Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Talking Stick cooperative learning model on students' learning outcomes in science subjects at SDN Tindaki. The background of this research is the relatively low learning outcomes of students in science subjects. Therefore, an appropriate learning model is needed to improve students' understanding and participation during the learning process. This research employed a quantitative, pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest method. The study subjects were 16 fifth-grade students from SDN Tindaki. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, and analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics, including a t-test after satisfying normality test requirements. The results showed that the average pretest score was 56.25, while the average posttest score increased to 81.56. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the calculated t-value (13.27) was greater than the t-table value (2.131) at the 0.05 significance level. This indicates that the cooperative learning model of the Talking Stick type significantly improves students' learning outcomes in science subjects for fifth-grade students at SDN Tindaki.

Abstract

Pancasila Education plays an important role in developing students' civic character and national values from the elementary school level. However, conventional teaching methods often make students less active and less able to understand abstract moral concepts. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of short-duration videos in improving students' learning outcomes in Pancasila Education. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. The study was conducted at SD Inpres Masigi, Parigi Moutong Regency. The research population consisted of third-grade students, while the sample involved two classes selected through purposive sampling and divided into an experimental group and a control group. The primary data were students' pre-test and post-test scores, supported by observation data, while secondary data were obtained from school documents, student records, and learning materials. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, Independent Sample T-Test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The Independent Sample T-Test obtained a significance value of 0.007 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The experimental group achieved a higher mean score than the control group, while the N-Gain score of 0.46 was categorized as moderate. Therefore, short-duration videos are reasonably effective as an alternative learning medium for improving elementary students' learning outcomes in Pancasila Education.

Abstract

The study aims to address the issue of low motivation and poor learning outcomes in Social Studies. Many students find Social Studies dull due to its focus on memorization, which leads to passive learning. Additionally, teachers' limited familiarity with various learning approaches contributes to students' lack of motivation. The study investigates whether implementing a project-based learning (PBL) model can positively impact motivation and learning outcomes in Social Studies. Fifth-grade students from SDN 17 Poso participated in the quasi-experimental research, divided into experimental and control groups. Pretests and posttests were administered before and after the learning period, respectively, to both groups. Data collection methods included tests, questionnaires, and documentation. Pretests helped establish baseline knowledge levels and facilitated comparison to evaluate the effectiveness of the PBL intervention. Results indicated a significant improvement in motivation and learning outcomes among students exposed to the project-based learning model. The study's implications extend to enhancing teaching methodologies and strategies to foster better engagement and achievement in Social Studies.

Abstract

This study explored Quizizz-assisted Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in relation to learning-style preference categories among fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Perumnas Palu. A qualitative descriptive design was used. Thirty students were invited to complete a learning-style questionnaire, and 28 responses were used to identify visual, auditory, and kinesthetic categories. One student from each category and the classroom teacher participated in classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The visual-category participant was particularly engaged by images, colors, animations, and the leaderboard. The auditory-category participant described Quizizz as enjoyable but still relied on direct teacher explanations to understand new material. The kinesthetic-category participant was more active during the quiz activity and responded positively to competition, although teacher guidance remained important. At the class level, Quizizz supported an active formative-assessment atmosphere, but limited Chromebook availability and unstable internet connectivity constrained implementation. These findings are context-specific descriptions of participants’ preferences and experiences; they do not demonstrate that matching instruction to learning styles improves learning outcomes.
