Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ difficulties in division operations and their impact on the mathematics learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SDN 19 Ampenan. This research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that students experience various difficulties in understanding the concept of division, both as the inverse of multiplication and as repeated subtraction. In addition, students face challenges in determining quotients, following the procedures of long division, and solving word problems. These difficulties are influenced by students’ weak mastery of basic arithmetic operations, particularly multiplication and subtraction. The impact of these difficulties is reflected in the low mathematics learning outcomes, as indicated by the large number of students who have not achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria. The average student score is 48, which is still below the established minimum standard of 75.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of teachers to overcome students' difficulties in learning mathematics in elementary school through a realistic mathematical approach. The method used is qualitative descriptive with the research subject of grade IV teachers. The results showed that the difficulties experienced by grade IV students in learning at MI At-tahzib were students' low thinking ability. Internal factors of students are students' readiness to learn mathematics, lack of interest in students in mathematics lessons, laziness in learning experienced by students. Factors from outside the students come from the school environment, community environment, and social students. The teacher's ability to overcome difficulties in learning mathematics. Among them is that teachers apply realistic mathematics education {PMR} in the learning process of students, provide motivation and rewards to students, then there is still a need for guidance from teachers

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar siswa pada materi pengukuran benda dengan satuan tidak baku di kelas II MI NW Taman. Permasalahan yang diangkat adalah rendahnya minat belajar siswa pada materi pengukuran dengn menggunakan satuan tidak baku. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menggunakan berbagai strategi pembelajaran seperti penggunaan media konkret, pembelajaran kelompok, serta pemberian tugas melalui LKPD. Strategi tersebut terbukti mampu meningkatkan minat belajar siswa yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya rasa senang, perhatian, keaktifan, dan kedisiplinan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Selain itu, siswa menjadi lebih mudah memahami konsep pengukuran karena pembelajaran dilakukan secara langsung dan melibatkan pengalaman nyata. Meskipun terdapat kendala seperti perbedaan kemampuan siswa dan keterbatasan media, guru mampu mengatasinya melalui kerja kelompok dan pemberian bimbingan.

