Abstract

Chitosan is a natural cationic polymer. That cationic property makes chitosan can form polyelectrolite complex (PEC) with anionic polymer. In this research, pectin was used as anionic polymer that interact ionically with chitosan. The aim of this research is to produce and characterize chitosan-pectin PEC that would be used as matrix in floating tablet. The solutions of chitosan and pectin 0,3% w/v were mixed in ratio 1:9, 3:7, 1:1, 7:3 and 9:1 with pH of the solution 4,5 and 5,0. The best condition to produce PEC was in pH 5,0 with ratio of chitosan and pectin = 3:7. The differences between chitosan-pectin PEC characteristic and its origin polymer were shown by functional group analysis, thermal analysis, swelling capacity and gel strength. The PEC was then used as matrix in floating tablet.

Abstract

Niosomes are non ionic surfactant vesicles that have potential application in the delivery of hydrophobic or amphilic drugs. We developed proniosomes, a dry formulation using a maltodextrin as a carrier coated with non ionic surfactant, which can be used to produce niosomes within a minutes by addition of hot water followed by agitation. A novel method is reported here for rapid preparation of proniosomes with wide range of surfactant loading. Maltodextrin DE 5-10 was hidrolyzed from tapioca starch using Thermamyl L 120 da Novo at 85ºC. The result from SEM analyses shown that proniosomes appear very similar to the maltodextrin, but the surface was more smooth. Niosome suspensions which was observed under the optical microscopy and particle size analyzer were evaluated as drug carrier using ibuprofen as a model. The result provide an indication of maltodextrin DE 5-10 from tapioca starch are potentialy carrier in the proniosome preparation which can be used for producing niosomes.

Abstract

The Use of Maltodextrin from Wheat Starch as an Exipient in Formula Tablet and Niosom dosage form. Wheat starch normally can be used as a tablet filler only, because the flow rate and binding capacity are not good enough. The wheat starch should be treated as follows : protein and amine free Bogasari wheat flour starch were hydrolyzed by α-amylase enzyme (Liquezym EX®) at variable temperature and time incubation to produce maltodextrin with different Dextrose Equivalent (DE) value. The maltodextrin could be used as tablet binder on wet granulation, tablet filler and binder on direct compress, a proniosom carrier to prepare niosom, a tablet filler, binder and disintegrator on direct compress tablet, a sugar coated tablet material. All of the product used active compound as amodel and the quality were evaluated according to the 4thed. of Indonesian Pharmacopeae and other valid references. The result shows that maltodextrin DE 1–5 could be used as a tablet binder which was processed by wet granulation on 2-5% concentration, as a tablet binder and filler which was processed by direct compress on 30-35%; maltodextrin DE 10-15 could be used as a proniosom carrier then continued to niosom preparation with surfactant composition of 2 mmol (1 mmol for span 60 and 1 mmol for cholesterol). The surfactant and drug concentration of 100 mmol/lt and 5 mmol/lt subsequently was proved to loading the drug as much as 81.28%. Maltodextrin DE 15-20 could be used as a tablet filler, binder and disintegrator at 84%, and starch hydrolyzed of DE 35-40 as a sugar coating which was more economical than sugar.

Abstract

Floating tablet is one of the drug delivery system retained in the stomach which aims to prolong the lag time of the drug in the stomach. This principle can be used to improve the efficacy of famotidine in treating diseases in the stomach The purpose of this research is to develop dosage form afloat by using Chitosan Pectin Electrolytes (PEC) as matrix then used as the matrix in tablet dosage form with famotidine as a drug model. PEC also combined with hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) with different. PEC was also combined with hydroxypropilmethylcellulose (HPMC) in different concentrations. The results of the dissolution study showed that PEC could retard the release of famotidin for 10 hours. PEC in combination with HPMC could retard the release of famotidin for 20 hours. Tablet that only contains PEC as matrix could remain buoyant for 12 hours while tablet with combination of PEC and HPMC could remain buoyant for 24 hours.

Abstract

Soybean extract has known for its antiaging potential. The addition of soybean extract was predicted can influence the physical stability of the cream. Therefore, this research was aimed to test the physical stability of cream contained soybean extract in different concentration (2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%). The physical stability test including the storage for eight weeks at room temperature, high temperature (40°±2°C), and low temperature (4°±2°C). Stability parameters were the organoleptic observation, pH, globul size, viscosity, and cycling test. Those four cream formula showed good stability in organoleptic, pH, globul size, viscosity, and cycling test.

