Abstract

This study aims to develop Problem-Based Learning (PBL) instructional tools, including a syllabus, lesson plans, and student activity sheets, to enhance students' mathematical problem-solving skills. The development process follows the 4-D model, consisting of four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires, using validation sheets and student response surveys as instruments. The validity of the instructional tools was assessed by experts, with results indicating high validity, with average scores of 3.82 for the syllabus, 3.93 for the lesson plans, and 3.79 for the student activity sheets. Additionally, the practicality of the LAS was tested in both small and large groups, showing high practicality with average scores of 3.52 and 3.64, respectively. These findings indicate that the developed instructional tools meet the required standards of validity and practicality, making them suitable for classroom use. This study successfully created PBL-based instructional tools that effectively support the development of students' mathematical problem-solving skills and are expected to positively impact mathematics learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce a test instrument to measure mathematical problem solving abilities on quadrilaterals and triangles in class VII SMP/MTs students. The test developed is in the form of a description that meets the criteria for logical and empirical validity, level of difficulty and good discriminating power. This research uses a development studies development model which consists of pleminary and formative evaluation stages. The formative evaluation stage consists of self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group and field test activities. The research instruments used were validation sheets, student response questionnaires and KPMM test questions. The research subjects were 33 students of class VIII.3 of SMPN 8 Pekanbaru. Research data was obtained by validating the test instrument with three validators and testing the test instrument with research subjects at the small group and field test stages. The results of the research show that the average score of test instrument validators for content, construction and language aspects is 87.82%, from the 20 questions developed, 20 questions were logically valid, and 17 questions were empirically valid with a reliability value of 0.90 in the category very high, while the level of difficulty obtained was 13 questions with a medium level of difficulty, 2 questions with an easy level of difficulty and 1 question with a difficult level of difficulty, and the distinguishing power was 9 questions in the good category, 6 questions in the sufficient category, and 2 questions in the poor category . Of the 20 questions developed, there were 17 questions that met the criteria for being logically and empirically valid and had a good level of difficulty and differentiating power.

Abstract

Autonomy in learning is an ability required by each individual to cope all life challenges. A person with higher learning autonomy could study better and is capable of observing, evaluating and managing his study effectively and efficiently, and saving the time to accomplish given tasks. However, students’ learning autonomy (SLA) has in fact not yet well-developed up to senior high school level. Generative learning (GL) is considered able to elicit the development of SLA. This research aims to examine students’ autonomy in learning through the implementation of GL. The type of this research is quasi experiment with pretest and posttest control group design. The research used a set of learning autonomy scales as its instrument. The research result shows that GL could better enhance SLA compared to conventional learning; perceived from a whole: 0.58 > 0.51, perceived from the school category: 0.65 >0.58 (superior), 0.57 > 0.51 (moderate), 0.51 > 0.44 (low) and students’early mathematics skill (EMS): 0.74 > 0.69 (high), 0.60 > 0.54 (medium),0.35 > 0.31 (low). Both control and experimental classes have moderate learning autonomy improvement. Meanwhile, in terms of EMS, those obtaining GL treatment improved moderately, and the control class has apoor increase.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low both Mathematical Problem Solving Ability (KPMM) and Mathematical Disposition (DM) in solving problems of grade VII MTs students. This study aims to see an increase in KPMM and DM MTs students in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The form of research was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The population of the study was MTs students in Kuantan Singingi District with the sample being Grade VII students from 3 MTs in Kuansing. Data collection instruments in this study were KPMM tests and DM questionnaires. Data were analyzed using t-test, Mann- Whitney U test, one-way Anova. The results obtained were an increase in KPMM for students who treated with Think Talk Write (TTW) strategies in cooperative learning. They were higher than students who obtained learning with a scientific approach (g_TTW = 0.75> 0.61 = g_PS). So it appears that the increase in KPMM and DM students who get the TTW Strategy in Cooperative Learning is higher than students who get learning with a scientific approach.

Abstract

Students' mathematical understanding ability in Matrix material of Senior High Schools is still low. This is due to students being less active in learning, teaching materials are still limited and in learning teachers are more accustomed to presenting formulas instantly. This study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective learning tool by implementing a cooperative model of Numbered Head Together (NHT) to improve students' mathematical understanding abilities in the Matrix Class XI material. The development model used was the Borg and Gall model. Data collection instruments used in this study were interview guides, questionnaires, and tests. The average validation results for RPP is 3.81 and for LKPD is 3.84 with a very valid category. Limited testing of 15 students obtained 91.22% percentage of student responses categorized as very practical. Field trials on 25 students obtained a percentage of the response of students 90.20% categorized as very practical. The results of the effectiveness test indicate that the students' mathematical understanding ability is increasing.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability of Mathematical Problem Solving (KPMM) of students. In order to improve KPMM, teachers can do designing the learning process. This study aims to develop mathematical learning tools that are valid, practical and effective. The development model used the Borg and Gall model. The research instrument consisted of syllabus validation sheets, lesson plane (RPP), student worksheet (LKPD), observability of implementation, student questionnaire responses and KPMM test instruments. The result shows the mathematics learning kit using the PBL model was already valid which is for the syllabus was 85.41%, RPP was 85.11%, LKPD was 88.67% and the test instrument was 81.71%. The learning kit fulfills the practicality requirements in large group trials with an average questionnaire of students responses of 91.99% and an average of 94.58%. Effective mathematics learning tools is to improve KPMM of students with student learning outcomes that is based on the achievement of KKM with the percentage of completeness reached is 88.24%. Development of learning tools can significantly improve students mathematical problem solving abilities at a significant level of P = 0,000 with α = 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the development of mathematics learning tools by applying problem based learning can improve students mathematical problem solving abilities.
