Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility and readability of a biology teaching module with the theme of Biodiversity in the Intertidal Zone for Phase E (class X SMA/MA) which is contextually based and aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum. The background of this research is based on the lack of biology teaching materials that raise local environmental issues and are in accordance with the level of understanding of students. This research is a development research (R&D) using the 4-D model (define, design, develop, disseminate) with three main types of instruments: (1) content and construction validation sheet by experts, (2) readability questionnaire by students, and (3) material presentation and language comprehension questionnaire by biology teachers. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively using the Aiken V formula and the calculation of the average readability score. The validation results showed that the module had very high validity in 10 out of 11 indicators, with only one indicator in the high validity category, namely the visualization aspect. The average readability score of students was in the good category, especially on the indicators of content understanding and illustration assistance. Meanwhile, teachers stated that the language in the module was in accordance with the level of cognitive development of students, although there were notes on the need for deepening the material to strengthen conceptual understanding. Thus, this teaching module is declared feasible and relevant for use in learning biology, but requires improvement in the aspects of content depth, term selection, and assessment diversity to support optimal readability and independent learning.

Abstract

Sediment flows in volcanic landscapes are sensitive to land uses. Settlements of land use are often found along the slopes of volcanoes in Indonesia. Many detailed studies of sediment discharge in agroforestry and dryland in volcanic slopes have been carried out. Meanwhile, the settlement's land use is not of interest to researchers. This study aims to build a model of sediment discharge in settlement areas of volcanic landscapes with a focus on (1) the relationship between sediment discharge and water flow discharge; and (2) the sediment rate and soil loss in settlement land use. The study used the key area method in watershed areas that have settlements land use. The research was carried out using field surveys to observe soil, slope morphology, and the settlement's land cover characteristics. Sediment flow was measured in the suspended sediment data and bedload sediment. Water flow data was measured in the canal water level and the rain data was measured with an automatic water level recorder and the Automatic Rain Recorder, as well as field observations of the characteristics of the flows entering the canal system. Data analysis was carried out to produce a model of sediment discharge, and the rate of soil loss. The research resulted in a suspension discharge Qs=0.4396Q1.2123 and a soil loss rate of 5.04 tons/year.AbstrakAliran sedimen bentanglahan gunungapi sensitif terhadap bentuk-bentuk penggunaan lahannya. Abstract

The vanilla plant (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) is one of a spice plants that has economic value and the global demand for vanilla continues to increase along with the development of industries that rely on vanilla raw materials. One of the factors that contributing to the vanilla low production is the limited availability of cuttings as a source of section. One effort required to increase vanilla plant production is by using good section as well as paying attention to the number of segments on vanilla plant cuttings. This research aims to determine the effect of the number of segments on the growth of vanilla plant cuttings (Vanilla planifolia Andrews). The experimental design used in this research was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of 5 treatments and 3 replications so that there were 15 treatment units, namely R1 = 1 segment, R2 = 2 segments, R3 = 3 segments, R4 = 4 segments, and R5 = 5 segments. The observational data from the treatment was processed statistically. If the results of the analysis have a real effect then a further test is carried out with BNJ at a real level of 5%. The parameters observed were shoot height (cm), number of leaves (strands), and shoot diameter (cm). The results of the research showed that the treatment of the number of cutting segments had a very significant effect on the growth parameters of shoot height, number of leaves and shoot diameter of vanilla plant seedlings with the best treatment obtained in the R4 treatment (4 segments).
