Abstract

Kemampuan penalaran siswa di Indonesia masih tergolong rendah, berdasarkan laporan hasil study TIMSS (Trends International Mathematics and Science Study) pada tahun 2007 yang dilakukan di 59 negara termasuk Indonesia, menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan penalaran siswa di Indonesia mendapat skor 405 dari 500 skor rata-rata TIMSS. Untuk itu maka diperlukan penerapan model Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR) terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas X-A MAS Al-Washliyah Gedung Johor Medan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan bentuk one group pretest-posttest design, yang dilakukan di sekolah MAS Al-Washliyah Gedung Johor Medan. Dengan sampel yaitu kelas X-A MAS Al-Washliyah Gedung Johor Medan, dengan anggota sampel yaitu 32 siswa dengan menggunakan tes tertulis. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas dan uji-t (Paired Sampel T-Test) dengan bantuan SPSS 22. Hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan terdapat pengaruh penerapan model Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik (PMR) terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas X MAS Al-Washliyah Gedung Johor Medan. Abstract

Mathematics and culture can be combined to make learning more innovative, enjoyable and at the same time getting to know the culture around you better. Ethnomathematics is a forum that bridges mathematics with the surrounding cultural context. This research aims to describe the results of the exploration of the concept of ethnomathematics at the Karo Heritage Museum, especially regarding spatial and flat shapes found in historical objects at the Karo Heritage Museum so that it can be used as a learning resource for students. The type of research used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection methods include observation and documentation. The results of the research show that there is an ethnomathematics exploration of historical objects in the Pusaka Karo museum, especially mathematical concepts which can be used as a contextual learning resource in schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the difference in improving critical thinking and mathematical problem-solving abilities among students receiving cooperative learning with the TPS Square and TPS Share methods. The experimental method utilized a pretest-posttest control group design involving two groups of students from a secondary school. One group received instruction using the TPS Square method, while the other group utilized the TPS Share method. Research instruments comprised tests on critical thinking and mathematical problem-solving abilities. Data collected were analyzed using non-parametric statistical techniques. The results of the analysis revealed a significant improvement from the pretest to the posttest, as reflected in higher test scores in the final stage. Based on the t-test calculations, the critical value (t-table) at a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05) was found to be 2.514. With the computed t-value exceeding the critical value (2.157 > 2.514), it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the average critical thinking and mathematical problem-solving abilities before and after instruction using the cooperative learning models TPS and TPSq among the students of grade XII at SMA Al Washliyah 1 Medan during the academic year 2022-2023.

Abstract

In essence, mathematics originates from the skills involved in various activities within a cultural environment that grows and evolves in society. Therefore, mathematics is influenced by the cultural background of its surroundings. Ethnomathematics is a dynamic representation that can depict the influence of culture on the application of mathematics. Through ethnomathematics, researchers will examine and analyze kerawang gayo as a cultural study of the Gayo Lues highland community in Aceh, relating it to mathematics. This research aims to analyze the mathematical aspects of the kerawang gayo motifs, which are often used in traditional attire, including clothing, scarves, and hats that feature kerawang gayo designs. Based on the identification results, three of the six aspects of ethnomathematics were found, namely aspects of calculation, measurement, and explanation. Additionally, the relationship between ethnomathematics and the kerawang gayo motifs was found to be a potential source for learning mathematics, particularly in the topics of solid geometry, area, and perimeter of plane figures.

