Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading non-communicable diseases and remains a major public health concern in Indonesia, particularly in urban areas such as Palembang. The rising prevalence of hypertension is influenced by several risk factors, including age, gender, family history, unhealthy lifestyle, and environmental conditions. This disease significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality rates, thus requiring a targeted and continuous surveillance strategy. This study aims to analyze the distribution of hypertension prevalence and its risk factors based on person, place, and time variables. Secondary data were obtained from hypertension screening at Multiwahana Public Health Center in Palembang in 2024. A descriptive quantitative method with frequency analysis was applied to a sample of 411 hypertension patients. The results showed the highest prevalence among females aged over 60 years, with the highest concentration of cases found in Sialang Subdistrict, where access to healthcare services is better. The trend of cases fluctuated, peaking in March 2024. These findings provide an important epidemiological overview to support preventive and promotive health policies at the primary care level.

Abstract

Kereng Bangkirai Pier is one of the leading tourist destinations in Palangka Raya City. However, the potential of local wisdom-based tourism has not been optimally manifested, primarily due to governance issues in the management of the site. This research aims to analyze the governance of tourism potential based on local wisdom in Kereng Bangkirai pier of Palangka Raya City. This research uses a qualitative type with a case study approach. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies in Kereng Bangkirai pier Palangka Raya City. The data analyzed using narrative analysis guided by the 3A concept—Attraction, Accessibility, and Amenities—proposed by Holloway et al. (2009), to map the local-wisdom-based tourism potential. The findings indicate that the Kereng Bangkirai tourism area meets various indicators within the 3A framework. However, these potentials still require further development to enhance tourist interest. Additionally, the study applied Democratic Governance theory by Norris (2012) as an analytical framework, focusing on four indicators: participation, transparency, accountability, and responsiveness. The results reveal that governance performance in these areas remains suboptimal. The implications of this study highlight the importance of local community involvement in the planning, management, and policy-making processes related to tourism at Kereng Bangkirai Pier. This research is expected to contribute to the development of a tourism governance model that aligns with the needs and aspirations of the local community.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia ranks second globally for tuberculosis (TB) cases, with 1,060,000 cases and 134,000 deaths annually. This results in 17 deaths every hour. Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (CHLB) is crucial in preventing pulmonary TB. In Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), the risk of TB may rise if students neglect hygiene. Therefore, it is important to analyze factors influencing CHLB practices for preventing TB among students at Zaadul Ma'ad Islamic Boarding School. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the factors influencing CHLB practices to prevent pulmonary TB among students at Zaadul Ma'ad Islamic Boarding School, identifying key factors to improve hygiene practices and reduce TB transmission. Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional approach was used with 50 respondents selected via total sampling. A structured questionnaire was employed, and data were analyzed through univariate, bivariate (chi-square test at 95% significance), and multivariate analyses. Results: All respondents were male, with 86% in mid-adolescence (15-17 years). 70% had normal nutritional status, and 35% had a history of smoking. Significant factors related to CHLB practices included knowledge, attitudes, facility and resource availability, and support from stakeholders. Attitudes (OR=11.374) and school regulations (OR=9.409) were the most influential factors. Conclusion: Islamic boarding schools should implement regulations mandating personal hygiene and provide guidelines for cleanliness to promote better CHLB practices, preventing TB spread.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common reproductive health problems experienced by adolescent girls, significantly affecting daily activities and academic performance. Non-pharmacological approaches such as abdominal stretching offer a safe, simple, and cost-effective alternative for reducing menstrual pain. This community service activity was conducted at SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau from April 11 to 17, 2022, aiming to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in managing dysmenorrhea through abdominal stretching exercises. The program included education, demonstration, independent practice, and pre- and post-test evaluations. The results showed that most participants experienced a reduction in menstrual pain intensity and improved understanding of dysmenorrhea management. The intervention proved to be effective and feasible to be integrated into regular school health programs. Additionally, the activity empowered adolescents to take a more active role in maintaining their reproductive health. Further research is recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of abdominal stretching on a broader scale.

Abstract

This study applies data visualization and machine learning techniques to explore patterns across three distinct domains: corporate financial reports, food nutritional content (amino acids), and vote distribution in regional elections. Using Python and libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, and seaborn, this study utilizes the KMeans algorithm, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and linear regression. The results are evaluated using the Silhouette Score to assess cluster quality. This study demonstrates that an exploratory approach with Python is effective in uncovering insights from cross-domain data and supporting data-driven decision-making.

Abstract

Handwashing with soap is essential to eliminate germs and prevent disease transmission. In 2024, Palembang City recorded 34,350 cases of diarrhoea, with the highest at Gandus Health Centre 2,729 cases. This study aims to examine the effect of health promotion using jingle media on the knowledge and practice of handwashing with soap among students of SD Negeri 147 Palembang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pre-test–post-test. The population consisted of all Year V students, with a sample of 60 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets. The study revealed an increase in the average knowledge score from 23.33 (pre-test) to 92.50 (post-test), and in practice from 28.54 to 89.58. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.000 for both variables. The findings indicate that jingle media significantly improved knowledge (mean difference = 65.17; p = 0.000) and handwashing practice (mean difference = 61.04; p = 0.000). Schools are encouraged to continue supporting and facilitating handwashing education through engaging media, such as jingles, to enhance clean and healthy behaviour among students.

Abstract

Matra Health is a form of health service specifically designed to maintain and improve public health in dynamic, complex, and constantly changing environmental conditions. This service plays a very vital role, especially in facing and handling various types of disasters, both natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and landslides, as well as non-natural disasters such as residential fires. One form of non-natural disaster that often occurs in densely populated areas is residential fires. This is caused by various factors such as unsafe electrical installations, a lack of public awareness of the dangers of fire, and buildings that are not resistant to heat or fire. Residential fires not only cause physical damage to buildings and infrastructure, but also cause various health problems, ranging from burns, respiratory problems due to smoke exposure, to psychological trauma, especially in vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women. In response to these conditions, a dimensional health intervention activity was carried out from June 23 to 26, 2025 in areas affected by the fires under the coordination of the South Sumatra Regional Crisis Center. This activity aims to reduce health risk factors that arise after the fires through a series of actions such as multi-sector health surveillance, public health education, and distribution of logistical assistance. The activity also includes conducting rapid assessments using the Rapid Health Assessment (RHA) method, providing education on fire impact prevention, and distributing supplementary food to vulnerable groups. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in public understanding of the dangers of fire and the importance of preparedness for its impacts. Furthermore, the need to strengthen cross-sectoral coordination, such as health, disaster management, and social sectors, in disaster management was identified. It is hoped that this activity can serve as a model for strengthening community-based emergency response systems.
