Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of school principal leadership, work motivation and compensation on performance. The quality of educational output cannot be separated from the relationship between supporting factors, seen from the average achievement of the Vocational School Teacher Competency Test (UKG) results in the Bina 1 Region of Lebak Regency which is still below the 2015 UKG Minimum Achievement Criteria (KCM) of 5.5 or in the range figure 5.2. The method used in this research is a survey with correlational techniques. The target population in this research is all State Vocational School teachers in the bina 1 area of Lebak Regency, totaling 265 people. Considering that the number of members of the target population is not too large, the reachable population in this case is the same as the target population. The number of samples used in this research was 82 teachers taken randomly. Partially or jointly, there is a significant influence on the independent variables of principal leadership (X1), work motivation (X2) and compensation (X3) on the dependent variable on the performance of State Vocational School teachers in Lebak Regency (Y).

Abstract

This study investigates how digital supervision improves teacher performance in Indonesian secondary schools. Eight SMA Labschool Universitas Syiah Kuala participants, including principals, supervisors, and teachers were interviewed using a qualitative method. NVivo 12 was used to analyze word frequencies, themes, and relationships. Findings reveal that digital supervision enhances teacher performance by improving technological and pedagogical competence, fostering creativity, and increasing administrative efficiency—tools like Google Classroom and Zoom support real-time feedback and collaboration. However, limited infrastructure, weak Internet connectivity, and digital skill gaps persist. The study concludes that digital supervision significantly improves teaching quality when backed by sufficient training and facilities. It recommends targeted digital training and improved infrastructure to optimize implementation.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role and spiritual leadership strategy of school principals in fostering the character of caring for the environment of elementary school students. Based on the theory of Spiritual Leadership Fry (vision, hope/faith, altruistic love), this study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method at SDN Ekologi Kahuripan Padjajaran, Purwakarta. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, and supervisors; participatory observation of learning activities and environmental programs; as well as documentation studies on school policies, programs, and archives. Data analysis is carried out through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawn, with triangulation of sources, methods, and time to ensure validity. The results of the study show that the spiritual leadership of school principals plays a central role through three main functions: as a role model that displays examples of ecological behavior; as a decision maker who formulates ecological vision, waste sorting policies, cleanliness pickets, and the integration of environmental themes in the curriculum; as well as as a facilitator who provides environmentally friendly facilities such as waste banks, classroom gardens, compost areas, and recycling corners. The strategies used include the integration of environmental education in intracurricular, strengthening extracurricular and co-curricular activities based on experience, and developing a green school culture based on spiritual values. The findings show an improvement in students' ecological behaviors, including the habits of maintaining cleanliness, caring for plants, saving energy, and actively participating in environmental programs. This research confirms that spiritual leadership is an effective transformative approach to integrating spiritual values and environmental education in a sustainable manner in primary schools.

Abstract

Education demands continuous teaching and self-renewal to maintain instructional relevance amid evolving demands. This qualitative study examines the instructional supervision strategies employed by the principal at SD Pelita Fajar Elementary School to enhance teachers' capacity for self-renewal. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed via NVivo 14 following Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña's interactive model. Findings indicate that the principal implements collaborative, evidence-based strategies across planning, implementation, follow-up, and evaluation phases, anchored in instructional leadership. These foster a structured self-renewal cycle—exploration (diverse knowledge sourcing), exploitation (innovative media creation), absorption (skill internalization), and integration (collaborative embedding)—while addressing barriers like time constraints and low motivation through targeted solutions. The approach significantly enhances teachers' adaptability, problem-solving skills, and professional growth, underscoring the crucial role of supervision in sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs for integrating Bandung local cultural values into reading and writing instruction for second-grade elementary school students as an initial step in developing an ethnopedagogy-based module. The research background stems from the low basic literacy skills found among second-grade elementary students in Cibogo, Lembang. Out of a total of 23 students, 3 students were unable to read, while several students still experienced difficulties in reading fluency, writing simple sentences, and using capital letters and punctuation marks. This condition is exacerbated by instruction that remains dominated by lecture methods and the use of teaching modules that are not contextual to local life and culture. This study employs a qualitative approach with a needs analysis method through interview and observation techniques involving teachers and second-grade elementary students as research subjects. The analysis focuses on identifying elements of Bandung local culture, including community social life, natural environmental conditions, natural products, regional arts, and traditions that are still alive in the Elementary School Bandung community and surrounding areas. Preliminary findings indicate that teachers have not yet developed teaching modules that connect Indonesian language material with students' local cultural context. In fact, the integration of ethnopedagogical values is considered to have the potential to strengthen basic literacy skills through meaningful, contextual learning rooted in students' cultural experiences. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to serve as a foundation for developing ethnopedagogy-based learning modules that integrate Bandung local culture to improve the reading and writing skills of second-grade elementary students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical connection ability of fifth-grade elementary school students in understanding fraction concepts. Mathematical connection ability is one of the essential aspects that should be developed from the elementary education level, as it enables students to recognize relationships among mathematical concepts and apply them meaningfully in real-life situations. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through a mathematical connection ability test, observations, and interviews. The test instrument was developed based on three main indicators of mathematical connection ability proposed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), namely: (1) the ability to connect mathematical concepts, (2) the ability to connect multiple mathematical representations, and (3) the ability to connect mathematical concepts to real-life situations. The research subjects consisted of 30 fifth-grade students from a public elementary school in Garut Regency. The results indicate that the indicator of connecting mathematical concepts achieved the highest percentage at 68.7% (moderate category), followed by the indicator of connecting representations at 65.4% (moderate category), while the indicator of connecting mathematics to everyday life reached only 42.1% (low category). These findings suggest that students are generally able to identify relationships among mathematical concepts but still experience difficulties in applying these concepts to real-life contexts. Therefore, more in-depth instructional reinforcement is required to help students develop a more meaningful and applicable understanding of the mathematical concepts they learn.
