Abstract

Computational Thinking (CT) has become a crucial competence in 21st-century vocational education, particularly in programming-related fields. However, programming instruction in vocational high schools often emphasizes syntactic correctness rather than higher-order problem-solving processes. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of integrating the HUTS Online Judge (HUSTOJ) system with a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving students’ CT skills and to examine students’ learning behavior patterns through system log data. The study employed a quantitative pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 38 tenth-grade vocational students majoring in Software Engineering. CT skills were measured using Problem-Based programming tests covering decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking, while learning behaviors were analyzed using HUSTOJ activity logs. The results indicate a significant improvement in CT skills, with a large effect size and a moderate-to-high normalized gain. Log analysis revealed distinct learning behavior profiles, highlighting the role of iterative refinement and persistence in CT development. These findings suggest that integrating HUSTOJ and PBL provides effective scaffolding for learning and process-oriented assessment, making it a promising instructional model for vocational programming education.

Abstract

The transformation of 21st-century education demands an approach that integrates knowledge, technology, and real-world contexts to foster critical thinking and collaboration, positioning Phenomenon-Based Learning (PhBL) as an innovative model that links authentic experiences with conceptual understanding. This study aims to map and analyze global developments, thematic directions, and digital integration in PhBL research. The method used is a bibliometric approach to 352 Scopus-indexed publications from 1982 to 2024, with performance and science mapping analysis using VOSviewer software. The results show a significant increase in PhBL publications after 2016, peaking in 2024, indicating the growing relevance of this approach in contextual and technology-based learning. Keyword co-occurrence analysis identified five main clusters that describe the paradigm shift in PhBL from human-centered pedagogy to digitally integrated learning. These findings suggest that PhBL has developed into an interdisciplinary framework that integrates pedagogy and technology while addressing Indonesia’s priority education issues, including climate change, health education, and financial literacy. In conclusion, PhBL is a promising learning innovation for realizing meaningful, adaptive, and sustainable learning in facing the challenges of 21st-century education.

Abstract

Student creativity and engagement in learning activities influence their level of understanding of a learning theory. Elementary school students' interviewing skills pose a challenge in language learning, particularly in classrooms with diverse learning profiles and limited student engagement. To address these pedagogical challenges, this classroom action research examines the effectiveness of integrating differentiated instruction with the Jigsaw Method in improving students' comprehension during interviews. This research was conducted with fourth-grade students who exhibited heterogeneous levels of understanding and creativity, necessitating adaptive and collaborative learning strategies. A quantitative approach was used, utilizing interview comprehension tests, creativity observations, and student engagement questionnaires as data sources. Data were analyzed using correlational and regression techniques to identify relationships between variables and the impact of learning. The results showed that integrating differentiated instruction and the Jigsaw Method effectively improved students' comprehension during interviews. Adaptive, collaborative, and contextually designed learning can support students' optimal comprehension during interviews.

Abstract

Digital SMEs increasingly process customer data through social media, marketplaces, digital payment systems, and other online applications, yet privacy compliance often remains informal and inconsistently embedded in daily operations. This study examines how technological, organizational, and environmental conditions influence privacy policy compliance through compliance readiness and Business Process Management capability. Its novelty lies in integrating the TOE framework, organizational readiness, and BPM capability within a sequential mediation model, thereby explaining how contextual conditions are converted into operational compliance practices. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among 174 owners, managers, and staff of Indonesian digital SMEs selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS, including measurement model assessment, bootstrapping with 5,000 resamples, and predictive relevance testing. The results show that TOE Factors strongly influence Compliance Readiness and also improve BPM Capability. Compliance Readiness positively affects both BPM Capability and Privacy Policy Compliance, while BPM Capability further strengthens Privacy Policy Compliance. The model explains 54.9% of the variance in privacy policy compliance. The indirect effects through Compliance Readiness, BPM Capability, and their sequential combination were all significant. These findings indicate that favorable technology, organizational support, and environmental pressure do not automatically produce consistent privacy practices. Digital SMEs must first develop internal readiness and then translate that readiness into documented, monitored, and repeatable business processes. The study concludes that sustainable privacy compliance is best understood as a capability-building process rather than merely a regulatory or technological response.
