Abstract

A clinker cooler is a very important piece of equipment in the cement industry because it functions to cool the slag or clinker that comes out of the kiln. In the cement industry, the processed clinker is first heated in a rotary kiln at °C and then lowered to temperature again. Next, the crossbar hammer crusher driven by the drive plate crushes the clinker. Clinker is transferred from the cooler inlet to the cooler outlet by this device. The performance of the main clinker cooler due to small errors can cause the kiln to stop working or disrupt other operations, such as in the mile finish area. In certain cases, cement production was disrupted due to a break in the crossbar component in the clinker cooler using the tested software Ansys Workbench 2020. It is hoped that the data from this simulation can be used as a benchmark between the results of the simulation, it can be used as a benchmark between the results of the best modified design for increasing crossbar durability through statistical loading tests with the FEA method.

Abstract

The use of synthetic fibers in composite materials has a negative impact on the environment. One way to reduce this impact is to replace synthetic fibers with natural fibers. A natural fiber that has the potential as a mixed material in the manufacture of composite materials is citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) fiber. This study aims to determine the effect of volume fractions 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70% of citronella fiber with polyester resin matrix BQTN 157 on tensile strength. The process of making composites used the hand lay-up method. The specimen was formed according to the ASTM D3039 standard and the tensile strength of the specimen was tested by using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM). From the results of the study, the maximum tensile strength was found in the fiber volume fraction 70% of 77.35 MPa, the strain is 6.57%, and the modulus of elasticity is 1.177 GPa. This study indicates that fiber volume fraction affects the tensile strength of composite materials. Hence, the manufacture of composite materials which have good strength is influenced by many things such as raw materials, matrices, mixture composition, and methods.

Abstract

A person who is involved in the learning process regularly because of pleasure without external pressure is said to have an interest in learning. This interest is a relatively constant and enduring disposition, usually focused on one particular activity such as computers, science, athletics, music, or dancing. Based on observations during the Field Experience Practice (PPL), number of problems were found related to student interest in SMAW subjects. Some of these problems include student disinterest due to the use of less than optimal learning media and lecture methods that make students bored, fall asleep, or lose focus. Some students even refuse to complete the assigned tasks, indicating low interest in learning. Because interest in learning has a major influence on learning outcomes, it is important for students to understand school standards. This study uses a quantitative method to investigate the relationship between interest in learning and learning outcomes. This study collected and analyzed data using SPSS software. Subjects of the study were 25 grade XI Las students, and the independent variable was interest in learning as measured through the use of the Welducation application. The results of the analysis show that the average value of students' learning interest is 131.40 with a standard deviation of 15.047. Meanwhile, the average value of students' learning outcomes is 86.32 with a standard deviation of 0.985. The results of the hypothesis test show a significant relationship between learning interest and learning outcomes with a correlation coefficient of 0.899 and a significance value of 0.000.

Abstract

Recycling is the process of converting used materials into new materials with the aim of preventing waste that can actually be useful, reducing the use of new raw materials, reducing energy use, reducing pollution, land damage. The purpose of this study was to determine the most optimal pouring temperature to produce the best casting of the physical and mechanical properties of recycled aluminum material added with degasser powder. The urgency of this study is as a research material in the field of materials. This research method is to make 3 variations of melting temperature before pouring into the mold, the temperature variations used are 6750-7000C, 7000-7250C and 7250-7500C. At any temperature variation before pouring into the mold, degasser powder is also added to help clean the molten metal from the gases trapped in the molten metal. After the sample is molded, the results are visually observed, then a specimen is made to test the mechanical properties of the used aluminum casting. The data from the test results show that there is a fairly large porosity value in each variation. The hardness value of the test results shows that it is directly proportional to the temperature variation. At a temperature of 7250-7500C the average hardness value is 98.5 HVN. While the tensile strength at a temperature of 7250-7500C value is 83.58 Mpa, at a temperature of 7000-7250C = 74.39 Mpa and at a temperature of 6750-7000C = 71.5 Mpa. Thus the most optimal temperature in this used aluminum casting is 7250-7500C.
