Abstract

When the battery is used, it will generate heat due to chemical processes and external factors like sunlight that make the battery hot on the solar panel-based transport e-scooter. Indirectly, the battery also receives heat from the surrounding environment. Battery temperature also affects the performance, efficiency, and performance of the battery, so to maintain battery temperature, cooling is needed. This study aims to determine the variation of battery cooling temperature on the charging power of LiFePO4 batteries on e-scooters with solar panels. This research method is carried out by making a battery-cooling device as a box with active cooling using a cooling fan to cool the battery inside. After that, it makes a management and monitoring tool for the battery cooling system to regulate and measure the temperature of the ESP32-based battery. After conducting research and data processing, it can be concluded that the advantages of installing a LifePO4 battery cooling system on an e-scooter using solar panels can increase charging power. From all the data obtained, the temperature when charging at 25oC has a power that is 19% greater than the 35oC temperature on the battery

Abstract

Solar Panel-Based Electric Scooter (E-Scooter) is an electric vehicle in the form of a scooter that uses solar panels as a source of electrical energy for charging batteries and a BLDC motor as a wheel drive. With the development of the E-Scooter, it is necessary to know how to charge the battery. The purpose of this research is to determine the type of Solar Charge Controller (SCC) that can maximize battery charging on the E-Scooter. The research method is to compare SCC MPPT and SCC PWM. The research was conducted by monitoring the output current and voltage of the solar charger controller generated by the solar panels every 10 minutes. After that the recorded data will be stored in the monitoring device's storage memory for further processing. The results of the data that have been obtained on the e-scooter using the SCC MPPT type are capable of producing a power of 9.05 W with a current value of 0.33 A and a voltage of 27.47 V. Meanwhile, the PWM type SCC is capable of producing 8.22 W of power with a current value of 0.30 A and a voltage of 27.42 V. So that the MPPT type SCC is more economical than PWM for charging when the e-scooter is not moving. For the running conditions of the MPPT type SCC e-scooter is capable of producing 7.36 W of power with a current value of 0.27 A and a voltage of 27.26 V. Meanwhile, the PWM type SCC is capable of producing a current of 6.81 W with a value of 0.25 A and a voltage 27.24 V. So that the MPPT type SCC is more efficient than PWM for charging when the e-scooter is running.

Abstract

Briquettes are a form of solid fuel that is produced using waste from the agricultural, industrial and household sectors. For example, briquettes can be produced from biomass waste such as rice straw and corn cobs, which are potential resources that can be utilized to produce bioenergy in the form of briquettes. This study aims to develop and test the characteristics of biomass briquettes in order to evaluate the quality of the biochar briquettes and the calorific value they produce. The method used in this study was experimental, in which the adhesive and the composition of the mixed ingredients were varied as independent variables to affect the quality of the briquettes, while the moisture content, ash content, burning rate, put birds, calorific value is used as the dependent variable. In this study, the results obtained for water content ≤ 5%, volatile matter ≤ 10%, calorific value ≤ 6.553 cal/g, and a burning rate of 0.17 gram/minute which is expected according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 01 6235 2000, namely the water content ≤ 8%, volatille matter ≤ 10%, calorific value ≤ 5,000 cal/g. The results of this study indicate that the biomass briquettes can meet the established quality standards, with appropriate moisture, ash and volatile matter content. In addition, the resulting calorific value also reaches the desired figure, indicating the potential of biomass briquettes as an efficient alternative fuel. The combustion rates found in this study also indicate that the biomass briquettes have characteristics that allow stable and effective combustion. Thus, this research succeeded in developing and testing the characteristics of biomass briquettes as an alternative fuel. The results of this study can contribute to the development of renewable energy sources and efficient use of biomass waste, as well as promote efforts to mitigate the negative impacts of the conventional energy sector on the environment.

Abstract

The Community Service (CS) project was implemented in Sumberingin Kidul Village, Ngunut District, Tulungagung Regency, East Java. The target beneficiary was UD. Arta Lumintu, a local SME engaged in beef cattle farming. The farm, established in 2017, was temporarily closed due to the Covid pandemic and resumed operation after a year. Key challenges included high temperatures (24-31°C) and humidity (74-77%), which negatively impacted cattle productivity and excessive electricity consumption for cattle shed operations. The project aimed to address these issues by installing a water spray system with a high-pressure pump and an off-grid solar power system. The system effectively reduces temperature and humidity in the sheds while minimizing electricity costs. The installation consists of a 540 Wp solar panel, a 1500 VA Smart inverter, a 100 Ah VRLA battery, and six pressurized water sprinkler points positioned in various areas of the cattle sheds, powered by a 350 W booster pump. This initiative improves farm efficiency, supports energy independence, and introduces smart farming technology to benefit local farmers.
