Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Chemotherapy is a type cancer treatment that uses anticancer drugs to inhibit cell division and kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy can cause side effect due to normal cells damages. The study aimed to investigate the use of antiemetic prophylaxis as premedication to prevent or reduce side effects on cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. It was a observational study with retrospective design using medical records data of cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy in a hospital in Yogyakarta Special Region during May – September 2022. The results showed the cancer patients were dominated by women (85.71%) with ages 46-65 yr (63.27%) and stage III cancer (87.76%). There were 18 types of anticancer drugs and the most widely used drugs were doxorubicin 60 mg for the moderate emetogenic category and vinorelbine 37.5 mg for the low emetogenic category. The most widely used premedication regimen was a combination granisetron 3 mg, ondansetron 8 mg, and dexamethasone 10 mg regimen (72.45%). This combination was most often used for the cancer patients with the moderate emetogenic category (39 patients or 49.4%). However, not all the cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with the low and moderate emetogenic anticancer drugs were administered the premedication. In conclusion, doxorubicin and vinorelbine are the most widely used for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in the hospital. In addition, a combination of granisetron, ondansetron, and dexamethasone is widely used as premedication.

Abstract

Yogyakarta is one of the top 10 cities with the highest number of dengue cases in Indonesia. One of the reasons for this is the lack of knowledge about the dengue virus in the community. To find out the quality of life of dengue patients in the Bantul Penembahan Senopati Public Hospital. This research uses the descriptive method with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique utilized was the purposive sampling method. 18 research subjects were chosen as the sample with an inclusion criteria of patients undergoing inpatient treatment and aged > 4 years of age. This study used the EQ-5D-5L and EQ-5D-Y.The quality of life of 70% of the adult patients experienced pain of EQ-VAS 67 ± 17.191, while all child patients experienced pain of EQ-VAS 54.375 ± 11.783. The quality of life of dengue patients was measured with the EQ-5D-5L for adults and EQ-5D-Y for children and obtained a poor score due to a decrease in the dimension of pain felt and the usual activities done such as working, studying, and playing.

Abstract

An autoimmune disorder is an abnormality that causes a disease. It is caused by a weakened immune system. One of the autoimmune diseases is Sjogren’s syndrome, which affects the salivary and lacrimal glands and causes dry mouth, dry eyes, and dry skin. Sjogren’s syndrome influences humans of every age, with the symptoms occurring at the age of 45–55 years and rarely in children. One of the factors causing Sjogren’s syndrome is genetic disorders. To identify genes that can influence Sjogren’s syndrome in this study, we used several databases, including GWAS Catalog, HaploReg Version 4.1, GTEX portal, and Ensembl, particularly to identify the gene expression profiles of TNIP1, TNFAIP3, and IRF5 and the quantitative properties of locus’ expression. This research showed that the missense variants and splice donor rs2233290, rs2230926, and rs2004640 influenced the susceptibility of autoimmune diseases, especially Sjogren’s syndrome, in the fibroblast tissue, sigmoid tissue, sigmoid colon, skin, esophagus, and adrenal glands. The allele frequency of each variant was then assessed in African, American, European, and Asian populations. Our data showed that TNIP1, TNFAIP3, and IRF5 genes in African and American populations had higher frequencies than in the Asian population. This implies that the last of the aforementioned populations might be relatively susceptible to the autoimmune disease Sjogren’s syndrome.

Abstract

The assessment of quality of life serves as a critical evaluation of the effectiveness of the administered hemodialysis treatment. The measurement of quality of life can be conducted using the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form (KDQoL-SF™) questionnaire. This research aims to gather information concerning the quality of life among patients with hemodialysis due to chronic kidney failure at the dr. S. Hardjolukito Regional Military Hospital in Yogyakarta. The research employed a cross-sectional design. The respondents consisted of 65 patients selected through purposive sampling based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Independent T-test, Mann-Whitney test, Chi-Square test and Fischer test were conducted to define the association between quality of life and respondent characteristics. Most of the hemodialysis patients was male (50.8%) with average od age was 54.66 years old. The findings revealed that 64.6% of the respondents experienced moderate/poor quality of life, while 35.4% exhibited good quality of life. Statistical analysis established a significant relationship between respondent characteristics and quality of life based on the variables of age and duration of hemodialysis (p<0.05). Hemoglobin levels, number of prescribed medications, gender, education, occupation and income demonstrated no significant relationship with the quality of life. Among the respondents’ characteristics, age and duration of hemodialysis were associated with the quality of life.

Abstract

Kidney failure is a disease with a moderate prevalence in Indonesia but causes the second highest cost burden in Indonesia. One of the treatments for chronic kidney failure is hemodialysis. The problem with hemodialysis patients is a high incidence of malnutrition, which can affect the patient's quality of life. Therefore, this study will examine the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. This research is a cross-sectional study by collecting medical record data and filling out questionnaires. Selection of research subjects with inclusion criteria aged ≥18 years, routinely undergoing hemodialysis, willing to participate in the study and complete medical record data. The patient's nutritional status was seen from the Body Mass Index (BMI), and the patient's quality of life was assessed by the Indonesian version of the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short-Form (KDQoL-SFTM) questionnaire. The average age of the hemodialysis patients in this study was 53.70 years, the average body weight was 57.24 kg and the average height was 10.82 cm. Patients with lean BMI were 20.5%, normal 56.4%, overweight 23.1%, and obesity 2.6%. The domain of employment status is related to nutritional status (p-value 0.005). Nutritional status is related to the quality of life of hemodialysis patients in the occupational status domain.

Abstract

Abstract The increasing use of cosmetic products among healthcare students requires adequate understanding of product safety, BPOM regulations, and active ingredients, while the high academic pressure experienced by pharmacy professional students may also affect their mental health, highlighting the need for educational interventions that strengthen literacy while supporting psychological well-being. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of cosmetic safety education in improving knowledge among pharmacy professional students and to describe their mental health status using the PHQ-9 instrument, employing a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 19 respondents. The educational intervention covered cosmetic active ingredients, BPOM regulations, label reading, and cosmetovigilance principles, with knowledge assessed through pretest–posttest measurements and mental health evaluated using PHQ-9, followed by descriptive analysis and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that prior to the intervention, 88.89% of respondents had good knowledge, which increased to 94.7% after the intervention; however, the improvement was not statistically significant (p = 0.796), likely due to a ceiling effect. PHQ-9 screening indicated that 57.9% of respondents had no depressive symptoms, 36.8% experienced mild depression, and 5.3% had moderate depression. Overall, the educational program reinforced students’ knowledge of cosmetic safety despite the absence of a significant score increase and underscored the importance of psychological support for pharmacy professional students, contributing to their preparedness as future pharmacists to provide safe, evidence-based education to the community. Keywords: cosmetic education; pharmacy students; mental health; cosmetic safety; community empowerment.