Abstract

Agriculture is a culture that is very close and attached to Indonesian society. Along with the times, the current cultural situation tends to be unknown to the younger generation. Ethnomathematics exists to bridge between culture and education. This community service aims to describe the ethnomathematical study of tree planting within the scope of reforestation and tree seedlings. This service uses training methods combined with literature studies that use the study of knowledge, ideas and findings contained in the literature so as to provide theoretical and scientific information related to implementation in learning which will later be collaborated with literacy and numeracy-based learning that can make a real contribution to social, economic growth and well-being for individuals and society. By having the skills to be able to apply the understanding of literacy and numeracy in the context of economics, engineering, science, social, and other fields, employment competitiveness and economic welfare will increase.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh antara model pembelajaran Realistic Mathematic Education dengan model pembelajaran konvensional terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis dengan materi sistem persamaan linear dua variabel (SPLDV). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan hipotesis data pretest dan postest, maka dapat diperoleh nilai rata–rata postest kelas eksperimen sebesar 82,26 rata–rata postest kelas kontrol sebesar 58,33 Sehingga terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran Realistic Mathematic Education terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa berbantuan WordWall. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil perhitungan uji t diperoleh t hitung > t tabel yaitu (0,000 > 0,05). Artinya ada perbedaan rata–rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran Realistic Mathematic Education. Uji normalitas pretest diketahui bahwa nilai sig. 0,324 > 0,05. Sedangkan uji homogenitas pretest terdapat nilai sig. 0,021 > 0,05. Hasil pengujian analisis data berupa pengujian hipotesis data pretest, menunjukkan bahwa kedua kelas sampel memiliki kemampuan awal yang sama tentang kemampuan komunikasi matematis.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' mathematical communication and problem-solving skills through the implementation of cooperative learning models, namely Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and Think Pair Share (TPS). Data were collected through mathematical communication skill tests, mathematical problem-solving tests, observations, and interviews. The results indicate a significant improvement in students' mathematical communication and problem-solving skills using TGT and TPS models compared to conventional teaching methods. The TGT group showed an average increase in pretest and posttest scores of 19.8 points in communication skills and 21.9 points in problem-solving skills. The TPS group showed an average increase of 18.9 points in communication and 19.9 points in problem-solving. Meanwhile, the control group showed an average increase of only 8.2 points in communication and 9.4 points in problem-solving. The study recommends the broader application of cooperative learning models and teacher training to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to find out whether there is an influence of the Discovery learning model assisted by the Photomath application on the Self Efficacy of Mathematics for students in class X MA. The research was conducted at MAS Al-Washliyah Johor Gedung Medan, carried out in class X in the even semester of the 2023/2024 school year using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study is class X which totals 76 students. The sample in this study was taken by Simple Random Sampling. Where class X-A with a total of 38 students is an experimental class and class X-B with a total of 38 students is a control class. Data collection techniques use questionnaires (before and after). Data analysis techniques are normality test, homogeneity test and Independent Sample t-Test. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Discovery learning model assisted by the Photomath application on the Mathematical Self Efficacy of class p<0.05 then is accepted and  is rejected. And based on the calculation results with df = 76 – 2 and a significance level of 0.025, it is found that ±  is 1.995 and  is 6.313. Because  >, which is 6.313 > 1.995, then  is accepted and  is rejected. This can also be seen and proven from the average Self Efficacy questionnaire results of students who used the Discovery learning model assisted by the Photomath application, namely 77,08 (before) and 90,08 (after) while students who used Scientific learning assisted by the Photomath application were 78,39 (before) and 79,63 (after) students who used the Photomath-assisted Discovery learning model had a higher average score of the questionnaire data after treatment than students who used Photomath-assisted Scientific learning.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertema “Trik Cepat Menghasilkan Akar dalam Pembelajaran Matematika” telah dilaksanakan di SMKS Telkom 1 Medan sebagai wujud implementasi Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 30 siswa dengan tingkat partisipasi 100%, menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dalam mempelajari metode penyelesaian soal akar matematika. Metode pembelajaran yang digunakan bersifat interaktif, mencakup penjelasan teoritis, demonstrasi, latihan terbimbing, dan diskusi kelompok. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman siswa, dengan rata-rata nilai pre-test sebesar 65,5 meningkat menjadi 85,3 pada post-test (peningkatan 30,2%). Selain itu, 90% siswa menyatakan materi mudah dipahami, 85% merasa lebih percaya diri, dan 88% tertarik mempelajari trik matematika lainnya. Kendala yang muncul, seperti perbedaan kemampuan dasar dan keterbatasan waktu, diatasi melalui kelompok belajar heterogen dan penyediaan materi tambahan. Program ini memberikan dampak positif bagi siswa, guru, dan sekolah secara menyeluruh. Untuk keberlanjutan, disiapkan modul mandiri, grup diskusi online, serta monitoring berkala.

Abstract

Kecemasan matematika merupakan fenomena psikologis yang umum dialami siswa dan dapat menghambat prestasi akademik serta perkembangan kemampuan kognitif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kecerdasan emosional dalam mengatasi kecemasan matematika pada siswa melalui kajian literatur sistematis. Menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi literatur, penelitian ini mengkaji sepuluh artikel jurnal yang diterbitkan pada periode 2015-2025 dan terindeks Scopus atau SINTA untuk menganalisis hubungan antara tingkat kecerdasan emosional dengan kemampuan siswa mengelola kecemasan matematika. Hasil kajian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan kemampuan mengatasi kecemasan matematika. Siswa dengan kecerdasan emosional tinggi memiliki kemampuan yang lebih baik dalam mengelola kecemasan matematika dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki kecerdasan emosional rendah.
