Abstract

Intelligent control included ANFIS and type-2 fuzzy (T2FLS) controllers grown-up rapidly and these controllers are applied successfully in power system control. Meanwhile, small signal stability problem appear in a large-scale power system (LSPS) due to load fluctuation. If this problem persists, and can not be solved, it will develop blackout on the LSPS. How to improve the LSPS stability due to load fluctuation is done in this research by coordinating of PSS based on ANFIS and T2FLS. The ANFIS parameters are obtained automatically by training process. Meanwhile, the T2FLS parameters are determined based on the knowledge that obtained from the ANFIS parameters. Input membership function (MF) of the ANFIS is 5 Gaussian MFs. On the other hand, input MF of the T2FLS is 3 Gaussian MFs. Results show that the T2FLS-PSS is able to maintain the stability by decreasing peak overshoot for rotor speed and angle. The T2FLS-PSS makes the settling time is shorter for rotor speed and angle on local mode oscillation as well as on inter-area oscillation than conventional/ ANFIS-PSS. Also, the T2FLS-PSS gives better performance than the other PSS when tested on single disturbance and multiple disturbances.

Abstract

This research focuses on the importance of maintaining generator output voltage stabilization using automatic voltage regulator (AVR), especially in dealing with load impacts and environmental changes. Through the implementation of internet of things (IoT), this system can be controlled and monitored remotely, enabling real-time monitoring without physical presence at the generator location. The main objective of this research is to increase energy efficiency by optimizing generator operation. System development methods include design, prototyping and testing stages. Test results show that the automatic voltage regulator is effective in maintaining a stable output voltage of around 220 V, even though the current varies according to the existing load. The power produced ranges from 23 to 670 W, with a power factor between 0.7 and 1. Despite a slight voltage drop to 217 V, the power factor increases to 0.93. The system uses NodeMCU to send data to Blynk and Google Spreadsheets servers, as well as servo motors and PZEM-004T sensors for control and monitoring. Overall, this research shows that the internet of things-based automatic voltage regulator system is effective in maintaining stability and increasing generator operational efficiency, with the ability to manage voltage, current, power, and power factor efficiently.

Abstract

Long high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link is commonly used to transmit electrical energy via land or under-sea cable. The long HVDC avoids reactive power losses (RPL) and power stability problems (PSP). On the contrary, the RPL and PSP phenomena occur in long high voltage alternative current-link (HVAC) caused by the high reactive component in the HVAC-link. However, the HVDC produces a high and slow transient current response (TCR) on the high value of the up-ramp rate. Interval type-2 fuzzy (IT2F) control on converter-side HVDC is proposed to mitigate this TCR problem. The IT2F is optimized by grey wolf optimizer (GWO) to adjust input-output IT2F parameters optimally. The performance of IT2F-GWO is assessed by the minimum value of integral time squared error (ITSE), peak overshoot, and settling time of the TCR. The IT2FC-GWO performance is validated by the performance of IT2F control that is optimized by genetic algorithm (IT2F-GA) and proportional integral (PI) controller. Simulation results show that the IT2F-GWO performs better with small ITSE, low peak overshoot, and shorter settling times than competing controllers.

Abstract

Growing-up of high voltage direct current (HVDC) penetration into modern power systems (PS) makes difficulty on the PS operation. The HVDC produces high and slow transient current (TC) at start-time, especially for higher up-ramp rate (Urr>20 pu/s). Its condition makes the HVDC cannot be linked and synchronized into the PS rapidly. A strategy to reduce the TC is proposed by an adaptive network based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) control on inverter HVDC-link to cope up this problem. The ANFIS control is tuned with the help of conventional control in various train-data by using offline mode. Response of ANFIS scheme is improved by suppressing TC at the values of 3.75% for the both phases (A and C), and 3.95% for phase B, for the Urr=30 pu/s. While the conventional control achieved at 9.1% for the both phases (A and B), and 9.2% for the phase C. The ANFIS control gives shorter settling time (0.553 s) than the conventional control (0.584 s) for all phases. The proposed control is more effective than the conventional control at all the scenario.
