Abstract

Rapid advances in digital technology within the agribusiness sector require Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adapt their operational strategies to remain competitive. This study presents a single-case study conducted at Toko Pertanian Kurnia Manokwari, an agribusiness MSME in West Papua, which experiences inefficiencies in its payment and order fulfillment processes due to reliance on manual bank transfers and centralized owner-based verification. The study aims to optimize the payment process through the application of Business Process Reengineering (BPR) by modeling the existing (As-Is) and redesigned (To-Be) processes using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and evaluating process performance with the ASME Standard Process Chart through throughput efficiency measurement. The analysis identifies centralized verification as a single point of failure that prolongs transaction cycle times. The proposed solution integrates an API-based automated payment gateway to replace manual verification. The results indicate that the As-Is process achieves a throughput efficiency of 35.48% with a total cycle time of 186 minutes, whereas the evaluation of the redesigned To-Be process model indicates a potential increase in throughput efficiency to 100% and a reduction in cycle time to 23 minutes. These findings demonstrate that BPR supported by digital payment system integration, based on To-Be process modeling, can significantly improve transaction efficiency and operational scalability in agribusiness MSMEs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and redesign the employee attendance process at PT Esa Solusi Mandiri, which is still conducted manually using paper-based forms and Microsoft Excel recapitulation. The Business Process Reengineering (BPR) approach is applied to identify value-added and non-value-added activities within the attendance process. Data were collected through semi-structured online interviews with one key informant responsible for attendance management, as well as documentation in the form of monthly attendance reports. The duration of each process stage was estimated based on interview results and administrative document analysis, resulting in a total cycle time of 190 minutes for the manual attendance process. Process efficiency was evaluated using Throughput Efficiency (TE) as an indicator of the proportion of value-added time. Based on this analysis, a conceptual design of a digital attendance process was developed, incorporating automated recording and real-time data access for HR and Finance departments. The results indicate that the proposed digital process has the potential to reduce the cycle time to 11 minutes and increase the TE value from 23.68% to 81.82%. These findings represent the potential improvement in administrative efficiency, given that the proposed digital process has not yet been implemented or tested in real operational conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and redesign the child case reporting and approval process at the Social Service Office of Batu City, which is still dominated by manual procedures. The Business Process Reengineering (BPR) approach is modeled using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) to identify process bottlenecks and formulate information technology–based solutions. Data were collected through field observations during an internship program, a review of standard operating procedures, and short interviews with officers, then validated through the development of a web-based prototype consisting of a reporting portal and an internal dashboard. The redesigned process includes the implementation of digital ticketing and queue status, early validation and duplicate checking, requests for data correction, weighted triage (P1–P3), as well as electronic approval and automatic issuance of assignment letters. Evaluation results show an increase in throughput efficiency from 56.41% and 40.74% to 86.96% and 89.29%, along with a reduction in process time from 78 to 23 minutes and from 108 to 28 minutes. This redesign accelerates service delivery, organizes queues, and improves traceability without changing existing SOP provisions.

Abstract

This study applies Business Process Reengineering (BPR) to improve the operational efficiency of the library at SMKN 13 Malang. The manual borrowing process was mapped and analyzed using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and evaluated with the ASME-based throughput efficiency test. Data were collected through interviews and direct observation of library staff and activities. The initial borrowing process required 40,5 minutes with a throughput efficiency of only 62,96%, indicating long queues and a high risk of recording errors. The reengineered process introduces barcode-based automation for visitor identification and book lending, eliminating four non–value-added steps and automating two others. The redesigned workflow reduced the total borrowing time to 14,5 minutes and improved throughput efficiency to 100%. These results demonstrate that BPR significantly accelerates service delivery, reduces administrative burdens on staff, and enhances the overall user experience.

Abstract

Digital transformation is crucial for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to remain competitive and more efficient in the modern era. This research focuses on the digitalization process of UNO Studio, a company that provides photography and studio rental services. Currently, UNO Studio faces operational challenges due to its manual reservation system. This manual method can lead to delays, scheduling errors, and inefficiencies. Therefore, this research aims to upgrade UNO Studio's reservation system to a web-based system fully integrated with a digital payment system. The method used is a prototype approach applied in the software reengineering process. The system was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with Supabase as the data manager and Midtrans to integrate payments automatically and in real time. Black-box testing results show that all key system features run smoothly without errors. Furthermore, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) results indicate a user satisfaction rate of 88.70%, considered excellent. Overall, this system successfully automates the entire reservation and payment process, improving operational efficiency and service accuracy and enhancing the quality of customer service through secure and easy-to-use digital integration.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has created both opportunities and challenges for businesses, especially in the retail sector. In an effort to improve operational efficiency and service quality, information systems are an important requirement that cannot be ignored. Queen Cell and Queen Baby Shop, two retail business units operating in Tanggamus Regency, still run inventory management and sales transactions manually. The process often causes various problems such as delays in recording, stock mismatches, and financial report errors. To overcome these problems, this research designs and implements a web-based information system specifically designed for the needs of managing goods and sales transactions. The system development methodology uses the SDLC waterfall model approach because it is considered suitable for project needs with clear and stable specifications from the start. The system developed has two types of users, namely ad- min and employees, with the main features being product data management, transaction recording, and sales report processing. The imple- mentation results show that the system can run as expected and is able to significantly improve work efficiency and data accuracy. In addition, the system supports multi-platform access through the web so that it is flexible to use on various devices. It is hoped that this in- formation system can be a sustainable solution for small to medium scale retailers in facing the challenges of digitalization.

Abstract

The water billing administration process in Gang Gedang Mas, Curungrejo Village, is still conducted manually, resulting in slow procedures, inefficiency, and a high risk of errors. This study aims to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the water billing administration process through a Business Process Reengineering (BPR) approach. The improvements focus on four main processes: water meter recording, data entry, bill calculation, and billing information distribution, involving two key actors: field officers and administrative staff. This research employed a case study method, consisting of direct observation, process modeling using BPMN notation, and the measurement of processing time efficiency and throughput within one billing cycle before and after the process redesign. The proposed solution is a digital process model design that supports workflow automation at the design level, without implementing an actual system, while still maintaining the operational role of field officers. The results indicate a significant reduction in processing time, from 684 minutes to 168 minutes, along with a 307.5% increase in administrative process throughput efficiency within one billing cycle. This study demonstrates that applying BPR through process model redesign can optimize water billing management in small-scale communities with limited infrastructure, providing an efficient solution that can be adapted to similar contexts.
