana as a result of data findings amounted to 69 educational values, which were divided into the value of hard work amounting to 20 data citations, the discipline value of 8 data, the independent value of 6 data, the value of cooperation amounting to 13 data, and the value of affection 20 data. From the results of this research, the value of hard work, the value of affection, and the value of cooperation are very visible in this novel. Therefore, the novel Kekal Karya Jalu Kancana can be applied in Indonesian learning at SMA Negeri 1 Parigi. Thus, it can be concluded that the results of this research are suitable for application in the learning of Indonesian Language and Literature at SMA Negeri 1 Parigi.

Abstract

This research aims to outline the language roles found in the novel "Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra" by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The study utilized qualitative descriptive research employing content analysis methods. The researcher focused this study by using Roman Jakobson's theory of language functions, which proposes that language functions consist of six functions: referential, emotive, poetic, phatic, conative, and metalingual functions. The data source for this study was obtained from the novel Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, the 27th edition published by Republika Publisher in 2019. Data collection in this study used reading and note-taking techniques. The results of this study indicate that there are six language functions in the novel Pudarnya Pesona Cleopatra by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The total data included in these six functions amounted to 212 data points. The dominant language functions are the emotive function with 87 data points and the referential function with 77 data points.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to describe the social conflict in the novel "Orang-Orang Proyek" by Ahmad Tohari. This research uses a sociological perspective of literature based on the Theory of Power and Domination (Ralf Dahrendorf). Dahrendorf developed Marx's theory with a greater emphasis on authority structures within social organizations. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method using textual analysis. The data source for this research is the novel "Orang-Orang Proyek" by Ahmad Tohari. The data collection technique used in this research is library research using written data sources. Three data analysis techniques are used in this study: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study reveal eight structural conflicts, fifteen class conflicts, and fourteen political and economic conflicts throughout the story.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the symbolic and philosophical meaning contained in taiganja, one of the cultural objects that has important value in the life of the Kaili tribe in Central Sulawesi. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The data collection techniques used in this study are: 1) Observation (Observation), 2) Interview, 3) Documentation. The technical data analysis in this study is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of this study show that taiganja is not just jewelry or decorative objects, but a symbol of identity, social status, and spirituality of the Kaili community. The shape of the taiganja circle symbolizes the cycle of life and balance between humans and nature, while the ornaments contain the meaning of fertility, strength, and protection. Philosophically, taiganja reflects the life view of the Kaili people who uphold harmony, togetherness, and respect for ancestors. In addition, this study emphasizes that through semiotic analysis, taiganja can be understood as a system of cultural signs that strengthens the identity and noble values of the Kaili community. This research is expected to contribute to the preservation of local cultural heritage and enrich the study of semiotics in the cultural context of the archipelago.
