Abstract

Marriage postponement (waithood) among educated Muslim women in Indonesia has increasingly challenged conventional understandings of marital readiness rooted in biological maturity and domestic competence. This study aims to examine how Muslim undergraduate women in Jember reconstruct the concept of Istiṭā’ah al-nikāḥ within the socio-religious pressures of Pandalungan culture and pesantren traditions. Existing studies largely interpret Istiṭā’ah through material and legal dimensions, while limited attention has been given to women’s reflective experiences in redefining marital readiness through intellectual and psychological capacities. This research employed a qualitative phenomenological approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation involving ten Muslim female undergraduate students aged 20–25 in Jember, and analysed using a contemporary Maqāṣid al-sharī’ah framework. The findings revealed a process of deconstruction toward traditional standards of marriage based on chronological age and domestic readiness, followed by the reconstruction of Istiṭā’ah as holistic preparedness grounded in intellectual sovereignty, emotional maturity, and reflective responsibility. Waithood was interpreted as an ethical and preventive strategy (sadd al-dharī’ah) to safeguard the intellect (ḥifẓ al-‘aql) and self (ḥifẓ al-nafs) before entering the mīthāqan ghalīẓā. This study demonstrates that modernity within the Pandalungan-pesantren context generates a reflective negotiation between religious commitment, women’s autonomy, and substantive marital readiness.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the digital promotional capacity of Cafe Sawah Glagahwero's culinary tourism through mentoring and implementing branding strategies. Cafe Sawah is a village asset managed by a Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) with significant potential to support nature-based tourism but is hampered by limited digital literacy and suboptimal promotional strategies. The Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method was used, encompassing observation, branding strategy design, digital content creation assistance, promotional implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. The mentoring results demonstrate improved management skills in photography, videography, content editing, and social media management. The branding implementation resulted in a consistent visual identity, an increase in the number of Instagram followers from 0 to 360 with a 7.8% engagement rate, and an increase in customer visits. These findings confirm that the synergy between human resource capacity building and digital promotional efforts can strengthen brand image, increase competitiveness, and provide sustainable economic benefits for the village community. This program is expected to become a model for developing other village assets utilizing digital technology and branding strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the judge as a mediator in the resolution of divorce cases in Indonesian Religious Courts, focusing on the effectiveness and challenges faced in the mediation process. Using a qualitative approach, the study collects data through in-depth interviews with judges, mediators, and parties involved in divorce cases, as well as an analysis of relevant legal documents. The findings show that judges play a central role in the mediation process, both as neutral facilitators and as active mediators who can influence the final decision. However, the success of mediation largely depends on the mediator's skills, understanding of the existing laws, and the willingness of the parties to cooperate in the mediation process. Additionally, there are challenges related to the limited training of judges in mediation skills and the lack of clarity in some legal aspects governing mediation in Religious Courts. The study concludes that to improve the effectiveness of mediation in divorce cases, it is necessary to enhance judges' capacities through specialized training and to refine regulations that support better mediation practices. The academic contribution of this research is to provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the judge’s role as a mediator in family law contexts and to suggest policies that could enhance mediation practices in Indonesian Religious Courts for more peaceful and fair resolutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of halal certification assistance for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Randuagung Village, Sumber Jambe District, Jember Regency. The background of this research is the importance of halal certification as a guarantee of product compliance with Islamic law and as an effort to enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs in both local and global markets. A qualitative method with a field study approach was applied through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that most MSME actors initially lacked knowledge about the benefits, procedures, and requirements of halal certification. Through socialization and mentoring activities, five out of nine MSMEs expressed their willingness to apply for halal certification and successfully completed the administrative requirements, including the issuance of a Business Identification Number (NIB). Beyond administrative aspects, the mentoring program also increased the awareness of MSMEs regarding the importance of maintaining standards of hygiene, halal integrity, and food safety. This program not only adds value to MSME products but also supports government initiatives in developing the halal industry and contributes to empowering rural communities’ economy. For sustainability, further technical guidance is needed to ensure that all MSMEs are able to complete the halal certification process independently.

AbstrakPenelitian ini menganalisis praktik pernikahan dalam masa Iddah di Desa Wonosuko yangdipengaruhi oleh beberapa hal, seperti tradisi lokal, tekanan sosial, dan faktor ekonomi. Tujuanpenelitian adalah mengidentifikasi kesenjangan antara hukum Islam dengan praktik di lapangantentang iddah, serta mengungkap faktor-faktor penyebab penyimpangan. Penelitian ini menggunakanpendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologis melalui wawancara, observasi, dan kajiandokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik Iddah sering diabaikan akibat pemahamanyang terbatas, tekanan ekonomi, dan pengaruh tradisi. oleh karenanya, diperlukan pendekatanedukasi hukum Islam yang kontekstual dan dukungan sosial-ekonomi untuk memastikan penerapansyariah yang sejalan dengan konteks lokal.Kata kunci : Pernikahan, Masa Iddah, Hukum Islam AbstractThis study analyzes the practice of marriage during the Iddah period in Wonosuko Village, influenced by variousfactors such as local traditions, social pressures, and economic conditions. Abstract

