Abstract

This study aimed to describe the dietary diversity among 12-23 months old children living in an urban area. A cross-sectional survey which involved 146 mothers who had children aged 12-23 months, living in Surabaya City, East Java, was conducted. Mother's, child's, household's characteristics, and child's dietary diversity were collected by using a questionnaire. Then, the frequency distribution and percentage analysis were performed. The result showed that most children (96.6%) met the minimum dietary diversity as recommended by WHO. The food groups which mainly consumed were vitamin A-rich fruits and vegetables (100%) and grains, roots, and tubers (96.6%). In reverse, the food groups which less consumed were other fruits and vegetables, and legumes and nuts. Integrated health promotion is needed to ensure low socioeconomic status household who lived in the urban area met the appropriate infant and young child feeding practice. Abstract

Control in the nursing care management for Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) bundles of post-cardiac surgery patients is related to using predetermined standards and actions taken to correct mismatches between standards and actual performance. The purpose of this study was to apply the identification of controls in the nursing care unit to the VAP collection in the intensive care unit. Design research using quasi-experiments before and after with the control group. The population in this study was nurses invited to pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The number of samples was 32 people, divided into two groups consisting of intervention and control, taken by purposive sampling technique and General Linear Model Repeat Measure (GLM-RM) analysis method.  The results of this study were analyzed by the dependent t-test. Dependent t-test results obtained in the average VAP bundle before the intervention were 3.3462 and after the intervention were 3.8362 with an average change of 0.41707 andp-value (0,000) < (0.05).The application of controls in the nursing care management to the VAP bundle in accordance with the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) emphasizes better accountability in providing nursing care to patients who are fitted with work safety and improves the actual performance of officers. Implement the control of a part of a continuous improvement strategy in quality control of special health services in relation to pneumatic infections installed in mechanical facilities in the Intensive Care Unit. Keywords: Controlling, Nursing Care Management, VAP Bundles

Abstract

Clinical supervision of interactive reflective model is a guideline for the implementation of patient safety goals at the hospital.  This supervision supports the one who is supervised to improve self-awareness and professional development in the implementation of patient safety goals. The purpose of this research was to find out the influence of reflective interactive supervision model toward  the implementation of patient safety goals. The method used is quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest with control group design.  There were 24 subjects in interventions and 24 subjects in control  group. Data were taken using a proportional stratified random sample. The data were analyzed by using chi-square, independent sample t-test, paired sample t-test, Pearson correlation, and general linear model repeated measure was used for multivariate analysis. The result shows that there are significant differences after the implementation of interactive reflective supervision (p < 0.000). The average achievement score of the implementation of patient safety goals between groups shows a significant difference. In the intervention group, the achievement score began to show an improvement starting from the second measurement and the maximum score was seen in the fifth measurement. Clinical supervision interactive reflective model is potentially required by the head nurse as a guideline for supervising the implementation of the patient's safety goals in the hospital. Keywords: Supervision, Interactive reflective, Patient safety goal, Hospital.

Abstract

Objective: An estimated in every 4 (25%) infants and toddlers were stunted in Surabaya. With slow progress in stunting reduction in this many regions is not due to insufficient diet alone, it needs interprofessional collaboration (IPC) which will improve the performance of health workers in the management of stunting. The aimed of this study is to understand the knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, collaboration, communication about interprofessional collaboration to handle children aged < 5 years were stunted. Methods: The research used a cross-sectional study. The population in this study was 128 health workers. Samples were taken by simple random sampling. Independent variables were knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, collaboration communication. The dependent variable was interprofessional collaboration. The instrument used a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using correlation and logistic regression with a significance level of p <0.05. Results: The focus of this study is to understand the knowledge, attitude self-efficacy, collaboration communication in interprofessional collaboration as a way to handle stunting aged < 5 years; for self-efficacy p=0,027. A health worker who had good knowledge, attitude self-efficacy, collaboration communication, impacted and improve interprofessional collaboration as a prevention effort against stunting. Conclusion: From this study, we can conclude that the knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, collaboration communication improve interprofessional collaboration in handling stunting in children under five. The better knowledge, attitude and belief about interprofessional collaboration, the better the implementation of interprofessional collaboration. Keywords: Factor personal, Interprofessional collaboration, Stunting, Children.

Abstract

Objective: Human immunodeficiency virus / acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is still a stigma in the community and becomes a barriers in dealing with HIV. This study aimed to identify the determinants of stigma attitude among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design. Sample collection was carried out by simple random sampling involving 135 Housewife suffered by HIV in Surabaya. The independent variables were policy support, patient characteristics (including age, sex, education level, marital status, occupation, HIV status, first being diagnosed with HIV), family factors (including family burden and family resilience). The dependent variables were stigma. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The analysis used binary logistic regression with a significance level of p ≤0.05. Results: The results showed there are five factors related to stigma in PLWHA, namely policy support (p = 0.019), marital status (p = 0.039), first being diagnosed with HIV (p = 0.006), family burden (p = 0.000) and family resilience (p = 0.041). Out of five variables, only four had a significant effect on stigma, namely marital status (OR = 0.009; 95% CI 0.000 – 0.697), first being diagnosed with HIV (OR = 7,464; 95% CI 1,820 - 30,617), family burden (OR = 0.075; 95% CI 0,017 - 0.329), and family resilience (OR = 0.010; 95% CI 0.000 - 0.381).Conclusion: The determinants of stigma attitude among PLWHA include policy support, marital status, first being diagnosed with HIV, family burdens and family endurance. Introduction: Poor motivation and limited health services-oriented are reducing job satisfaction, which may affect the quality of nurse performance. The aim of this study to analyze the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on job satisfaction and nurse performance at the hospital. Methods: The study was explanatory research with a quantitative approach. The sample was 295 respondents from maternal and child hospital nurses. The sampling method is proportional random sampling area, the number of samples determined using the Slovin’s formula. The analysis technique used the Structural Equation Model with PLS Warp analysis tools. Results: Predisposing factor (intrinsic and extrinsic motivation) significantly the nursing job satisfaction. The relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation with job satisfaction and nursing performance was significant. Conclusion: Integration of self-esteem with extrinsic motivation has a good effect on job satisfaction which in increased nursing performance. However, it was important for hospital management to motivate their nurse through intrinsic and extrinsic motivation continuously. Keywords: Intrinsic motivation, Extrinsic motivation, Job satisfaction, Nurse performance.
