Abstract

This study highlights the significant differences between educational conditions in rural and urban areas, particularly in terms of teacher quality and administrative support. The gap between schools in rural and urban areas often affects educational outcomes, which ultimately impacts students' opportunities and quality of life. However, research comparing teacher quality and administrative support in rural and urban schools has been limited. Therefore, this study aims to fill this gap by conducting an in-depth comparative study between rural and urban schools. The research method used is a comparative approach to analyze the differences and similarities between rural-based schools and urban-based schools in terms of teacher quality and administrative support. The results indicate that the comparison of teacher quality in rural and urban schools is influenced by two types of support: managerial support and academic support. Teacher quality and administrative support play an essential role in creating a quality and effective learning environment in both rural-based and urban-based schools.

Abstract

Abstract

Determining the curriculum is the government's authority, in early 2022, the independent curriculum was launched. Implementing an independent curriculum is a challenge in itself for education in North Kalimantan. The reason is educational facilities in this region are not evenly distributed. However, several agencies have made efforts to continue to make the independent curriculum program a success. This research was conducted using the systematic literature review (SLR) method. The results of this research are that the government, teacher groups, and several schools have developed and implemented an independent curriculum. Teaching staff in North Kalimantan experienced various difficulties in implementing the independent curriculum technique, including a lack of resources, such as teaching materials and technology, and confusion due to a lack of understanding. This case is an indication that there is still a need to improve the quality of education, especially in the interior of North Kalimantan.

Abstract

This research focuses on the challenges in implementing the Independent Curriculum at SD Negeri 5 Konda as well as efforts to optimize educational human resources (HR) to improve the quality of learning. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through structured interviews, participant observation and document analysis. This research involved teachers and school principals as research subjects. The research results show that the main challenges in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum include teachers' limited time to participate in training, skills gaps in using technology, and high administrative burdens. Another challenge is limited infrastructure, especially in rural schools, which affects the effectiveness of the use of technology in learning. The proposed optimization strategies include practice-based training, digitalization of administrative tasks, and increased inter-teacher collaboration. The role of the principal is also very important in supporting and providing resources for teachers. The implication of this research is that by optimizing human resources through a planned strategy, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum can run more effectively, which will ultimately improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing educational innovation in Bahodopi District, Morowali Regency. The research focuses on government policy support, community participation, resource limitations, and the socio-economic conditions of the local community in implementing educational innovations. A qualitative research method with a case study approach was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving policymakers, educators, and local community members. The findings reveal that government policies, both at the central and regional levels, play a strategic role in creating a framework that supports educational innovation. Community participation, through financial support and volunteer efforts, also strengthens the implementation of educational programs. However, challenges such as limited resources and infrastructure, as well as socio-economic conditions, hinder the optimization of educational innovation. Abstract

Mathematics learning outcomes in Indonesian junior high schools, particularly in rural areas such as Pakue Tengah District, North Kolaka, remain below expectations. Many students fail to reach the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM), indicating the need to examine classroom-level factors that may influence achievement. This study aims to analyze the relationship between classroom management and learning discipline with students’ mathematics learning outcomes. A survey method with a correlational approach was employed, involving a sample of 73 eighth-grade students selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires on classroom management and learning discipline, along with mathematics achievement tests, and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that classroom management has a positive and significant relationship with mathematics outcomes (r = 0.579; R² = 33.52%), while learning discipline also demonstrates a significant relationship (r = 0.533; R² = 28.41%). Together, both variables explain 55.95% of the variance in students’ mathematics achievement. These findings align with prior studies highlighting the importance of effective classroom management and discipline in enhancing student engagement and learning results. The study implies that teachers should strengthen classroom management strategies, promote learning discipline, and foster conducive environments. Academically, the research contributes by providing empirical evidence from a rural Indonesian context, while practically it offers recommendations for teacher training and school policy to improve mathematics achievement.