Sengketa waris merupakan salah satu persoalan hukum yang paling sering menimbulkan konflik dalam keluarga. Perselisihan biasanya disebabkan oleh ketidaktahuan ahli waris mengenai ketentuan hukum kewarisan, baik dalam hukum Islam maupun hukum positif Indonesia. Penyuluhan hukum waris menjadi instrumen preventif yang bertujuan memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat sehingga dapat meminimalisasi potensi perselisihan. Jurnal ini mengkaji urgensi penyuluhan hukum waris, dengan metode pendekatan normative-empiris yang diperkuat melalui analisis kasus, serta dampaknya dalam menjaga keharmonisan keluarga

Abstract

The phenomenon of marriage dispensation following national legal reform has shown a significant increase and raised controversy over the effectiveness of child protection within the framework of Islamic family law. Although Law No. 16 of 2019 established the minimum legal age for marriage as a preventive measure against child marriage, the enforcement of dispensations through Article 7(2) paradoxically creates a legal loophole that contradicts the law’s protective intent. This study focuses on a normative critique of marriage dispensation from the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, examining to what extent contemporary Islamic family law remains responsive to the principles of ḥifẓ al-nafs (protection of life) and ḥifẓ al-nasl (protection of lineage). The research adopts a qualitative approach based on library research, with data collected from classical and contemporary legal texts, including works on maqāṣid, Islamic jurisprudence, and national legal documents. Content analysis was employed to reduce and categorize the data thematically. The findings reveal that dispensations granted without grounding in substantive maṣlaḥah contradict the foundational principles of maqāṣid and tend to reproduce structural inequalities, particularly against young girls. The study concludes that maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah must be repositioned as an epistemic framework for reformulating Islamic family law to enhance its commitment to justice and child protection. This research underscores the need for ethical and contextual legal reconstruction to avoid legalistic bias that harms vulnerable groups.

Abstract

Studi ini menganalisis rendahnya kesiapan berwirausaha di kalangan siswa pendidikan vokasi, yang tetap terjadi meskipun kebutuhan nasional terhadap wirausaha muda meningkat. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi dampak model pendampingan kewirausahaan terpadu berbasis komunitas, yang meliputi seminar, workshop, coaching, dan praktik langsung, terhadap pengembangan kompetensi produktif dan kemandirian wirausaha. Hasil intervensi menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menghitung biaya produksi, menetapkan harga, merancang strategi pemasaran offline dan online, serta pemahaman konsep kewirausahaan secara praktis. Selain itu, terjadi pergeseran sikap positif terhadap kewirausahaan sebagai jalur karier yang layak dan dapat direncanakan sejak dini. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa model mentoring yang responsif terhadap konteks pembelajaran vokasi dapat menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori dan praktik, serta berpotensi direplikasi untuk memperkuat kewirausahaan di institusi pendidikan menengah serupa.

Abstract

The community engagement programme on halal certification assistance for cassava-based crackers (lempeng) was carried out in Ledokombo Village, Sumberjambe District, Jember Regency, East Java, Indonesia, with the aim of enhancing halal literacy, improving product quality, and fostering a community-based halal ecosystem. This initiative was motivated by the limited understanding among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of halal certification procedures and the necessity of legal compliance to expand market access. A participatory approach was employed through several stages: awareness-raising sessions, raw material identification, administrative assistance, and technical guidance on packaging and branding.The findings indicate significant improvements in three key areas. First, MSMEs’ halal literacy increased through a deeper understanding of certification procedures and the principles of halal and thayyib production. Second, product quality and competitiveness improved via the adoption of hygienic production standards, the use of certified halal ingredients, and the development of more attractive and informative packaging. Third, a supportive network involving MSMEs, local government, and relevant institutions emerged, reinforcing programme sustainability and strengthening the halal ecosystem at the local level. Moreover, the programme offered experiential learning opportunities for students as change agents, enabling them to develop practical skills in community empowerment. Overall, the halal certification assistance programme in Ledokombo Village, Jember Regency not only facilitated legal compliance but also generated substantial socio-economic impacts, contributing to the national agenda of positioning Indonesia as a global hub for the halal industry.

Abstract

The increasing rate of divorce in various regions reflects a disruption in marital relationships that contributes to family vulnerability. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of marital disruption and examine the educational communication strategies employed by religious counselors to internalize sakinah family values in Sukowono District, Jember Regency. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with religious counselors, the head of the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), and couples participating in premarital guidance programs, complemented by field observations and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion verification. The findings indicate that marital disruption in Sukowono is shaped by three main factors: weak interpersonal communication between spouses, limited psychological readiness for marriage, and changing communication patterns influenced by digital technology. To address these challenges, religious counselors apply instructional communication strategies through dialogical interaction, persuasive, value-based religious communication, empathetic counseling, and adaptive communication approaches. This study proposes the concept of instructional communication resilience as a model for strengthening sakinah family development through educational communication within community-based religious institutions.