Abstract

Study of the Capability of Niosomes that Used Maltodextrin from Garut Starch (Maranta arundinaceae Linn.) as a Chlorpheniramine Maleate Carrier. The aim of this research was to study the entrapment ability of ampiphylic drug, chlorpheniramine maleate (CTM), by niosome. Like liposomes, niosomes is an encapsulated drug carrier that has important role in a drug release system. Niosomes and liposomes are unstable, but niosomes could be handled by proniosomes. Proniosomes in this research was prepared using the combination of maltodextrin DE 5-10 from arrowroot starch (Maranta arundinaceae Linn.), Span 60 and Cholesterol as non ionic surfactant in six formulas. The entrapment level of CTM depends on combination of surfactant in proniosomes, drug substance concentration and proniosomes quantity, temperature, and hydration times. Niosomes (10mM) that was prepared by proniosomes in formula 3 has been hydrated at 80 oC for 2 minutes using demineralized water could entrapped 94,04%, of 1 mM CTM. The proniosomes in formula 3 was increased up to 30 mM surfactant and 10 mM CTM in niosomes, could increase the entrapment of CTM.

Abstract

The Use of Maltodextrin from Tapioca Starch as a Film Coating Tablet Material. Maltodexrin is a modifi ed starch product which can be use as a material fi lm coating tablet. The aim of the research was to study the capability of maltodextrin as a material fi lm coating exipient. Maltodextrin DE 5-10 was made by hidrolysis of tapioca starch with α-amylase enzyme from NOVO (Termamyl L120®), at 80° C, for 65 minute. Maltodextrin was used as a fi lm coating material at concentration 10%,15%,20% dan 25%. As a comparative fi lm coating material was used HPMC. The evaluation of the coating tablet was done accordance to Farmacope Indonesia third and fourth edition. The result show that maltodextrin DE 5-10 from tapioca starch can be used as fi lm coating at concentration 10-25% with concentration 10% gave better result a HPMC

Abstract

Rumput laut saat ini menjadi komoditas prima yang mempunyai nilai ekonomis penting bagi bangsa Indonesia. Nawa Cita Presiden Jokowi yang mengutamakan pentingnya daya saing produk menjadikan rumput laut menjadi komoditas utama untuk dijadikan produk yang mempunyai nilai saing dan dapat dikembangkan oleh pelaku usaha industri menengah ke bawah atau yang sering disebut UMKM. Salah satunya produk kosmetik. peneltian ini bertujuan menentukan desain prototipe teknologi tepat guna dan formulasi produk kosmetik (tabir surya). Analsis proksimat menggunakan metode AOAC dan pengujian antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH. Desai penelitian ini meliputi pengujian standar alat, dan formulasi produk dengan metode trial dan eror. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rumput laut yang cocok digunakan dalam pembuatan krim tabir surya adalah rumput laut merah dan coklat. Aktivitas antioksidan pada rumput laut merah yaitu dengan nilai IC50 120 ppm dan rumput laut coklat IC50 150 ppm. untuk aktivitas antioksidan bubur rumput laut merah dan coklat masing-masing yaitu 120 ppm dan 125 ppm. krim tabir surya yang dihasilkan bebas dari mikroba sesuai dengan standar SNI.

Abstract

Rumput laut merupakan bioresources yang keberadaanya melimpah di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan karakteristik bahan baku rumput laut tropika yang nantinya dapat diaplikasikan dalam industri pangan dan non pangan. Metode yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini meliputi karakteristik sampel dengan identifikasi, perhitungan rendemen dan proksimat menggunakan metode AOAC, ekstraksi menggunakan beberapa pelarut dengan metode Harborne. Hasil identifikasi rumput laut tropika yang diambil di kepulauan seribu yaitu E. Cotonii, Sargassum sp, Gellidium sp, Caulerpa sp, dan Padina sp. Kelima rumput laut dari Kepulauan Seribu mempunyai kondisi penampakan segar dengan nilai organoleptik berkisar 6-7. Pada perendaman dengan konsentrasi 0;0,3;0,5 memiliki kondisi warna keunguan, thalus sedikit kaku, dan mempunyai bau agak amis. Kadar air tertinggi terdapat pada Caulerpa sp. dengan nilai 90% dan terendah didapat E. cotonii (77,27%. Kadar abu tertinggi terdapat pada padina dengan nilai 6,63% dan terendah Caulerpa sp. dengan 1,95%. Kandungan lemak masing-masing rumput laut berkisar antara 0,1-0,4. Kandungan protein masing-masing rumput laut berkisar antara (1,13-2,19%). Kandungan serat kasar berkisar diantara 0,41-1,25%. Hasil ekstraksi rumput laut E. cotonii dan Sargassum sp. yang diekstraksi dengan menggunakan pelarut n-heksan dan etil asetat menghasilkan rendemen ekstrak tertinggi yaitu 396 mL dan 325 mL. Hasil karakteristik awal menunjukkan bahwa rumput laut Kepulauan Seribu berpotensi untuk dikembangkan untuk menjadi kosmetik.
