Abstract

This study explores Thomas Reid’s philosophy of common sense as a response to the epistemological crisis of the Enlightenment era, marked by skepticism and idealism. Through a dialectical approach, the research examines Reid’s concepts of first principles, direct realism, and moral sense, highlighting their role in restoring trust in reality and moral responsibility. The analysis employs hermeneutic and constructive-dialectical methods to critically assess Reid’s position and its limitations, particularly regarding claims of universality and cultural neutrality. The findings propose a reinterpretation of Reid’s thought into reflective realism and dialogical morality, emphasizing the need for epistemic trust combined with critical openness and ethical dialogue in pluralistic societies. This synthesis offers significant implications for contemporary philosophy of science and ethics, especially in addressing challenges of post-truth and relativism. Reid’s philosophy, when read reflectively, becomes not only a defense of rationality but also a call for intellectual honesty and moral responsibility in navigating modern complexity.

Abstract

The fashion industry generates textile waste throughout the production and consumption stages, while leftover Balinese endek weaving fabric is still frequently treated as production residue that remains underutilized. This study aims to develop a sustainable modular fashion design model based on leftover Balinese endek fabric by integrating the principles of less waste design, subtraction pattern, draping, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), and regenerative design. The research employed a qualitative approach using a Research Through Design strategy, involving participant observation of the design process, visual documentation, in-depth interviews with designers and artisans, analysis of pattern and prototype documentation, as well as thematic and design analysis. The findings reveal that leftover endek fabric can be classified according to size, motif, texture, grain direction, and joining potential to form structural panels, visual elements, and transitional modules. Subtraction pattern and draping enable irregular fabric remnants to be negotiated with the body, while the modular system expands possibilities for configuration, functionality, and product life cycles. These findings demonstrate that leftover endek fabric should not be viewed merely as textile waste but as a cultural material that embodies ecological, technical, and symbolic values. This article contributes to the sustainable fashion discourse by proposing the concept of tradition subtraction as a design approach that connects material efficiency, the regeneration of local textile values, and the development of a tradition-based circular economy.

Abstract

This study analyzes the narrative structure of the SORE: Wife from the Future with a focus on the time loop pattern and its integration with time travel elements. The main objective of this study is to examine how the temporal configuration in this film works and to identify possible extensions to the time loop typology formulated by Brütsch. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with narrative and interpretive analysis methods of the scenes, dialogues, and time repetition structure in the film. The results show that SORE: Wife from the Future does not fully fit into the four existing variants of the time loop typology, but rather combines the characteristics of several variants simultaneously. This film introduces a hybrid form that combines an external mission (preventing death) and internal transformation (inner healing), as well as uniting time travel and time loops in a cohesive structure. These findings encourage the formulation of a fifth variant in the time loop typology and demonstrate the relevance of the hypertime approach in explaining the logic of transitions between timelines. Keywords: time loop, time travel, temporal structure, SORE: Wife from the Future film

Abstract

This article discusses a critical analysis of Friedrich Nietzsche's thought by highlighting the main issues related to the foundations of nihilism and the relevance of two of his central ideas, namely the will to power and the Übermensch, as an effort to overcome the collapse of traditional values. The research uses a qualitative approach with a subjectivism-humanities paradigm through a literature study of Nietzsche's works, especially Thus Spoke Zarathustra and The Will to Power, as well as secondary studies from philosophers and historians of thought. The analytical method is carried out through textual hermeneutics to interpret Nietzsche's aphorisms that are unsystematic but full of philosophical meaning. The results of the study show that Nietzsche's nihilism is not merely a rejection of values, but a diagnosis of the crisis of modern culture that has lost its foundation of meaning; in this context, the will to power functions as a creative human drive to overcome old moral determinations, while the Übermensch becomes an ideal concept of humans who are capable of creating values autonomously. These findings confirm that Nietzsche's thought makes a significant contribution to the development of contemporary philosophy through a rereading of values, freedom, and human existence

Abstract

This study analyzes tensions between indigenous cosmology and Indonesian nationalism in the Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Bali as an expression of Hindu Balinese spatial logic responding to modern nation-building. A qualitative interpretive approach employs semi-structured interviews with architects and historians, along with systematic document analysis. Lefebvre’s spatial triad and Bhabha’s hybridity frame the analysis. Findings show the monument as a sedimented temporal space where mythological and historical narratives coexist without final synthesis. Use of the Samudramanthana epic in nationalist pedagogy produces cultural differentiation rather than a unified identity. Popular adoption of the vernacular name Bajra Sandhi reflects a form of semantic reappropriation privileging religious over nationalist identification. Construction across three gubernatorial administrations indicates ongoing hegemonic negotiation. The study concludes that postcolonial monuments operate as agonistic spaces enabling contestation of meaning while advancing understanding of spatial politics where local cosmology intersects with state projects.
