Abstract

The sweet orange (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) is a popular fruit. The part of the sweet orange that is consumed is only the fruit flesh, while the orange peel is only thrown away and not utilized. The sweet orange peel contains several secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, phenols, saponins, and steroids, which have antimicrobial properties. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of the ethyl acetate fraction of sweet orange peel on antibacterial and antifungal activity in Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, and Candida albicans fungi using the disc diffusion method. The ethyl acetate fraction was prepared in several concentration series, namely 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, and 1.5625% w/v. The results obtained showed that all concentrations of the ethyl acetate fraction series showed activity in inhibiting the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria. Series concentrations of 3.125% to 50% have activity in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans fungi. The results of the data analysis using statistical one-way ANOVA showed that the antibacterial and antifungal activities between the concentration series were significantly different (p<0.05) from the negative control.

Abstract

Ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.) has been widely used as a traditional medicine in several countries and regions in Indonesia, such as to increase blood flow and relieve body aches, asthma, diabetes, chickenpox, cough medicine, fever, diarrhea, hypertension, and back pain. This article reviews the potential of ciplukan to overcome various health problems. The preparation of this review article uses references from research articles related to the results of phytochemical screening, the isolation of secondary metabolites, and biological activity tests (pharmacology) of Physalis angulata plants reported in the last 10 (ten) years. This plant contains many secondary metabolite compounds isolated from its roots, leaves, stems, and fruits, such as physalin, withanolide, and flavonoid glycoside compounds. Several studies have reported that this plant has biological and pharmacological activities such as antioxidants, toxicity, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antidiarrheal, antibacterial, antifibrotic, and anti-hypercholesterolemia.

Abstract

Fleas (Pediculus humanus capitis) is one of the little parasites that live by sucking blood from a human head. While sucking blood, the flea secretes a secretion that irritate the skin tissues it causes a massive itch. Fleas can be treated by chemical drugs like 1 % permethrin, but it did have side effect of itching, rusting, swelling in the skin and massive burning sensation. Citronella oil (Cymbopogon nardus) have a chemical content which are insecticidal among them is citronellal which can be used as a natural pediculosid. This research aims to formulate lotion preparations that are stable and effective as anti-fleas and increase the time of death of fleas compared to permethrin. The concentrations of citronella oil used for F1, F2 and F3 were 5%; 7.5%; and 10%. The three formulas were evaluated including organoleptic examination, homogeneity, pH, emulsion type, dispersibility, viscosity, skin irritation, cycling test, and anti-lice activity test. Data analysis used the Kruskal Wallis statistical test. Based on the results of the evaluation of the preparations, it was found that the organoleptic examination of the preparation of lotions FI, FII, FIII had a consistency of thick to liquid form, white to pale yellow, had a distinctive smell of citronella oil, FI test pH = 7.31-6.51, FII = 7 03-6,38 and FIII = 6,98-6,35, FI spread ability test = 6,15-7,75 cm, FII = 6,55-8,25 cm and FIII = 8,55-10,05 cm, emulsion type test FI, FII, FIII have emulsion type M / A, FI viscosity test = 2956-3107 cPs, FII = 2360-2677 cPs, FIII = 764-980 cPs, homogeneity test on FI, FII, FIII homogeneous, freeze and thaw test on FI, FII is stable while FIII is unstable, skin irritation test on FI, FII, FIII is not irritation, FI anti-flea activity test = 122-167 seconds, FII = 117-128 seconds, FIII = 69-90 seconds.

Abstract

A study on isolation and antibacterial activity of secondary metabolites from the methanol extract of Marpuyan (Rhodamnia cinerea Jack.) Leaves on Escherichia coli has been carried out. Isolation was carried out by column chromatography methods. Whereas the antibacterial activity test was carried out using agar diffusion method. The results of the isolation produced 17.9 mg of RC-F13 isolate compound in the form of light yellow crystals, with a melting point of 170-172oC and soluble in methanol. The results of identification of RC- F13 isolate compounds through testing with AlCl3 reagents, positive including the flavonoid group, were strengthened by the results of the UV spectrum and FT-IR spectrum. Based on the results of the UV spectrum, it was seen that the RC- F13 isolate compound showed λ max 353.60, 257.00 and 209.20 nm. The FT-IR spectrum shows the presence of several functional groups such as OH, C aliphatic C-H, C = O carbonyl, C = C aromatic and C-O. testing the antibacterial activity of methanol extract with a concentration of 20%; 10%; 1%; 0.1% and 0.01%, fraction 13 at 1% concentration; 0.1% and 0.01% and RC- F13 isolate compound concentration of 0.1%, against Escherichia coli bacteria did not show any antibacterial activity which was marked by the absence of clear areas around the disc.

