Abstract

The aim of this research was to synthesize and characterize chitosan-calcium alginate as matrix isoniazid encapsulation to produce controlled release isoniazid drug. The microparticles were evaluated for surface morphology, functional groups, size particles, drug content and swelling index. The drug release kinetic was investigated at gastric and intestinal artificial pH. The results showed that isoniazid-calcium alginate-chitosan has majority particle diameter of 1001-1500 nm. The release mechanism of isoniazid was through combination of erosion and diffusion.

Abstract

In this study, papain was immobilized on chitosan with Mg(II) cosslinked agent. Studies on free and immobilized papain systems for determination of optimum pH, optimum temperatur, thermal stability and reusability were carried out. The results showed that free papain had optimum pH 6.5 and optimum temperature 55 °C while the immobile papain hadoptimum pH 8 and optimum temperature 80 °C. The thermal stability of the immobilized papain, relative to that of the free papain, was markedly increased. The immobilized papain can be reused for at least six times.

Abstract

Utilization of shrimp shell has been optimum so that in this research preparation of adsorbent chitosan from shell of shrimp (Penaus monodon) as raw materials for cadmium(II) adsorption was carried out. The chitin was made by the deproteination, demineralization; chitosan was prepared by chitin deacetylation. This work was started with Infra Red Spectroscopic identification of functional group. Percentage of deacetylation was determined also by Infra Red Spectroscopy. Contant of nitrogen was determined by Kjeldhal method. The isotherm adsorption Langmuir model was employed for the determination of the energy and the capacity in adsorption. Result showed that chitosan could be isolated from shrimp shell waste with % deacetylation degree of 79.80 and % nitrogen 7.11. Cadmium(II) was chemically adsorbed on chitosan involving energi adsorption of 32.27 kJ/mole. Adsorption capacity of cadmium(II) was 6.35 x 10-5 mole/g. The constant adsorption rate k, was 0.91 x 10-3 s-1 and equilibrium adsorption desorption are K = 10.28 x 103. The ability adsorption of chitosan in real waste has the efficiency of 90%.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari kapasitas dan mekanisme proses adsorpsi Ni(II) pada kitosan sulfat. Variabel yang dipelajari adalah pengaruh konsentrasi ion logam Ni(II) terhadap kemampuan adsorpsi kitosan sulfat dan desorpsi fraksinasi sequensial terhadap Ni(II) yang sudah teradsopsi untuk mengetahui mekanisme adsorpsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adsorpsi ion Ni(II) pada kitosan dan kitosan sulfat berlangsung secara kimia dengan energi adsorpsi sebesar 27,85- 34,48 kJ/mol. Kapasitas adsorption ion logam Ni(II) untuk kitosan dalam medium air dan ammonium sulfat 0,1 M adalah 10,72.10-5 mol/g dan 15,26.10-5 mol/g, sedangkan untuk adsorben kitosan-sulfat dalam medium amonium sufat 0,1M adalah 19,25.10-5 mol/g. Proses adsorpsi Ni(II) pada kitosan sulfat medium amonium sulfat mempunyai kapasitas adsorpsi yang paling besar dan interaksi didominasi oleh perbentukan kompleks. Abstract

Intention of activity of this Pengabdian pada Masyarakat (PKM) is to conduct activity of training and is adjacent of partner Industri Kecil Menengah (IKM) in developing the effort shallot fry. Partner during the time have run the effort shallot fry traditionally, yielded to be product to be sold to whole sale. Special goals to be got by partner are skilled way of making shallot fry which with quality evaluated from health side and competent sell. Owning knowledge and earn system applied of management marketing and its business activity, owning good packaging and also have permission legality of is effort. Efektivity and of optimalization of program through giving of training and adjacent in making of shallot fry, giving training of managemen of marketing, assisting to make packaging desain and manage permission legality is effort. Results of this activity indicate that partner very enthusiastic followed of training phase and is adjacent effort which is conducted. Partner feel to like because its effort permission of its fair to middling quality of goodness, its legality also have fufilled big sebagain so that partner feel balmy to run the effort. Ability to produce shallot fry to be expected increasing so that will push society create employment and improving economics and production.

