Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and quality of life among students with disabilities. The method used was quantitative with a correlational design. The participants involved in this study were 33 students with disabilities chosen using snowball sampling. The research measurement used the Smartphone Addiction Scale (α = 0.943) and WHOQOL-BREF (α = 0.941). The results showed that there was no significant negative relationship between smartphone addiction and quality of life among students with disabilities (r = -0.238 and sig. = 0.091). These results indicate that the failure to achieve a quality of life for students with disabilities is not caused by smartphone addiction tendency. The use of smartphones can be controlled in a balanced way by students with disabilities in their daily activities so that it does not have a negative impact on their quality of life.

Abstract

Society 5.0 emphasizes that technology and its functions are parts of human life and that human resources or employees are one of the most important parts of technological and industrial progress. In order to achieve better progress in an industry, the importance of perceived organizational support for the psychological well-being of employees working in the industry is significant. The purpose of the present study is to examine the effect of perceived organizational support on the psychological well-being of employees. The study employed the correlational quantitative method with a quota sampling technique. There were 52 participants who were employees of the company. The study used the scale of perceived organizational support (α = 0.880) compiled by researchers based on the theory of Eisenberger et al. (2002). The scale of psychological well-being (α = 0.917) compiled by Fadhil (2021) based on the theory developed by Ryff (1989) was also used. Data analysis results showed a correlation coefficient r of 0.218 with sig. = 0.120 (p>0.05), indicating that perceived organizational support had no significant effect on the employees’ psychological well-being because it was caused by other factors.

Abstract

Adjustment is the ability to plan and organize responses in such a way that one can control or respond to all kinds of conflicts, life difficulties, and frustrations efficiently. To continue to adapt, it takes the ability to survive in difficult circumstances. Individuals who can stay in the face of adversity are resilient. Resilience is very much needed in former drug addicts so that they can help them adjust to their new environment, and not slump and cause depression, prolonged sadness, and even suicide. This study aims to determine the relationship between resilience and personal adjustment among former drug addicts. The method used is correlational quantitative. A total of 34 former drug addicts became participants using the snowball sampling technique. The scale used consists of two scales, namely, the resilience scale (α = 0.903) and the personal adjustment scale (α = 0.910). The study's results prove that there is a significant positive relationship between resilience and personal adjustment with a value of r = 0.866 and a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.01). These results indicate that resilience is one of the factors associated with the increased personal adjustment of former drug addicts.

Abstract

Being in a new environment for some people is a stimulus that will later lead to new problems. Culture shock, in particular, happens to students from Kalimantan who study at UKSW Salatiga. The significant difference between cultural habits and geographical differences between Kalimantan and Salatiga is a challenge for overseas students from Kalimantan. So the need for a strategy to reduce the culture shock experienced by overseas students from Kalimantan is with social support from their new environment. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and culture shock in overseas students from Kalimantan in Salatiga. The method used is quantitative with a correlational design. The subjects taken were 50 students from Kalimantan who studied at UKSW Salatiga. The sampling technique used in this study was non probability. Research measurements used The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and the culture shock scale compiled by Purba (2017). The research data analysis method uses Karl Pearson's product moment correlation. The results of the study through the correlation test showed a correlation coefficient of -0.727 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05) which means that there is a significant negative relationship between Social Support and Culture Shock, so this study's hypothesis is accepted. These results mean that the higher the Social Support, the lower the Culture Shock, and vice versa, the lower the Social Support, the higher the Culture Shock.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought mothers to experience additional roles and responsibilities when their children should study from home. This kind of situation causes stress that cannot be controlled and it continues to increase, so it needs internal support (self) and external support (environment) to minimize the level of maternal stress experienced. Following up on this, this study aims to determine the relationship between optimism and husband's social support with the maternal stress level for mothers, and the differences in maternal stress level among housewives and multiple-role mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research used multiple and comparative correlational quantitative. 102 people which consist of 51 housewives and 51 multiple-role mothers participated in this research using the snowball sampling technique. The measurement scale consists of an optimism scale, a husband's social support scale, and a stress scale. The result proved that simultaneous optimism and husband's social support related to the stress that happened to the mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as specifically each independent variable related to the stress that happened in mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Comparatively, the result proved that there was no stress difference between housewives and multiple-role mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the problem of maternal stress during the COVID-19 pandemic could be handled well since the housewives and multiple-role mothers were able to create moderative optimism and their husbands put high support on them.
