Abstract

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease and one of the leading causes of death worldwide. One indicator of the TB control program's success is the treatment success rate. Various factors are believed to hinder the success of TB treatment, including therapy failure due to non-adherence, which is one of the main factors. Therefore, appropriate interventions are needed to monitor and evaluate TB patient medication adherence using suitable media that are easy to use and accessible anytime and anywhere through mobile health technology. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Android-based SIMANTB application on medication adherence in pulmonary TB patients. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design with a pre-experimental approach using a static group comparison, conducted over 28 days (1 month). The sampling technique used was simple random sampling, consisting of 30 respondents divided into intervention and control groups. Research data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk and Mann-Whitney tests. The SIMANTB application was found to be highly suitable for tuberculosis patients, with material feasibility percentages of 93.06% and 93.75%. The use of the Android-based SIMANTB application significantly increased medication adherence in TB patients (p = 0.004). The development of the Android-based SIMANTB application is expected to provide a solution for health workers (doctors, nurses, TB officers) to support TB patients in monitoring and motivating their treatment, thereby increasing the success rate of treatment.

Abstract

Stunting is chronic malnutrition which is based on an index of body length compared to age (PB/U) or height compared to age (TB/U) with a limit (z-score) of less than -2 SD (Standard Deviation). Stunting problems need to be detected early, so that the interventions given can reduce long-term effects. Detection and management of stunting is carried out through empowerment efforts. Family empowerment as an effective step to reduce stunting cases through prevention and management efforts. The role of parents is very important in preventing stunting through detection and management. Anthropometric-based instruments that are easy to use are needed for the detection and management of stunting. Objective to analyze the variety of health promotion strategies to prevent stunting. The research design is a Systematic Literature Review of articles or journals published in 2018-2023, accessed on Google Scholar, PubMed and Scopus with the Prisma Flow technique. Research with different designs ranging from descriptive studies to quasi-experimental and participatory studies shows that an integrated and family-based approach can significantly improve knowledge, skills and awareness about stunting prevention. Programs involving education on exclusive breastfeeding, healthy food processing for toddlers, and maternal reproductive health have proven effective in reducing the prevalence of stunting. Health promotion strategies found in the literature review were mostly conceptual rather than operational and did not show when these strategies successfully reduced stunting.

Abstract

The prevalence of perineal rupture increases every year, as a result, the greater the chance of puerperal infection in postpartum mothers. Factors that cause puerperal infection is the care of the perineal wound that is not paid attention to. One of the complementary treatments uses herbal plants made from red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) in the form of hydrogel preparations. Proving the potential of red betel leaf hydrogel (Piper crocatum) against accelerated perineal wound healing and staphylococcus aureus bacterial growth. This type of quantitative research uses a quasi-experimental method with purposive sampling, post-test design only with control group. Sampling was in accordance with the inclusion criteria with a sample size of 45 respondents, 15 control respondents, 15 respondents to intervention I with a dose of 2x1 a day and 15 respondents to intervention II with a dose of 3x1 a day. Data was obtained from the REEDA score assessment scale which was obtained from the assessment of Redness, Edema (Swelling), Eccymosis (Bleeding), Discharge (Extraction) and Approximation (Wound union) and vaginal swab samples carried out on days 3 and 7 for 7 days. The analysis used to assess variables is the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney tests. The analysis used to assess the variables is the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney test. Red betel leaf hydrogel intervention 2x1 a day and intervention 3x1 a day has the potential to accelerate perineal wound healing and decrease the growth of S. aureus bacteria with p-value <0.05, so it can be interpreted that there is a significant difference effect. The greatest decreasing value in reducing the REEDA score and the growth of S. aureus bacteria was the 3x1 a day intervention group, namely 4.60 and 8.74, so it can be concluded that the 3x1 intervention was more effective than the 2x1 a day intervention.

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant global health concern, contributing to high mortality rates and increased risks of cardiovascular disease. In Indonesia, hypertension prevalence has reached over 33% of the adult population. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as nature sound therapy and isometric handgrip exercises, have shown promise in managing hypertension by reducing systolic blood pressure. This study introduced Tool Nature Sound and Isometric Handgrip (Toonatric), an innovative tool combining nature sound therapy and isometric handgrip exercises. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with 66 elderly hypertensive patients divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group used Toonatric for 30 minutes daily over 5 days, while the control group continued standard care. Pre and post-intervention blood pressure measurements were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests due to non-normal data distribution. Results indicated a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure in the intervention group (p = 0.000), with an effect size of Cohen’s d = 0.48, demonstrating a moderate clinical effect. Toonatric has the potential as a complementary tool for managing hypertension in elderly, combining psychological and physical benefits. Further research should focus on long-term effects, broader populations, and usability improvements for clinical and home settings.
