Abstract

This research aimed to improve the learning process and improved the student’s mathematic achievement through the implementation of problem based learning. The research was the classroom action research with two cycles. The research was conducted in student of class VII3 SMPN 4 Pekanbaru in odd semester of the 2018/2019 academic year with the subject is 38 students. The research instruments consist of learning devices and data collector instrument. Learning devices consists of the syllabus, lesson plan and student worksheet. The data collector instrument consists of the observation sheet and mathematics test. Technique of data analysis is analysis of narrative descriptive and analysis of statistical descriptive. The result of the research show that the learning process has improved and the student’s mathematic achievement has improved after applying the problem based learning model. The percentage of student who achieve minimal completeness criteria on first cycle was 68,42% and the second cycle was 78,94% which greater than the percentage of student who achieve minimal completeness criteria before implementation of problem based learning that only 44,73%. Therefore, the problem based learning can be used as an alternative in learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the learning process and the student’s mathematical problem solving skill by applying Problem Based Learning (PBL)l. This type of study is classroom action research with two cycles. This study was conducted in collaboration between researcher and teacher of mathematics. Subjects were students of class X TKR 1 SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru. The study was conducted in the second semester of academic year 2018/2019. The research instrument consists of mathematical learning instruments and instruments to collect data. Mathematical learning instruments are syllabus, lesson plans, and students’ worksheets. Data collection instruments are observation sheets and mathematical problem solving tests. Data analysis techniques are analysis descriptive narrative of qualitative data and descriptive statistical analysis of quantitative data. The result of this study showed that the implementation of PBL improved the learning process and the student’s mathematical problem solving skill. The average of student’s mathematical problem solving skill in firts cycle which is 72,09 had improved to 85,67 in second cycle. The improvement also found in the indicator average value in identifying the problem, devising a plan to solve the problem, carrying out the plan to solve the problem, and interpreting the solution. This study concludes that the implementation of PBL improved the student’s mathematical problem solving skill at class X TKR 1 SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru. PBL can be used as an alternative to learning, because through this learning can improve mathematical problem solving skill of the students.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aimed to improve the learning process and improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Cooperative Learning Model of Think Pair Square type. This research was conducted in class VII1 of SMP Negeri 3 Pekanbaru in the odd semester of 2019/2020. The subjects of this study were 40 students consisting of 21 boys and 19 girls. The research was done in two cycles with each cycle consisting of three meetings and once quiz. The research instrument used learning devices and data collection instrument. Learning devices consist of syllabus, lesson plan, student worksheet. Data collection instruments consisted of observation sheets and learning outcomes tests. Based on data analysis of teacher and student activities, it appears that there was an improvement in the learning process after implementation of Cooperative Learning model of Think Pair Square type. The data obtained from the student mathematics learning outcomes test shows that the competence of knowledge increased in the frequency of students achieving minimum mastery criteria (KKM) before action (12 students) to first cycle (26 students) and to second cycle (31 students). The competence of skills increased in the frequency of students achieving KKM from the first cycle (28 students) and to second cycle (37 students). This study results indicated that the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model of think pair square type can improve the learning process and improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes of class VII1 SMP Negeri 3 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This research was conducted because there are still many student learning outcomes that score below the value minimum mastery criteria (KBM) with a percentage of 10,34 % who achieve the minimum mastery criteria on the associating build flat side space of learning mathematics of class student VIII.6 SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru. This research aims to improve the learning process and mathematics learning outcomes by Cooperative learning structured approach Numbered Heads Together. The Classroom Action Research with two cycle, conducted in class VIII.6 SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru in the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. Research subject as many as 29 students. The research instrument consists of learning devices and instrument data collectors. The learning device consists of Syllabus, Lesson Plan and Worksheet. While The instrument data collector consists of observation sheet and math achievement test. The observation sheet obtained by qualitative descriptive while the test of mathematics learning outcomes obtained by analyzed statistically. The process of learning mathematics in cycle I to cycle II has increased. Percentage of students that reach KBM increase from the basic score, test I, and test II. The number of students who reach Minimum Mastery Criteria on basic score, daily test I and daily test II are respectively (10,34 %), (17,24%) and (48,27 %). The conclusion of this research is application of the Cooperative learning structured approach Numbered Heads Together can improve learning process and increase mathematics learning outcomes from the students at class VIII.6 SMP Negeri 16 Pekanbaru in the second semester academic years 2018/2019.

Abstract

The background of this research is the existence of curriculum change that claiming teachers to develop the learning devices and also still the limited learning devices that matching with the 2013 curriculum. This research aims to produce products in the form of mathematics learning devices such as syllabus, lesson plan, and student worksheet. The research method in this research is research and development. The development model in this research is the 4-D model which consists of the following stages define, design, develop and disseminate. The learning devices have been validated by three validators. Based on the analysis, the result of the validation of syllabus, lesson plan, and student worksheet is 3,73; 3,59; and 3,52 with very valid categories. The student worksheet that has been valid then tried out to the small groups (6 students) with different cognitive abilities. In the current conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, the trial was carried out by sending a student worksheet and questionnaire via WhatsApp. Based on the analysis, the score of the small group trial result of the student worksheet is 3,42 in the very practical category. This research produced mathematics learning devices. Based on analysis and discussion that the of mathematics learning devices such as syllabus, lesson plan and student worksheet with Problem Based Learning model on set material for the seventh grade of junior high school has fulfilled valid category and student worksheet has fulfilled practical category.

Abstract

This research produces a product in the form of a mathematics learning device using a Problem Based Learning model on Three Dimensional material to facilitate students' Higher Order Thinking Ability. Validity and practicality is the instrument of the research. 4-D is a model of development. The validity instrument is in the form of a validation sheet to assess the validity of the learning tools, namely the syllabus, RPP, and LAS. The practicum instrument is a student response questionnaire to assess the usefulness and ease of use of LAS. Three validators will validate it and revise it according to the validator's suggestions. Then a limited group trial was conducted with six students. The results of syllabus validation 3.79, RPP 3.73, and LAS 3.58 are very valid. While the result of LAS is 85.15%, it is said to be a very practical category. Based on these, it was concluded that this study produced a product in the form of a mathematical learning device based on the Problem Based Learning model on Three Dimensional material that was valid for syllabus, RPP, and LAS and practical for LAS.
