Abstract

Ekspor sumber daya perikanan Indonesia selalu mengalami peningkatan. Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan menargetkan ekspor sumber daya perikanan sebesar US$ 7,13–8,00 miliar di tahun 2022-2024. Tuna-Cakalang-Tongkol (TCT) adalah kelompok ikan pelagis besar yang memiliki potensi besar dan memegang peranan penting dalam perikanan tuna global. Indonesia adalah produsen TCT terbesar di dunia, dengan hasil tangkapan mencapai 1,3 juta ton (20,06% produksi dunia). Dengan produksi TCT tertinggi di dunia, Indonesia menduduki peringkat ke-3 di bawah Thailand dan Vietnam dalam ekspor TCT ke AS. Ekspor TCT Indonesia ke Amerika Serikat (AS) bisa ditingkatkan dengan cara memperbaiki daya saing TCT Indonesia. Dalam rangka peningkatan daya saing TCT Indonesia di pasar AS, perlu diketahui posisi daya saing TCT Indonesia saat ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui daya saing dan posisi daya saing TCT Indonesia di pasar AS. Data yang dipakai dalam menganalisis daya saing merupakan data sekunder dalam kurun waktu 20 tahun terakhir (2000-2019). Daya saing ekspor TCT Indonesia dianalisis dengan Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). Posisi daya saing ekspor dianalisis dengan Export Product Dynamic (EPD). TCT Indonesia mempunyai daya saing komparatif di pasar AS karena nilai RCA rata-rata 13,68 pertahun (RCA>1) dengan pertumbuhan positif dan berada pada posisi rising star. Hal ini berarti TCT Indonesia memliki pangsa pasar ekspor yang baik yang tumbuh secara dinamis di pasar AS.

Abstract

Bojonegoro Regency is one of the major sources of food and energy and the 4th largest rice production center in East Java Province; however, it is the most vulnerable region to flood from Bengawan Solo River. The fluctuation of rice production for the last six years shows the existence of rice production risk in Bojonegoro. This research aims to analyze the factors that affect rice production and production risk in Bojonegoro Regency and to analyze the behavior of rice farmers in facing production risk. The data used were secondary data from the Research Center for Disaster of IPB 2016, and the research was held in Kegungprimpen Village, Kanor of Bojonegoro Regency from March-April 2016 with 50 samples from the rice farmers. The data were analyzed using multiple linier regression analysis and absolute risk averse (AR). The results show that the variables of land width, pesticides, and flooding are the increasing risk factors, while those of labor, chemical fertilizer and organic fertilizer are the reducing risk factors. The behavior of farmers in facing the production risk a whole shows that the entire rice farmers in e Kedungprimpen Village are risk takers. Assistance in the use of inputs of pesticides and agricultural insurance are required because they can provide protection to rice farmers as anticipation against rice production risk.Keywords: flood, Bengawan Solo River watershed, preference, riskABSTRAKKabupaten Bojonegoro merupakan salah satu wilayah lumbung pangan dan energi serta sentra produksi padi tertinggi ke 4 di provinsi Jawa Timur merupakan wilayah yang paling rentan terhadap bencana banjir sungai Bengawan Solo. Fluktuasi produksi selama enam tahun terakhir menunjukan adanya risiko produksi di Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor – faktor yang memengaruhi produksi dan risiko produksi dan menganalisis preferensi risiko petani padi padi di Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder dari hasil penelitian Pusat Studi Bencana IPB tahun 2016 yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret - April 2016 di Desa Kegungprimpen, Kecamatan Kanor, Kabupaten Bojonegoro dengan sampel yang digunakan, yaitu 50 petani padi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi linier berganda dan absolute risk averse (AR). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa variabel luas lahan, pestisida, dan banjir merupakan faktor peningkat risiko (risk increasing factors), sedangkan tenaga kerja, pupuk kimia dan pupuk organik merupakan faktor pengurang risiko (risk reducing factors). Preferensi risiko petani secara keseluruhan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh petani padi yang ada di Desa Kedungprimpen bersifat risk taker. Abstract

