Abstract

Introduction: Work stress is a significant issue in the nursing profession, often linked to adverse mental health outcomes such as anxiety, depression, and decreased quality of life. This study aimed to investigate the relationships between anxiety, depression, quality of life, and work stress among nurses in East Java Province, Indonesia. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed, involving 205 nurses from three cities in Indonesia. Data were collected using standardized instruments: Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) for anxiety, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) for depression, World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) for quality of life, and the Work Stress Scale (WSS) for work stress. Correlation and multiple regression analyses were used to examine the relationships between the variables. Results: The finding revealed significant correlations between work stress, anxiety (p-value 0.001), and quality of life (p-value 0.001). Higher levels of work stress were associated with increased anxiety and lower quality of life scores. However, no significant association was found between work stress and depression in the regression analysis (p-value 0.101). Anxiety and quality of life were significant predictors of work stress, accounting for 13.4% of the variance. Conclusion: This study's findings support targeted interventions that can reduce anxiety and improve nurses' quality of life. These include mental health workplace programs and hospital organizational changes to foster a positive work culture. Given the limitations of self-reported data, future research should incorporate longitudinal designs and objective measures to understand these relationships better.

Abstract

To investigate the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy in patients with psychosis and schizophrenia. CBT plays a crucial role as an effective therapy in addressing psychotic disorders and schizophrenia by altering cognitive and behavioral patterns, reducing psychotic symptoms, enhancing self-control abilities, addressing cognitive dysfunction, and improving the overall quality of life of patients.Method: A systematic review of the effectiveness of psychological interventions in treating psychosis and schizophrenia focused on cognitive therapy has been conducted. The electronic databases Springer, Science Direct, Proquest, and Clinical Trials were searched using a combination of different search terms. Data were independently extracted by one author, and a synthesis of the results was offered. We identified articles fulfilling inclusion criteria: articles that investigate and report the role of CBT in managing and reducing symptoms and disabilities related to schizophrenia. The majority of research has been cross-sectional and has shown that increased cognitive biases in comparison to healthy controls are associated with psychoses in schizophrenia. The search date was conducted in February 2024, and the search was re-run in March 2024 for new entries.Result: 10 papers were included and reported the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy approach interventions in reducing psychosis. Ultimately, no reliable factors were definitively linked to better outcomes after cognitive therapy. Many potential influences were either not confirmed in other studies or based on weak research. Conclusion: Additionally, studies often examined these factors independently, ignoring their potential interconnectedness (like age and education). Moving forward, researchers need well-designed studies to explore the true impact of these potential factors on treatment response. Understanding these factors can help determine who benefits most from cognitive behavioral therapy and ultimately lead to better outcomes.

Abstract

Kata Kunci : kanker; dukungan sosial; kualitas hidup; pemberdayaan Capacity Building for Paguyuban Sehat in PKK RW 5 Pacarkembang in Providing Social Support for Cancer PatientsABSTRACTTreatment of cancer patients is different from other diseases. Decreased immunity due to chemotherapy treatment, changing roles due to inability to work and adjustment to post chemotherapy conditions. decreases mental health and overall quality of life. The results showed that about 632 patients (82.3%) of cancer patients were in the category of Quality of Life (QOL) score below the average and the quality of life of cancer patients was affected by the reported symptoms. The high risk of prolonged stress and mental disorders in cancer patients is due in part to the lack of support from the community. Precautions need to be taken to minimize stress both physically and mentally. So far, the support given to cancer patients mainly comes from fellow sufferers. Support through Paguyuban Sehat for cancer patients is provided in three aspects. The first aspect is knowledge, where the Healthy Paguyuban will be given information related to cancer, treatment of cancer patients after surgery and during chemotherapy or radiation treatment. The second aspect is social, where strengthening support is given to cancer sufferers. The third aspect is spiritual where a person seeks meaning, purpose, and connection to higher powers, and enables the individual to function effectively toward his or her life goals. Keywords: cancer; empowerment; social support; quality of life

Abstract

Introduction: Uncertainty Diabetes mellitus shows the inability of individuals to determine the meaning of events related to the disease process. Uncertainty Diabetes mellitus causes stress due to uncertainty around the disease, disease process, treatment and side effects. The purpose of this study was to develop a stress adaptation model to the uncertainty of the diabetes mellitus disease process. Method: The design of this research is an explanatory survey with a cross sectional approach. Methods: The sample size of the study was 250 Diabetes mellitus clients who were recruited using simple random sampling technique. The research variables are cognitive, biophysical, social, psychological factors, structure providers, illusions, inferences, uncertainty, psychosocial coping and adaptations. Data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by SEM-PLS. Results: The results of this study indicate that cognitive, biophysical, psychological factors, structure providers and the illusion of inference have a significant effect on uncertainty. Social factors have no effect on uncertainty. Uncertainty has a significant effect on coping and psychosocial adaptation. Coping has a significant effect on psychosocial adaptation. The test criteria state that if the T-statistics T-table value (1.96) or the P-value <significant alpha 5% or 0.05, it is stated that there is a significant effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. Conclusions: The finding of the stress adaptation model to the uncertainty of the disease process Diabetes mellitus is associated with that uncertainty is a cognitive condition, indicating the inadequacy of existing cognitive factors to support the interpretation of disease-related events. Then adaptation in the context of uncertainty reflects the continuation of the normal biopsychosocial behavior of Diabetes mellitus clients and is the expected result of coping efforts to reduce uncertainty which is assessed as a danger.
