Abstract

Flooding is a natural disaster that often occurs in several village areas in Tempurejo Sub-district, Jember Regency, one of which is in Wonoasri Village. Residents of Wonoasri Village have carried out regular prevention activities every rainy season, one of which is the construction of river bunds and dredging mud. However, if not seriously anticipated, the flood disaster will paralyse access to the village. The purpose of this service is to inform insights and preventive mitigation actions related to flood disasters to the village community and especially to the Wonoasri Disaster Response Village (Destana) team. This activity is composed of several activities including the provision of equipment grants, training and socialisation, and evaluation of activities. The results of this activity are the provision of insights and handling actions by the Destana Wonoasri team related to flood management and the operation of equipment grants. Participants were very interested in this activity organised by the community service team, so it is hoped that this event in the future can be a positive thing for the village community and the Destana Wonoasri team to deal with natural disasters, especially floods.

Abstract

Gastropods are invertebrate animals from the phylum Mollusca which have soft bodies and most of them have shells. The Pangpang Bay mangrove forest has a muddy substrate type and contains a lot of organic matter as a food source. This research was conducted in October - December 2022 at the Pangpang Ijen Geopark Bay. The area of the research area is about 900 meters2 with a total plot size of 1x1 m totaling 99 plots. The gastropod data collection method uses the systematic plot transect method. The recorded data contains the local name/type/type code, the number of species, and the number of individuals of each type. Data on abiotic environmental factors which include temperature, pH, and salinity are determined by the range of values and the type of substrate. Further data analysis was carried out by determining the species composition of gastropods by calculating the Shannon-Wiener (H') species diversity index. The results showed that there were 20 types of gastropods with members from 11 genus and 7 families. The results showed that the gastropod diversity index at the study site is in the medium category with a value of 1.95. The conclusion of this study is the diversity of species found in the mangrove forest of Pangpang Ijen Geopark Bay as many as 20 species. The value of diversity of gastropod species in the Pangpang Ijen Geopark Bay mangrove forest is in the moderate category because there are quite a lot of species found and only one species dominates.

Abstract

Conventional orchid cultivation is thought to be ineffective and time-consuming. Simple tissue culture procedures are insufficient to increase orchid quality. The need for ongoing development can be met by integrating different plant breeding strategies in orchid tissue culture, such as induction mutation, elicitor addition, and genetic transformation. The purpose of this article was to report on current improvements in the use of plant breeding techniques to orchid tissue culture to increase orchid quality. This article referenced significant scientific publications. Orchid tissue culture using mutation induction is used to develop improved variations. Giving elicitors can cause orchid plants to conserve themselves and become more resistant to diseases. The required transgene can be introduced into the genome of cultivated orchids via Agrobacterium. These advancements have the potential to revolutionize orchid cultivation. Abstract

Fiddler crab (Uca spp.) belongs to the Order Decapoda and Family Ocypodidae, which live by making burrows in the substrate between mangrove plants. The presence of fiddler crabs plays an important role in mangrove ecosystems, which can increase sediment mineralisation due to burrows that can increase oxygen distribution into the sediment. This research was conducted in the mangrove ecosystem of Duta coastal, Probolinggo Regency. The method used when sampling biota in this study is the transect-plot method, which is used to place 1x1 m2 plots systematically along the transect. Sampling of fiddler crabs was carried out at the lowest low tide. Samples taken were fiddler crabs in the plot. Data on the species found, the number of individuals of each species, and the total number of individuals obtained from species composition were used to calculate species diversity. Fiddler crabs (Uca spp.) found in the mangrove ecosystem Duta coastal were 10 species, namely U. perplexa, U. rosea, U. vocans, U. annulipes, U. triangularis, U. coarctata, U. tetragonon, U. vomeris, U. forcipata, and U. dussumieri. The diversity value of fiddler crab species in the Ambassador Coastal Mangrove ecosystem is moderate (Hˈ = 2.209). All species of fiddler crabs were found in the muddy sand substrate type, because the burrow structure is strong, so that when the tide, the burrow condition is maintained.

Abstract

Lichen is an indicator plant that is sensitive to air pollution. This sensitivity is indicated by changes in state, body resistance, and reactions to environmental changes. This study aims to evaluate air quality in the University of Jember environment by using lichen as a bioindicator. The selection of the University of Jember as the research site was based on its unique environmental conditions, namely the presence of high motor vehicle activity, the presence of industry, and also the extent of green areas. Data were obtained through lichen sampling in 15 faculties and analyzed using the Air Quality Index of Atmospheric Purify (IAP). The results showed low average IAP values, indicating poor air quality in the campus environment. The Faculty of Computer Science and Faculty of Agriculture had the lowest IAP values, indicating the highest levels of pollution. Correlations between IAP values and the presence of green spaces and human activity showed that these factors significantly affected air quality. A decrease in lichen diversity indicates an increase in air pollutants, especially from vehicle exhaust. This study concludes that lichens can be an effective tool for monitoring air quality in urban environments, particularly in campus areas. Keyword: Air Quality, Bioindicators, Lichen, Pollution

Abstract

The Corona Virus 19 pandemic or Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID19) is a disease caused by a corona virus that usually attacks the respiratory tract. Covid-19 disease can be transmitted when a person show symptoms such as fever, runny nose, cough, throat, and headache; although many cases occur without any symptoms (Rothan, 2020). Covid-19 cases in Indonesia continue to increase every day based on data from Deti Mega Purnamasari in kompas.com, where until April 15, 2020 there were 5,136 positive cases of Covid-19. This research will produce a game where players will be able to learn while playing quizzes to increase their knowledge about the symptoms and ways to prevent the occurrence of covid. To study covid, information that can be used as a benchmark is needed to be used as questions in the game. Fuzzy is used to give a score that will increase every time you answer correctly and LCG (Linear Congruential Generator) is used to give random questions to players. Based on the experiment done, only 50% of 10 people have sufficient knowledge about covid19 daily. By making this game, public awareness about covid will increase.