The broiler is a highly demanded animal protein source for Indonesian people. Nowadays, primary and derived product demand for broiler chicken increases steadily. So it is necessary to increase broiler farm performance in order to meet the increased demand. One of the broiler farm centers which have fulfilled the rapid request of broiler chicken is located in Bogor, West Java. However, there was an important issue facing the broiler industry in Bogor, namely the decreased growth of broiler chicken population in Bogor. This indicates in the optimized business performance of broiler farm, impacting on business sustainability. Theoretically, business performance can be improved by stimulating farmer entrepreneurial competence. This study aimed to analyze factors affecting entrepreneurial competencies of farmers and determine the influence of farmer entrepreneurial competence on broiler farm performance in Bogor. This study used a convenience sampling method involving 120 contract farmers when running their business. Data were analyzed using descriptive method and multivariate analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results showed that farmer entrepreneurial competencies were very dominant in broiler farm business performance. The entrepreneurial competence variable was mostly influenced by the managerial competence variable of farmers. The influential manifested variable to increase managerial competence was the farmer's ability in human resource management.Keywords: broiler farm, business performance, entrepreneurial competencies

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) of Usaha Mandiri is the only UKM in Putri Hijau district, North Bengkulu that carries out its activities based on cooperative principles. The UKM was established in 2010 due to the rubber farmer’s concern about their future. In the last few years, the rubber price has declined, resulting in the decreasing performance of UKM Usaha Mandiri’s.  The objective of this research is to analyze the performance of UKM of Usaha Mandiri.  The method used is balanced scorecard (BSC) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to identify the UKM’s strategic aim and the BSC value. The result of the research shows that the performance of UKM of Usaha Mandiri   started to decline from 2013–2015.  The BSC score from 2011–2015 was 112.93 (excellent), 141.84 (excellent), 95.41 (excellent), 47.42 (average) and 81.62 (very good).  The decline of the performance was due to the decline of natural rubber price.  The conclusion for the research is that in 2015 the performance of UKM of Usaha Mandiri   was categorized as very good (BSC method) with the most contribution from growth and learning perspective.        Keywords : Balanced scorecard, BSC, cooperation, performance measurement, UKM

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of individual factors, enviromental factors, entrepreneurial behavior on business performance of cassava SMEs agroindustry in Padang. This research was conducted in January-March 2017, and the number of respondents was 53 entrepreneurs. The analysis method used was quantitative analysis using Partial Least Square (PLS) version 2.0. The results showed individual factors have positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial behavior with the influence coefficient 0.430. The most dominant individual factor that reflected entrepreneurial behavior was the experience with the load factor (λ) 0.877. Environmental factors have a positive and significant effect on individual factors with the influence coefficient 0.478. Environmental factors have a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial behavior with the influence coefficient 0.405. The most dominant environmental factor that affected entrepreneurial behavior was training with the load factor (λ) 0.840. The entrepreneurial behavior factor has a positive and significant effect on business performance with influence coefficient 0.575. The most dominant entrepreneurial behavior that influenced the business performance was the innovativeness with the load factor (λ) 0.774.Keywords: individual factor, environmental factor, entrepreneurial behavior, business performance, partial least square (PLS)

Abstract

Business performance was one of the benchmarks of entrepreneurial behavior so the concept of entrepreneurial behavior in businessmen is important, because it will impact on business performance. Entrepreneurial behavior is formed by two factors namely individual and environmental factors. The objective of this research were to analyze the effect of individual and environmental factors that influence entrepreneurial behavior and to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial behavior on business performance of Salted fish in Muara Angke. This research used Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) 3.0 for quantitative analysis. The result of this research indicated that individual factor had a positive effect and it was significant on entrepreneurial behavior with coefficient value 0.317 and t-statistics 3.860, while the environmental factor in salted fish business had a positive effect, and it was insignificant on entrepreneurial behavior because the value of t-statistics was 1,262 < 1.96. Entrepreneurial behavior had a positive effect and it was significant on business performance. This can be seen from the t-statistic value of 2.551 > 1.96, which means that any increase of entrepreneurial behavior will improve business performance of salted fish businessmen in Muara Angke.Keywords: entrepreneurial behavior, business performance, salted fish, partial least square

