Abstract

This study investigates science learning outcomes on the topic Matter and Its Changes among seventh-grade students at MTs, with a focus on gender differences. Using a descriptive survey method, the entire population of 77 students (two male classes and two female classes) was involved. Data were collected through post-tests, questionnaires, observations, and interviews, and analyzed quantitatively using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that female students had significantly higher average learning outcomes (64.04) compared to male students (45.50). Further analysis revealed that female students performed better at cognitive levels C3, C4, and C5, as well as across all subtopics. Qualitative findings from teacher interviews suggest that this difference is consistent and may be attributed to female students’ ambition and logical reasoning, as observed in class. However, questionnaire data indicate that male students report higher self-confidence. The study concludes that gender differences significantly influence science learning outcomes, with implications for instructional strategies and gender-responsive teaching practice

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are essential competencies in the 21st century. Although many studies have examined Engineering Design Process-STEM (EDP-STEM), there is still limited synthesis of its effectiveness in physics learning. This study applied a systematic review using the PRISMA protocol and synthesized nine empirical studies published between 2019 and 2024. Data were analyzed with a random-effects model. The overall effect size was 0.64 (95% CI [0.17–1.11], I² = 86%), indicating a moderate positive impact of EDP-STEM on students’ HOTS. Moderator analysis revealed that learning media (prototyping), education level (high school), and performance-based assessments produced the most significant effects. EDP-STEM effectively enhances HOTS in physics learning, particularly problem-solving skills. Teachers are encouraged to integrate prototyping and authentic assessment strategies. Future research should expand the number of studies and contexts to strengthen the evidence base.

Abstract

Background: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan Diklat Wawasan Kebhinekaan Global bagi mahasiswa Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) dalam jabatan, dengan tujuan meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap konsep dan praktik multikulturalisme. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan secara daring dan dirancang untuk membekali calon guru dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam mengelola keberagaman budaya di lingkungan pendidikan. Metode: Metode yang digunakan meliputi ceramah, diskusi kelompok, simulasi, dan studi kasus. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui kuis, proyek akhir, dan survei kepuasan peserta. Hasil: peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap budaya lokal, nasional, dan internasional, serta sikap inklusif dan kemampuan mengelola kelas multikultural. Persiapan yang matang, pelaksanaan yang interaktif, dan evaluasi yang komprehensif menjadi kunci keberhasilan diklat ini. Survei kepuasan peserta menunjukkan bahwa 90% peserta merasa diklat sangat bermanfaat dan relevan dengan kebutuhan mereka sebagai calon guru. Kesimpulan: Implementasi diklat ini diharapkan tidak hanya mendukung terciptanya lingkungan pendidikan yang lebih inklusif dan toleran di Indonesia, tetapi juga memberikan kontribusi keilmuan dengan menyediakan model pendidikan multikultural yang dapat diterapkan dan diteliti lebih lanjut oleh para akademisi dan praktisi pendidikan.

Abstract

Pencemaran lingkungan merupakan materi IPA yang konkrit (nyata) sehingga menuntut siswa untuk terampil memecahkan masalah dalam pembelajaran dengan pendekatan kontekstual. Namun faktanya, kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa masih rendah. Sementara itu, solusi berupa buku ajar berbasis PBL-STEM yang terintegrasi dengan Asesmen Formatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi pencemaran lingkungan masih jarang dilakukan. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan produk buku ajar menggunakan model PBL-STEM yang terintegrasi dengan Asesmen Formatif pada tema pencemaran lingkungan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan mengetahui kelayakan serta keterbacaan produk. Pada penelitian ini digunakan model penelitian dan pengembangan Borg & Gall yang terdiri dari tiga langkah pokok: kajian awal, pengembangan produk, dan uji coba produk. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu angket validasi materi, angket validasi media, dan angket uji keterbacaan buku ajar. Data yang diperoleh berupa data kuantitatif dan data kualitatif. Analisis kuantitatif pada data kelayakan dan keterbacaan produk dalam penelitian ini disusun menurut skala Guttman. Sedangkan analisis kualitatif pada data kelayakan dan keterbacaan produk diperoleh dari komentar atau saran tertulis dari validator dan saran dari responden/siswa. Hasil validasi produk oleh validator menunjukkan bahwa RPP yang dikembangkan memiliki persentase kelayakan rata-rata 100%, buku ajar memiliki persentase kelayakan rata-rata sebesar 96%, serta dari hasil uji keterbacaan oleh 26 siswa menunjukkan bahwa buku ajar memiliki persentase keterbacaan rata-rata sebesar 97%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa RPP dan buku ajar berbasis model PBL-STEM dengan Asesmen Formatif yang dikembangkan memiliki kriteria sangat layak dan memiliki peluang untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Penelitian mendatang direkomendasikan untuk mengimplementasikan produk buku ajar ini di kelas pembelajaran sesungguhnya.

Abstract

This research evaluates a Physics Pedagogy based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with the Merdeka Curriculum for Newton's Laws of Motion material in Grade X high school. The method used is Research and Development (RnD) with a 5D model, focusing up to the Develop stage. Define includes needs analysis and student competency identification, while Design involves the creation of modules and student worksheets. The Develop stage includes development, expert validation, and limited testing. The results indicate a high feasibility of the local wisdom-based module using Rabi Ro’o games integrated with the Merdeka Curriculum, as assessed by experts in terms of content, teaching, and language aspects. Positive student responses confirm that this module is suitable for high school Physics instruction.

Abstract

This research explores the application of ethnoscience in physics education by using shrimp paste (shrimp paste) as a learning medium. Through a qualitative approach involving theoretical and literature reviews, this research illustrates how physics concepts can be taught through the traditional process of making shrimp paste and analyzes effective strategies from previous research. Data were collected from academic sources, including journals, books, and articles related to ethnoscience, physics education, and shrimp paste production. This research identifies key physics concepts in making shrimp paste, such as fermentation, chemical reactions, temperature, pressure, and diffusion, and integrates these concepts into a physics curriculum model. The literature review evaluates past research to highlight successful strategies for implementing ethnoscience in physics education. Findings show that integrating local cultural practices such as shrimp paste production increases students' understanding, motivation, and engagement by providing relevant and meaningful learning experiences. Analysis shows that contextual learning, development of critical thinking skills, and strong student-community relationships are significant benefits of this approach. This research emphasizes the importance of integrating local wisdom into science education to make learning more contextual and impactful.