Abstract

Coronavirus disease-19 (Covid-19) adalah penyakit yang memberikan resiko kematian yang sangat tinggi. Alternatif pencegahan adalah dengan konsumsi susu kedelai berempah karena dapat meningkatkan imun dan kaya antioksidan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk (1) memberikan pengetahuan tentang Covid-19 dan cara penanggulangannya, (2) memberikan keterampilan pembuatan sari kedelai berempah, dan (3) melakukan sosialisasi produk kepada masyarakat oleh peserta latih. Metode pelatihan dilakukan secara daring dan diunggah melalui youtube https://youtu.be/mb_6H2biczA, dilanjutkan praktek mandiri dan sosialisasi produk hasil praktek mandiri kepada masyarakat sekitar. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peserta latih memberikan respon bahwa materi pengetahuan tentang Covid-19 dan cara pembuatan sari kedelai adalah penting dan cara penyajiannya sangat menarik. Sebanyak 86.7 % peserta menyatakan bahwa materi adalah baru, dan 60% peserta menjawab akan mempraktekkan hasil pelatihan. Satu orang peserta telah mampu menginisiasi tetangganya untuk berwirausaha dan telah menerima pesanan. Sebanyak 86.7 % peserta latih telah melakukan sosialisasi kepada keluarga (46.7%), tetangga (33.3%) dan teman kantor  (13.3%). Tanggapan peserta sosialisasi terhadap  produk sari kedelai rempah menyatakan suka (46.7%) sampai sangat suka (53.3%), Respon peserta sosialisasi menyatakan bahwa mereka menyatakan kegiatan ini cukup manfaat (33.3%) hingga sangat manfaat (66.7%) dan 100 % berkeinginan untuk mengetahui pembuatan sari kedelai rempah.Kata Kunci: Covid-19, imunitas, sari kedelai berempah, pelatihan

Abstract

Virus Corona ini telah melanda sekitar 152 negara di dunia yang tersebar di semua benua termasuk negara Indonesia. Propinsi Jawa Timur menempati urutan tertinggi jumlah positip Covid 19 dan dikategorikan dalam zona merah di 32 kota dan kabupaten termasuk Tuban. Pencegahan penyebaran virus corona dapat dilakukan dengan cara menjaga jarak aman, menggunakan masker dan mencuci tangan dengan air mengalir atau menggunakan sabun. Sabun cuci tangan mengandung bahan antiseptic yang dapat membunuh virus. Universitas Negeri Surabaya mempunyai potensi dosen-dosen yang mempunyai kemampuan untuk membuat sabun cuci tangan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk membuat sabun cuci tangan untuk memutus rantai penyebaran Covid 19 khususnya di Kabupaten Tuban. Telah berhasil memproduksi sabun cuci tangan kemasan 500 mL sebanyak 500 buah dan telah diserahkan ke Kabupaten Tuban melalui Unit Crisis Center Unesa. Bantuan diterima oleh Bupati Tuban dan didistribusikan ke masyarakat Tuban yang membutuhkan. Kata Kunci: sabun cuci tangan, Covid-19, Tuban

Abstract

Livelihoods the people of Sidokare village, Rejoso sub-district, Nganjuk regency are mostly farmers. In addition to planting rice, they also plant shallots which are their signature product. Most of the women in Sidokare village are housewives who are also farmers and farm labourers. However, during the period between the planting season and harvest season, most of them are unemployed and have no income. This is certainly a burden for the family's economy, in addition to the Covid-19 pandemic that causes the price of harvest to be uncertain while the daily needs must still be met. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide training and assistance in the production of home industry scale soap products while still paying attention to the quality that meets health standards by utilizing herbal ingredients. This activity is expected to equip women in Sidokare Nganjuk Village with skills in making home industry soap products that can be used as business startups to support the family economy. As a result of this activity, the community gains skills to produce various liquid soap products that can be marketed in their neighbourhood.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the effectiveness of differentiated learning materials oriented toward the nature of science (NoS) to improve students’ scientific literacy skills. The research type is quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The research was given to 31 students in VIII-A class of Junior High School 16 Gresik. The effectiveness of differentiated learning materials oriented toward the nature of science (NoS) was obtained from the scientific literacy skills test and student response questionnaire. The student’s scientific literacy skills test showed an improvement in gain score between the pretest and posttest scores of 0.64, which is in the medium category; besides that, most students gave positive responses to the learning materials seen from the percentage of interest in learning materials 84.68% (very interested). The data obtained showed that differentiated learning materials oriented toward the nature of science were effective as learning materials to improve students’ scientific literacy skills in Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite is an inorganic material that is commonly used as a re-mineralizing agent. Adding natural ingredients such as green betel leaf can increase the antibacterial properties due to the presence of phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and tannins. This study aims to determine the physical and chemical characteristics of the formulation of hydroxyapatite-betel leaf extract and the antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans. To characterize the combination of hydroxyapatite-betel leaf extract, XRD, PSA and FTIR analyses were performed. Particle size analysis showed the smallest results in the variation of betel 0.3 g, which is 690.08 nm. FTIR characterization showed the presence of OH, PO43− and CO32− functional groups from hydroxyapatite and C=O derived from betel leaf extract. In addition, in vitro and in vivo analyses were performed to assess the antibacterial activity of this formulation. The in vitro antibacterial activity test against S. mutans showed strong inhibitory activity. Our finding suggests that the formulation has the potential to be used as a medication or prevention agent for dental caries.