Abstract

Gagal ginjal dilaporkan menjadi salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang mematikan. Salah satu faktor penyebab terjadinya gagal ginjal kronis adalah karena mengkonsumsi minuman ringan yang kemasan. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah mengedukasi masyarakat di Stadion Utama Riau tentang bahaya minuman kemasan yang berlebihan bagi kesehatan ginjal. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah ceramah dan diskusi serta pembagian leaflet kepada masyarakat. Pengukuran efektivitas kegiatan sosialisasi ini dilakukan dengan memberikan tes berbentuk kuisoner yang diberikan sebelum kegiatan sosialisasi sebagai tes awal (pretest) dan tes akhir setelah sosialisasi (post-test). Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah telah terjadi peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang bahaya konsumsi minuman kemasan yang berlebihan bagi kesehatan ginjal setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan. Pengetahun yang baik akan bahaya konsumsi minuman kemasan yang berlebihan bagi kesehatan ginjal akan dapat meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Bakteri selulolitik adalah bakteri yang mampu menghidrolisis kompleks selulosa menjadi oligosakarida yang lebih kecil dan akhirnya menjadi glukosaPenelitian penapisan dan karakterisasi bakteri selulolitik termofilik dari sumber air panas ini dilakukan untuk mendapatkan bakteri termofilik yang berpotensi sebagai penghasil selulase termostabil dan karakteristik bakteri tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel dari sumber air panas Desa Sungai Pinang, Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi, dengan 4 titik pengambilan yang berbeda. Sebanyak 24 bakteri selulolitik diisolasi menggunakan medium spesifik yang mengandung carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC). Aktivitas selulolitik dari isolat yang diperoleh kemudian ditentukan berdasarkan kemampuan bakteri dalam menghidrolisis substrat CMC dengan mengukur zona bening yang terbentuk di sekitar koloni pada medium CMC-congo red. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 15 dari 24 isolat (62,5%) mampu mendegradasi selulosa dengan indeks selulolitik (IS) yang beragam. Isolat SPT (III)7 memiliki aktivitas selulolitik tertinggi dengan nilai indeks selulolitik sebesar 4,80. Hasil karakterisasi morfologi dan fisiologi dari semua isolat yang diidentifikasi memperlihatkan bahwa isolat tersebut berupa bakteri Bacillus sp1 dan Bacillus sp2.

Food is one of the most important needs for humans because it relates to daily nutritional needs. The solution to this problem is to consume food with good nutritional content supported by appropriate food processing innovations. Milk can be drunk directly or processed into various forms of food and drinks with milk-based ingredients, such as yogurt. This study aims to make yogurt products from soy milk using red dragon fruit juice as a substitute for sugar and to test their antibacterial activity in inhibiting Salmonella typhi and Shigella dysenteriae bacteria. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments, namely the addition of red dragon fruit juice with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%, 3 replications, and the diffusion method for testing antibacterial activity. The results showed that the best yoghurt formula was obtained from F3 (yoghurt with the addition of 15% concentration of red dragon fruit juice). The panelist hedonic test gives values ranging from slightly like to like for color, aroma, taste, and texture; for organoleptic F3, these are: color (dark pink), taste (sour), texture (liquid-thick), and aroma (typical); pH 3.49; TAT 1.39%; Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) 2.09 x 1010 CFU/mL; and also had an average diameter of inhibition of 18.96 mm against Salmonella thypi (P<0.05) and 20.10 mm against Shigella dysenteriae (p<0.05). Soy milk yogurt with the addition of varying concentrations of red dragon fruit juice has antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Distribusi obat yang sesuai dengan standar Cara Distribusi Obat yang Baik (CDOB) berperan penting dalam menjaga mutu, keamanan, dan khasiat obat hingga ke pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi tingkat penerapan CDOB pada salah satu Pedagang Besar Farmasi (PBF) “X” di Kota Pekanbaru sesuai Peraturan BPOM No. 20 Tahun 2025. Penelitian menggunakan metode observasional dengan pendekatan deskriptif melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dengan Apoteker Penanggung Jawab (APJ), serta pengisian daftar ceklis kuesioner berdasarkan indikator CDOB. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan skor penerapan CDOB sebesar 89,18% yang termasuk kategori sangat baik. Aspek yang sudah terlaksana optimal meliputi penyimpanan, dokumentasi, pengiriman, dan pengendalian mutu. Namun, terdapat kelemahan pada pemusnahan obat kadaluarsa yang belum berjalan konsisten, serta ketiadaan area khusus untuk penyimpanan bahan radioaktif atau berbahaya, meskipun tidak relevan dengan lingkup distribusi PBF ini. Secara keseluruhan, tingginya kepatuhan terhadap CDOB di PBF “X” Pekanbaru memberikan dampak positif terhadap mutu distribusi obat dan keselamatan pasien. Diperlukan penguatan SOP pemusnahan obat, pelatihan SDM secara berkelanjutan, serta inspeksi internal rutin untuk memastikan keberlanjutan penerapan CDOB.

Abstract

The liver is an organ that plays many roles in the body's metabolism. These include macronutrient metabolism, blood volume regulation, immune system support, lipid and cholesterol homeostasis, and breakdown of xenobiotic compounds, including various drugs. Hepatitis is one of the many diseases that is a major world health threat. One of the plants used to prevent and treat hepatitis is turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val) whose main content is curcumin. The Community Service Activities will be carried out on April 08 2023 at Air Putih Village, Tuah Madani District, Pekanbau City, Riau Province. The aim of this community service is to increase public understanding and awareness about the treatment and prevention of liver disease by using herbal plants and to see the level of public knowledge about diseases that attack the liver so it is hoped that this community service can improve the level of public health which will certainly help reduce the number of sufferers. liver disease. From the results of this service activity, it can be seen that the level of knowledge of each individual is different. The number of respondents obtained was 50 respondents, and the results showed that the majority had a good level of knowledge about liver disease after counseling and providing education with leaflets.