Abstract

The ornamental plant business is a business dominated by MSEs, so it has a vital role in economic development and growth. The largest ornamental plant production centre city in West Java Province is Bogor City. This is an opportunity to develop an ornamental plant business in Bogor City, which can be carried out by entrepreneurial behaviour and entrepreneurial competence of ornamental plant entrepreneurs. This study aimed to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial behaviour and entrepreneurial competence on the performance of ornamental plants in the city of Bogor. Respondents in this study were ornamental plant entrepreneurs with several 100 people who were determined by the conventional method. Data analysis in this study used the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with the help of AMOS 23 software. The results showed that entrepreneurial behaviour had a positive and significant effect on ornamental plants' performance with a coefficient value of 0,63 and a t-statistic value of 3,52. Besides, entrepreneurial competence also has a positive and significant effect on ornamental plants' performance, with a coefficient of 1,12 and a t-value of 14,61. This means that any increase in entrepreneurial behaviour and entrepreneurial competence will improve the performance of ornamental plants in the city of Bogor.

Abstract

Indonesia need to strengthen the national economy to face the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community) in the end of 2015 by growing Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which has entrepreneurial characteristics. Currently there is an increasing activity of women in SMEs. This research aimed at identifying and analyzing the forming factors of women’s entrepreneurial activities that contribute to grow new enterprise on processed potato business.This study is located in Kerinci regency because there were increased entrepreneurial activity by women. Primary data were collected through questionnaire to 111 women entrepreneurs of potato processing by the sampling “census” technique, and the data were analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The exogenous latent variables were entrepreneurial characteristics, personal characteristics, opportunity, and resources. Where as women’s entrepreneurial activities and grow new enterprise as endogenous latent variables. The results showed that the built model had goodness fit and good reliability measurement variables (CR≥0.70, VE≥0.50). Women entrepreneurial activities were reflected the most by resources (γ=0.66) and entrepreneurial characteristics (γ=0.59). Entrepreneurial characteristics of women entrepreneur were formed by motivation (λ= 0.54), risk taking (λ= 0.32), and innovation (λ= 0.95). Thus women who processing potatoes in Kerinci regency have the entrepreneurial character. Women’s entrepreneurial activities positively proved contribute to grow new enterprise on processed potato business (β=0.95). Facilitating new venture program, strengthening of capital program, and business training to women entrepreneurs should be a priority of the Indonesian government programs in the future to compete in the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community).

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) identify characteristics and competencies of beef cattle farmer, and (2) analyze the influence of characteristics through competencies of farmer on business performance of beef cattle farm in Bandung Regency. In this research, the farmer characteristics consist of personal and psychological characteristic, whereas the competencies consist of technical and entrepreneurial competency. This research used 121 data of beef cattle farmers that collected by proportional cluster sampling according to the central areas of the farm, namely Cikancung, Cimenyan, and Cimaung Districts. The data were analyzed by SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) analysis. The results showed that both characteristics positively and significantly influence both competencies, and also have an indirect effect on business performance by technical competency. Psychological characteristic (need for achievement as a strong predictor) more influential on competencies than personal characteristic (informal education as a strong predictor). Technical competency (managing marketing and input as a strong predictor) positively (γ=0.81) and significantly influence the business performance (productivity as a strong predictor), while the influence of entrepreneurial competency is not significant. Indirectly, psychological characteristic (0.56) more influential on business performance than personal characteristic (0.29). The implication, beef cattle productivity can be increased by improving technical competency, especially for managing marketing and input. This competency can be improved by increasing need for achievement and active participation of farmers in attending the counseling/training by giving them rewards.

Abstract

Micro and small enterprises (MSE) is a dominant business form in Indonesia with the percentage up to 90%. However, there is a tendency that the entrepreneur is identified to large scale of business. The purpose of this study were (1) identify the characteristics of entrepreneurs in MSE industry (2) analyze the effect of entrepreneurial characteristics and the business climate for entrepreneurial behavior (3) analyze the effect of entrepreneurial behavior on its performance. Purposive sampling technique was applied to select 121 respondent. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used to estimate entrepreneurial behavior. The results of this study showed that entrepreneurial characteristics was found on the MSE, furthermore  stronger entrepreneurial characteristics was found on the large scale production. There is a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and the business climate for entrepreneurial behavior. Entrepreneurial characteristics was influencing the most on the behavior of entrepreneurs. In addition entrepreneurial behavior was also positive and significant influence on its business performance. Thus, this study confirmed that entrepreneurial behavior was also found in small businesses, not only in large enterprises.