Abstract

  ABSTRACT This study was motivated by the importance of mathematical connection skills in helping students understand the relationships among mathematical concepts and their application in daily life, particularly in angle material at the elementary school level. The study aimed to analyze students’ mathematical connection abilities and identify the difficulties experienced by students in relating angle concepts to other mathematical concepts and real-life contexts. This research employed a qualitative approach with an exploratory case study design involving fifth-grade students of SDN 4 Batu Layar Barat and teachers as additional informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and documentation of students’ worksheets. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, organization, classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ mathematical connection abilities were still relatively low. The difficulties experienced by students included relating angle concepts to other mathematical concepts, applying angle concepts in everyday life, and transforming angle representations into symbols, images, and verbal descriptions. These difficulties were influenced by inadequate mastery of basic concepts, limited understanding of problem instructions, and lack of contextual learning experiences. Therefore, contextual, integrated, and concrete experience-based learning strategies are needed to improve students’ mathematical connection abilities. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan koneksi matematis dalam membantu siswa memahami hubungan antar konsep matematika dan penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, khususnya pada materi sudut di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa serta mengidentifikasi kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam menghubungkan konsep sudut dengan konsep matematika lainnya maupun konteks nyata. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus eksploratoris yang melibatkan siswa kelas V SDN 4 Batu Layar Barat dan guru sebagai informan tambahan. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur, observasi langsung, dan dokumentasi lembar kerja siswa. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan pengumpulan, penyusunan, pengelompokan, penafsiran, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa meliputi kemampuan mengaitkan konsep sudut dengan konsep matematika lain, mengaplikasikan konsep sudut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, serta mentransformasikan representasi sudut dalam bentuk simbol, gambar, dan deskripsi verbal. Kesulitan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh penguasaan konsep dasar yang belum memadai, keterbatasan dalam memahami soal, dan minimnya pengalaman belajar kontekstual. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan strategi pembelajaran yang kontekstual, terintegrasi, dan berbasis pengalaman konkret untuk meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of numeracy skills in grade 1 students and the lack of use of learning media that can help students in learning mathematics, and in this study the researcher used the gap board media (addition and subtraction) in improving students' numeracy skills. Therefore, this study aims to determine the feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of the gap board media (addition and subtraction) in improving the numeracy skills of grade 1 elementary school students. This study used a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The study subjects consisted of media expert validators, material experts, and 23 first-grade students (10 girls and 13 boys). Data were collected through questionnaires, tests, interviews, and observations, then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative techniques. The results showed that the "ravine board" media received a feasibility rating of 98.6% from the media experts and 95.4% from the material experts, categorizing it as very feasible. The practicality rating was 100% from teachers and 97% from students, categorizing it as very practical. The effectiveness test results showed a significance value of 0.268, indicating a normally distributed data. A paired t-test indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores with a p-value <0.05. Furthermore, the N-Gain test result of 0.82 is considered high. Thus, the ravine board is deemed feasible, practical, and effective for use in teaching arithmetic to first-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by observations and interviews with teachers at MI NW Karang Bata, which showed that most students experienced difficulties in understanding story problems, determining solution steps, and selecting the correct arithmetic operations. Furthermore, students tended to be less active in the learning process and still required teacher guidance. Therefore, a learning model capable of actively engaging students in learning activities is needed, one of which is the Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) learning model. This study aimed to determine the effect of using the Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) learning model on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of fourth-grade students at MI NW Karang Bata in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a non-equivalent control group design. The study population was 39 fourth-grade students at MI NW Karang Bata. The sampling technique used saturated sampling, so the entire population served as the research sample. The research sample consisted of 21 students from class IV A as the experimental class and 18 students from class IV B as the control class. Data collection techniques were conducted through tests and documentation. The research instruments consisted of pre-test and post-test essay questions that had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminatory power. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, followed by normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using an independent sample t-test using the JASP application. The results showed that the Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) learning model had a significant effect on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This was evidenced by the results of the hypothesis test, which obtained a p-value of 0.001 < 0.05, thus rejecting H₀ and accepting Ha₀. Furthermore, the average score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class, at 79.29, compared to 64.44 for the control class. Thus, the AIR learning model is effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was motivated by the importance of mastering basic multiplication facts as a foundation for mathematics learning in elementary school. The study aimed to describe the learning difficulties experienced by fourth-grade students of MI NW Badrussalam in multiplication and division of hundreds numbers. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the teacher and fourth-grade students, as well as documentation of students’ multiplication memorization records. Data analysis was conducted through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the students’ main difficulty stemmed from weak mastery of basic multiplication facts. Many students had not memorized basic multiplication properly, causing difficulties in solving long multiplication and division problems involving hundreds numbers. These findings were supported by documentation data indicating that most students had not mastered the multiplication sequences from 1 to 15. Therefore, weak mastery of basic multiplication facts became the main factor affecting students’ ability to solve more complex arithmetic operations. This study is expected to serve as a reflection for teachers in designing more effective learning strategies to strengthen students’ mastery of basic multiplication facts. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk kesulitan konseptual, prosedural, dan pemecahan masalah pada materi bangun datar beserta faktor penyebabnya pada siswa kelas IV SDN 37 Ampenan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek guru kelas dan siswa kelas IV-B yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik reduksi, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami tiga jenis kesulitan utama: (1) kesulitan konseptual berupa ketidakmampuan mengidentifikasi sifat-sifat bangun datar; (2) kesulitan prosedural dalam mengaplikasikan rumus luas dan keliling pada angka yang kompleks; serta (3) kesulitan pemecahan masalah dalam menginterpretasikan soal cerita ke dalam model matematika. Faktor internal penyebab kesulitan meliputi rendahnya minat dan motivasi belajar mandiri, sementara faktor eksternal meliputi metode pengajaran yang konvensional serta minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran manipulatif. Temuan ini menyarankan perlunya integrasi media digital dan strategi tutor sebaya untuk meminimalisir hambatan belajar tersebut.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan belajar siswa kelas II pada materi penjumlahan dan pengurangan bersusun di SDN 4 Ampenan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari guru dan siswa kelas II. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menyusun angka sesuai nilai tempat, melakukan proses menyimpan pada penjumlahan, serta melakukan proses meminjam pada pengurangan. Selain itu, siswa juga mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami maksud soal. Faktor penyebab kesulitan belajar meliputi faktor internal seperti rendahnya pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar, serta faktor eksternal seperti kurangnya variasi metode pembelajaran dan minimnya dukungan keluarga. Upaya yang dilakukan guru meliputi pemberian latihan tambahan, bimbingan individual, serta pengulangan materi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan belajar siswa disebabkan oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep, kekeliruan dalam menyimpan dan meminjam, serta kurangnya kemampua dalam memahami soal.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the limitations of mathematics learning methods and their implications for students’ understanding of basic arithmetic operation concepts in grade II at SDN 3 Gerung Selatan. Mathematics learning in elementary schools requires varied methods to help students understand addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division concepts effectively. However, classroom observations showed that the learning process was still dominated by lecture methods with limited use of instructional media, causing students difficulties in understanding the material. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques consisting of observation and interviews. The data were analyzed descriptively to describe the condition of mathematics learning in the classroom. The findings revealed that the limited variation of teaching methods and learning media affected students’ understanding of basic mathematics concepts, reduced their learning interest and motivation, and created differences in learning outcomes among students. Therefore, more interactive learning methods and the use of concrete learning media are needed to improve students’ understanding of basic arithmetic operations. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis keterbatasan metode pembelajaran matematika serta implikasinya terhadap pemahaman konsep operasi hitung dasar siswa kelas II SDN 3 Gerung Selatan. Pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar memerlukan metode yang bervariasi agar siswa dapat memahami konsep penjumlahan, pengurangan, perkalian, dan pembagian secara optimal. Namun, hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran masih didominasi metode ceramah dengan penggunaan media yang terbatas sehingga siswa mengalami kesulitan memahami materi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan wawancara. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk menggambarkan kondisi pembelajaran matematika di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterbatasan variasi metode dan media pembelajaran berdampak pada rendahnya pemahaman konsep dasar matematika, menurunnya minat dan motivasi belajar siswa, serta adanya perbedaan hasil belajar antar siswa. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengembangan metode pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan penggunaan media konkret untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep operasi hitung dasar.
