Abstract

The simulation of religious practices within the metaverse represents a new phenomenon in the discourse of religion and technological adaptation in the era of new media. Through the use of virtual reality technology, spiritual experiences can be presented in immersive forms within digital spaces. However, this phenomenon remains underexplored in existing academic studies. This research aims to address that gap by analyzing the discourse surrounding the simulation of religious practices in the metaverse through a contextual interpretation of Muslim perspectives. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The findings indicate that the simulation of worship in the metaverse is generally accepted by Muslims as a form of technological adaptation, functioning as a tool for education and the dissemination of religious knowledge, as long as it does not compromise the theological meaning or orientation of religious practices. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to building a reflective framework for understanding the interplay between religion and technological adaptation in the new media age.

Abstract

This study aims to explain and analyze studies that discuss women's issues in political power in Southeast Asia, based on Scopus database publication documents in the last two decades 2004-2024. In addition to using bibliometric-based analysis methods, this study also uses VOSviewers application-based software in explaining and analyzing trends, patterns, and developments of studies that have been conducted based on Scopus database publication documents in the last two decades 2004-2024. The findings in this study show that the trends, patterns, and development of studies that discuss women's issues in political power have not been conducted comprehensively. The results of this exploration and evaluation are the basis for this study to recommend the importance of future studies that focus on analyzing the adaptation and transformation of the contemporary political system in adopting the welfare of vulnerable groups. Thus, knowledge about the conception and praxis of a political system that accommodates vulnerable groups can be comprehensively explored and evaluated, so that women's problems in contemporary political issues can be addressed effectively and efficiently based on the findings of future studies.

Abstract

Intercultural communication disseminated on Instagram extends beyond visual content, encompassing culturally rich symbols that convey deep meanings. Despite its significance, this phenomenon has received limited scholarly attention. This study addresses this gap by examining intercultural communication practices on Instagram, focusing on language, culinary traditions, and performing arts content. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, the research explores how cultural elements are shared and represented through social media. The findings identify three primary contexts: (1) the use of native languages to introduce linguistic and cultural diversity; (2) the dissemination of traditional culinary content to reinforce cultural identity; and (3) the learning and sharing of traditional dance via Instagram as a strategy for preserving cultural heritage. These insights highlight Instagram’s role as an active, dynamic, and educational space for intercultural communication.

Abstract

The normalization of forced marriage as a response to adolescents' involvement in behaviors perceived by their communities as socially or religiously inappropriate, such as premarital interactions or relationships beyond culturally sanctioned norms, may result in complex and disproportionate consequences for the adolescents involved. This study addresses gaps in prior research by exploring the characteristics of these cases, the prevailing community interpretations, and the rationale behind legitimizing forced marriage as a form of moral resolution. The findings highlight three key insights. First, forced marriage is often constructed as a culturally informed response to situations involving behaviors considered socially sensitive. Second, People commonly understand such practices as preserving family honor and fulfilling communal or religious expectations. Third, these responses are typically driven more by shared moral and cultural frameworks than by considerations of the adolescent's rights and well-being. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic family law by illustrating how community-based interpretations of morality, honor, and religious obligation may shape the application of legal and ethical principles in cases involving adolescents, particularly within the framework of protection and justice for minors.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of death myths through eschatological concepts within the religious beliefs of the Abangan Javanese community, a subcultural group with a syncretic religious orientation rooted in Kejawen traditions. The primary issue addressed is the scarcity of scholarly attention to how localized eschatological narratives shape alternative interpretations of death, which are often overlooked by dominant religious paradigms. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, this research is grounded in theoretical frameworks of eschatology and religiosity to analyze how the abangan community constructs meaning around death. The findings reveal that death is not solely understood as a personal or moral endpoint but is perceived as the result of broader socio-religious dynamics, environmental conditions, and interactions with unseen entities. These interpretations reflect a unique epistemology that challenges normative theological discourses and affirms the validity of local spiritual worldviews. This study contributes to eschatological scholarship by highlighting the interpretive richness of indigenous belief systems and addressing the ongoing marginalization of religious knowledge within broader academic and theological discussions.

Abstract

The dissemination of female figures on Instagram not only represents a reality, but is also a reconstruction over reality. The study explains the forms and factors that influenced the emergence of female figure reconstruction in #metoo on Instagram. The study uses the netnography method. The data was taken from a woman's post in #metoo on Instagram. The findings in this study show that the reconstruction of the female figure in #metoo on Instagram emphasizes two forms, namely the reconstitution of the attitude of women from passive to active, and the reconstruction of female identity from inferior to superior. Such reconstruction is predominantly influenced by structural and cultural factors that are not uncommonly discriminatory and intimidating against women. The study also recommends the importance of a study that explains the conception of subjects against female figure reconstruction in #metoo by interviewing a group of women who are actively using Instagram to gain a more comprehensive and empirical understanding.

Abstract

Narratives of Muslim experiences have simultaneously influenced the knowledge and meaningon the umrah pilgrimage to become increasingly complex and contextual. The narrative of the experiences of Muslim worship on the umrah pilgrimage has not been given much scientific attention in previous studies. This study focuses on the question “What is the narrative of the experience of Muslim worship on the umrah pilgrimage?” To answer this question, this study uses a qualitative descriptive approach in exploring the knowledge, meaning, and experiences of Muslim worship on the umrah pilgrimage which is disseminated online news. The process of collecting and reading the news is focused on news headlines that contain stories and events experienced by Muslims while performing the Umrah pilgrimage. Findings in this study show that the narratives of Muslim worship experience when carrying out the umrah pilgrimage are not least influenced by spiritual and cultural values that are evaluative and reflective in nature. Based on these findings it is possible to formulate a concept of Narrative of religion as a novelty in this study. This study also recommends the importance of comparing the experiences of Muslim in carrying out the umrah and Hajj pilgrimages, in order to comprehensive and more empirical understanding.
